Upon arrival we were informed there was no shuttle to the Casino. When we got to our room we tried to call the front desk to see why the WIFI wasn’t working.BUT the phone in the room didn’t work. Called from our cell phone was told it sometimes takes a few minutes to connect and that Rogers was the problem. Then when we asked we were told that it’s problem with Apple phones.

We stayed at Stonegate Inn on several occasions during the past ten plus years. During the past two years we wanted to return. We called, the phone rang several times but no one answered. A few weeks ago we sent an email but no one responded. We sent a letter by regular mail but no one responded. One day we telephoned, someone answered and we made a reservation. Our stay was disappointment. In the three years since our last stay the condition of the hotel and service had declined badly. One of the doors between our suite and the adjoining suite was missing. Someone from the adjoining suite opened the door and looked into our suite. That is a serious security breach. There was no housekeeping service throughout the long weekend. Even though ours was a non-smoking room there were cigarette burns on the carpet. In the hallways there were several areas of incomplete maintenance. The elevator did not level with the main floor. The hallway carpets had not been cleaned for a long time. A local resident told us that during then pandemic he heard that the hotel was used for housing homeless people.

No free wifi in room. Found some in overflow breakfast room. iPad said their Wifi network is operating on channels in use by other networks nearby! Asked to speak to Manager as l expected a room with Wifi. Manager never appeared over our 2 night stay. Elevator is unsafe. The door opens before the elevator floor and lobby floor are aligned. At least 2.5 to 3” difference so you WILL trip! A small warning note is not enough! We had cutlery and glass mugs etc. in room. Their policy is you have to wash what you used as there is no room service unless requested. Strange, but okay….until there was NO DISHSOAP in the room! Inexcusable with Covid. Last night there l woke up to loud music despite wearing custom fitted earplugs. Hotel policy is be considerate from 10 p.m. to 10 a.m. Finally at 2 a.m. l dressed and went downstairs. The festive music was coming from the front desk computer! Rang the bell. Employee comes from a door down the room hallway. She looked as if she had been napping. She wanted to know which room l was in. It was the room directly above the front desk. She turned off the volume but never apologized for the breach of policy. Looks are deceiving. The only good thing was a comfy bed and okay breakfast. I’ve never had an experience like this in 45 years of travelling. I will never stay there again.

Stayed here for one night while in town. Very nice hotel with a pool and continental breakfast. We stayed in a suite which had a fridge, microwave, actual dishes and silverware. Room was spacious. We did however almost get locked out late at night because our key didn’t work and the front desk was closed. Fortunately we found a door unlocked.

Hotel lobby very pretty and the Exec Suite was excellent. Lots of space and the sofa bed surprisingly comfy. I would definitely stay again. Pillows however were lumpy and too soft. Continental breakfast had make your own waffles and all the usuals but muffins were undersized. Toilet plugged in the a.m. and the panicked young front desk gal was reluctant to leave her post with breakfast starting so she handed me the plunger to do the job myself and it hadn't been cleaned from the last occasion...ewwww! Asked for sofa bed linens and received only the top sheet not the fitted sheet, and no pillows, and the blanket was crispy and mouldy smelling so brought it to the front desk as they weren't answering the phones the entire wknd (Jul 7-9). had to make the sofa bed myself. Being a smallish hotel with little staff after 5pm I suppose I should have expected that. Some minor wall repairs were underway in the room and lobby with the plaster unpainted. Rated only a 3 because the service was so freaky. DIY sofabed and plugged toilet. Hmmmm

I’ve visited this place first in 2008 and 2013. 2013 I was really surprised that they haven’t renovated the place having the decor stuck in the late 1990’s. I wanted to give this place a try again based on previous experiences that were beyond expectations. I arrived at the hotel with only 2 cars in the parking lot and it was 4:00PM. I found that really odd because this place is always packed. Something seemed off. Greeted by the one staff I checked into my room, to find out the small restaurant and bar was permanently closed. This was a great feature to have and it was great, they always had some sort of entertainment. I was really disappointed. I walked into a very warm room and noticed that the rooms have not been touched or renovated since my initial visit in 2008. I turned the A/C on, the room was really stuffy and smelled closed in. The room took almost all night to get a bit cool. The AC unit was faulty all along, I had a hard time sleeping cause it was too warm, I did not feel like switching rooms as it was a hassle with a child. The ceilings were falling apart, plaster peeling. Fixtures in the washroom were all loose, mold and water stains in the ceiling. The kitchenette lacked utensils, dishes, cleaning products, like it used to have stocked automatically years past. The pool needed a lot of work and some TLC, the border around the pool looked like it had green algae stains and the hot tub was empty and not functional. The water left at the bottom of the tub has mold and algae growing. The place had small towels not big enough to use around your body. And there was 2 to share for the 8 total guests that were checked in. Breakfast was a joke and an embarrassment to even call it a breakfast, waffles were gross, you had to ask for eggs, sausages and utensils as they seemed to have a bare minimum on hand and too cheap to have the good stuff out and it was by order only only assuming not to waste food. There was a repair man that was servicing the ice machine, I took a look inside and it was disgusting. I was lucky not to get ice from this thing, the drain was plugged full of who knows what. I know you have to clean those out every 3-6 months as mold and algae will grow in them. This place is definitely not worth $198 per night, I will definitely not be returning. The new owners really have to step up their game in the hospitality business. Major upgrades need to be done to this place to keep business going. It is stating to look like an eye sore.

None of the services were available as advertised. 1) Deluxe continental breakfast was not even a standard continental breakfast that is offered at most hotels. No fruit, no meat (bacon or sausage, etc.) Shame on you for calling this a deluxe continental breakfast. Complimentary Deluxe Continental Breakfast 2) There is no bar or pub service as mentioned from this info on their website: Enjoy Stone Gate Inn’s evening reception with complimentary hors d’ oeuvres on Friday evenings from 5pm to 8pm. The intimate restaurant Fireside Lounge at Stone Gate Inn offers your favorite beverage, home-style dining choices as well as room service. Fireside lounge with a light pub-style menu & Bar 3) This was closed-Indoor Swimming Pool & Hot tub 4) This was no longer available since Dec 2022 per a sing in the lobby, but it is still on their website. For a thrilling getaway packed with excitement Stone Gate Inn has a perfect package for you. Don’t worry about anything because we’ll take care of everything for you including a round trip casino shuttle. 5) No longer Pet Friendly per a sign in the Entrance way, hope you didn't book & travel with your pet.

Very pleasant stay. Melanie at the front desk was friendly and accommodating. The bed was so comfortable. Kitchenette was a welcome addition to the room. The bathroom was clean with an excellent shower/ good pressure. Be aware that the Inn is now under renovation and the dining room is not available. However I selected my breakfast at check-in, and it was delivered to my room with a smile the next morning! I was pleased to receive gluten free bread as a dietary request… Looking forward to the new look when the renovations are completed. This is my second stay at the Stone Gate Inn, and I will be back again.
