Moxy Plymouth earns high marks for its clean, modern accommodations; guests especially appreciate the spotless rooms and fresh linens. The hotel's location is a hit among reviewers, who cite easy access to local attractions and dining. While some find the rooms a tad small and occasionally overheated, the overall value is celebrated, thanks to competitive room pricing and a varied breakfast. The atmosphere buzzes with trendy vibes, courtesy of a welcoming bar with live music. Service at Moxy Plymouth generally receives praise, though there are occasional calls for faster bar service.

The recption of this hotel is really fun vibrant and welcoming, the only downside side it is like a fridge. WE checked in added breakfast but comee the next morning it had not been added, annoying but not the end of the world. Price is different if on the day.
Rooms are really cute but rather small, there is no where to put any stuff other than four hangers. The bathroom is so tiny you could sit on the loo wash your hands and shower your legs! Room service needs improvement, bed was poorly made up next day and tea and coffee not replenished. Shoer or sink were also not cleaned.
Breakfast is great value for money with loads of choice, unfortunate dogs are allowed in eating areas. Woman next to us was feeding her biscon her cooked breakfast. I have a dog and was very pleased to have found a hotel that allows them, but do not consider this acceptable.
We ordered drinks from the bar which was very nuce, especially cocktails and fairly priced. Food was awful, so would not recommend having a meal at night there. All reheated rubbish, was serviced but a lafdy wearing a coat. The whole place is just too cold.
The bid draw back is they have built a fancy carpark which the council apparently will not let them use, there is local cheap parking but not very pleasant area to walking down an alley late at night.

The location is about a 10 drive by taxi from the Plymouth train station. I stayed here for one night to visit the sights in Plymouth like the Barbican, The Hoe Park and the Mayflower steps. Hoe Park is about a 10 minute walk up a hill.

The reception is in a bar and it gives a young person's kind of hotel vibe. They have pool table in the lobby and bean bags for chairs in the rooms. Rooms were good and clean. Bed was firm and linens were fresh. The ambient fresh smelled fresh in the room. No noise at night and had a good nights sleep.

The restaurant food is not up to par. Ordered Nachos and Sri Lankan chicken curry. The sauces on the Nachos looked and tasted like paste. The curry was like some sauce poured over strips of chicken and heated. The prices were on the high end too.

Otherwise, a comfortable stay here. There were tourist groups. There is a restaurant across the street. The area is being developed and you can see construction going on.

We stayed here overnight before taking the ferry.

The hotel is modern and has a nice feel to it, friendly staff throughout from bar staff to room staff, a smile from everyone.

Bedroom was excellent, comfy bed and very nice linen, felt really clean, including the bathroom, with good quality toiletries and big soft towels.

Room was quiet, great for a good nights sleep.

We had dinner in the bar area, the food was more than you usually get in a transient hotel, this was really tasty and served nice and hot, not worth going out for dinner for one night.

Breakfast was excellent, very good choices and at last a hotel that caters for healthy eaters, lovely choice of cereal, fruit and yogurts, plenty of other stuff for those who prefer a cooked breakfast or cheeses and cold meats.

I spoke with the manager before we left to compliment the hotel and she was lovely and gracious, a credit to this hotel.

I wish all our transit hotels were like this one and especially for the price, a bargain in comparison to some we stay at.

Moxy Hotel Plymouth is a modern hotel with a minimalist vibe, perfect for those who appreciate contemporary design. The hotel is dog-friendly, which is a nice touch for pet owners, though I was a bit uncomfortable with the policy allowing dogs to sit on guests' laps at the dining tables—even as a dog lover myself.

The rooms are quite small and lack some expected conveniences. We stayed in a queen room, which was stylish but only had one bedside table, making it inconvenient for two people. The room lacked a dressing table, had poor lighting, and there were no sockets near the mirror, which was frustrating. The bathroom was incredibly cramped—similar to an airplane toilet. You can just about turn around in it, and the shower cubicle was also very tight, making it uncomfortable to use.

One significant downside was the mattress, which was very firm. If, like me, you have a medical condition that requires a softer mattress, this can be quite uncomfortable and may lead to restless nights.

There are no phones in the rooms and no room service, so if you need anything, you’ll have to go downstairs. While not a major issue, it’s something to consider if you prefer more traditional hotel amenities.

Breakfast was simple but pleasant, with a mix of hot options, continental choices, and cereals. The bar menu was okay but not the best value for money; I’d recommend walking down the road to explore other dining options, which are likely more cost-effective.

The hotel’s location is generally a plus, being within walking distance of most attractions in Plymouth. However, if you prefer to spend your time at the bottom end of the Barbican, this location might not be ideal for you. Additionally, the car park is quite small, and I’m not sure if there are cheaper or closer alternatives nearby.

One of the more disappointing aspects was the view from our room, which overlooked a tyre garage and a derelict site—definitely not the most picturesque. If you enjoy sleeping in, I’d highly recommend requesting a room on the opposite side of the hotel, as we were woken up at 8 AM on Saturday morning by the loud noise of the garage's air tools.

The room was cleaned daily, and it included a hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities, but there was no iron in the room—only an ironing room that was uncomfortably hot and poorly ventilated. Additionally, there was no wardrobe, just a hanging rail with a few coat hangers, which is less than ideal for an extended stay.

On our first night, the rain kept me awake as it dripped onto the window ledge—a minor annoyance that affected my overall comfort.

Overall, while the staff at Moxy Hotel Plymouth were friendly and helpful, the small size of the rooms, firm mattress, cramped bathroom, and lack of basic amenities make it better suited for a short overnight stay rather than a longer visit. We stayed for three nights but, given the room’s limitations, I wouldn’t choose to book here again.

We stayed for 2 nights, Friday was a good night with respectful residents closing doors quietly. Saturday a different story with people above us running from room to room and letting room doors slam shut, and these doors really make a noise and you can feel the vibrations on the floor below. They really need to sort that as they are the loudest I have ever heard. The kids finally stopped running about about 3 am but the damage had been done and we won’t be coming back ever on a Saturday night! The lights on the fire alarm a bit annoying as keeps flashing all night. The aircon / heating is a bit confusing with no instructions and no idea how to make it work. There is also no sneaking to the toilet in the middle of the night as under the beds is a sensor which turns lights on, some would say a good idea but personally just use my phone light rather than light up the room and wake my wife 🙄. I thank the staff as they all did a good job and the issue mentioned are not there fault. I did complain and it was dealt with professionally but I do feel the gentleman did not grasp just how loud the doors closing is and that they do wake you if on the same floor.

We had a brilliant experience for our two nights at this hotel with our dog.

We were warmly checked in by Bertie who made a proper fuss of our dog and gave us all the relevant info we needed for our stay. Bertie checked in with us again the following evening in the bar to make sure we were enjoying our stay and to ask if there was anything he could help with. And we were equally warmly checked out by Dan, who wished us a safe journey home.

The room was spotlessly clean and had all kinds of clever storage solutions, utilising every inch of space. The under bed lighting is ingenious! We often leave a light on in hotel bathroom's to guide us for nighttime loo trips, but this light detected motion, switched on and then switched itself back off. Mattress was perfect and I'm very fussy when it comes to mattresses!

Breakfast was well stocked, plenty of choice and well presented. Colleagues were constantly replenishing food, clearing tables and wiping down. Irina was helpful and very cheery despite the early hour we had breakfast.

Bar staff were chatty, friendly and efficient. We were served by Alex both evenings. The downstairs area is light. clean and quirkily decorated. They arranged use of one their meeting rooms for an important conference call, too.

Couldn't fault our stay at all. Highly recommend. We've stayed at other Moxys and Plymouth Moxy shows exactly how it should be done. Looking forward to staying, again.

Really loved this hotel! Modern and fun, loved the nauticalish decor. Loved the photobooth, games etc.
Free mocktail and creme egg (was easter) on arrival was a great touch.
We parked opposite(ish) in the marina carpark for £6 for 24 hours. There is a carpark behind hotel but never found a space.
All staff were friendly.
We had lunch one day at the hotel and were surprised how great the food was! All day breakfast pizza was 10/10.
Never a wait for the lifts is a bonus.
Room was very clean and everything we needed. Some drawers for clothes would be nice though, only so much you can hang on the rail!
Bed comfy. Shower was always hot with good pressure.
Only let down was the air con. It worked but not enough to cool the room so we had to leave the window open. It was down as low as it would go with top span speed and cold air came out but don’t think it’s powerful enough for the room. Thats the only niggle but wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

If you’ve not used the Moxy brand before you get small well designed rooms with comfy beds and a funky bar area with a nice vibe. Our Saturday night stay included an excellent live music act for a few hours which made for a reason to stay in the bar rather. Table football and other nice features made it a really enjoyable & sociable evening.
Car parking adjacent to the hotel was free, though I was told once it is “finished” they will start to charge. The immediate area seems to be under redevelopment and you aren’t going to have views if anything other than car parks and building sites / industrial storage.
Staff friendly and helpful (but slow serving drinks).
Overall for this price point I reckon you won’t be much better.

Fabulous hotel, lovely staff, good breakfast choice. The only thing I would recommend to anyone thinking of staying here is to avoid Room 401 if there is a band on in the Pavilion. This room is right on the corner overlooking the back stage doors and on our first night there was a Queen tribute band on.
The noise from the music wasn't so bad but the noise that the guys made loading all the sound equipment after the show into a large truck was horrendous.
They were running up the equipment onto a ramp into the truck, some of the equipment was so large it was taking 3 or 4 guys at a time to run up the ramp.
So ask for an alternative room if possible.

Great hotel. We wanted a hotel close to the Plymouth Pavilions. Well you can't get a closer. It's literally right next door, backing on to the stage door. Two minutes walk away.
Really close to the shops, theatre royal, the hoe and only 25 minute walk to the royal william yard.
Parking was available too, but get there early.
On checking in we were given a complimentary cocktail which was delicious.
The bar has a great atmosphere with a good selection of bar snacks etc on offer. Cocktails were made freshly by the very helpful bar staff and the food was hot and yummy too.
There were lots of board games
and a football table too. Plus a fab photo booth.
The rooms were clean, comfortable and very trendy. The bed was fabulous, my husband didn't want to get up!!
Great touch with the under the bed motion detecting
Tea and coffee supplied too.
Breakfast was plentiful, with s great choice.
The only negatives we had was the rooms were very hot and we couldn't work out how to turn the fan off. And whilst we did turn the heating down, it didn't seem to work. Maybe a few simple instructions next to the control panel.
But please book this hotel. It is fabulous.
We will definitely be booking again.
