We booked The Grand Hotel to have a cream tea on Mothering Sunday as a treat for my mum. The hotel had pulled out all the stops, unfortunately they had fallen on the floor. When we arrived, they had no record of our booking. We were informed they weren't doing cream teas, even though it is what we had booked. They found us a table, by the live singer and where they were stacking crockery - very noisy! We ordered cakes and drinks. When they arrived, 3 of the 4 coffees were cold, and had to go back, and they had run out of the cake that one of us had ordered. It took 15 minutes to bring 2 of the replacement coffees. The one they had forgotten, only took another 2 minutes.

Nice clean room With a good outlook. The bed was comfortable and roomy. All the Staff were friendly helpful and efficient The evening meal was very good with excellent service. Bar staff were friendly and efficient. We will definitely make a return visit. BUT will not order sausage with the breakfast, over cooked was an understatement

Traditional hotel, high ceilings, sash windows and a feel of grandeur. Reception staff exceptional, facilities were more than suitable for what I needed and exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was buffet continental, and freshly cooked full English to order. About a 15min flat walk to town, and hotel is opposite the seafront from the front of the building, and Torquay railway station is to the rear (100yrds) so is ideal for those travelling by train. Rooms were clean and more than adequate facilities wise. I would like to highlight Jordan (reception supervisor) for his excellent customer service.

This hotel is an absolute gem! I stayed here with my little dog last weekend and was blown away by how friendly and attentive the staff were, how doggy friendly this place is, the beautiful sea view room with balcony and the food!! I travel all over the UK on business so am a bit of a fuss pot when it comes to where I stay on holidays and this does not disappoint. Comfy beds, sea view, amazing breakfast (the older chap on the desk for breakfast was so absolutely lovely, every guest greeted with a smile and taken to their tables by him, he was simply delightful and I hope he gets this feedback!) Staff on front desk equally as lovely, lady with the fab nails was so kind and friendly as was the Spanish chap who was so helpful and always smiling. My little dog was treated like a true guest and had a blanket and treats placed in our room for her to enjoy. We ate in the hotel both evenings and the food was delicious after a long day exploring all the delights the Riviera has to offer. The beach is on the doorstep and the hotel in walking distance of shops, restaurants and cafes along the promenade. I loved it so much I booked another stay before I had even checked out! Value for money is outstanding... Cant wait to come back in July! Thankyou

The hotel is lovely, although some areas need a bit of TLC. Breakfast was very good. Decor in the dining room is very bright, and I object to the nose piercing in the Queen's picture! Pool was a bit disappointing as there was no jacuzzi, sauna or steam room. I had a fab massage in the spa.

Have stayed a few times before, and the highlights are always the excellent location (fabulous views across the bay) and the lovely bar/lounge area which is a perfect spot for relaxing during the day or evening. A friendly welcome from the Reception team. Bedroom was large and reasonably well furnished, though a bit tatty around the edges. Bathroom was fine, though a little dated, and the shower had good pressure. Heated towel rail didn’t work (could have done with it on a cold February day). In my experience, breakfast is always a little disappointing here - a fairly basic cold buffet selection, and hot items on the buffet never hot (cold fried eggs are never nice!). Tea/coffee is help-yourself from insulated flasks on a side table, which I don’t consider to be a 4-star service standard. The once grand and traditional restaurant has been spoiled by a garish colour scheme on the walls and carpeting, which creates a very down-market ambience.

We booked a sea view dog friendly room 103 and all the lovely views every one says there are ,we got the dirty massive roof of the extension below and could just see the see on the horizon, the old sash windows were so draughty we had to climb on a chair and put towels up there's a trip hazard from the hall into the bathroom where the carpet strip has just been fitted on a slant, the parking in their garage is £10 per night as there is very little room outside but again it's a leaky old shed with no security or doors except for the camera & so tight to park if you have anything bigger than a Fiat 500. We have been offered a complimentary 1 night B & B stay but have declined.

The room my boyfriend and I stayed in was very comfortable, clean and spacious. We booked for 2 nights over the valentines weekend and It was a very pleasant stay. Some highlights include the evening live piano entertainment in the bar and the very efficient turn down service in the bedrooms. The bathroom facilities were slightly dated but the shower was new and very powerful.
