First time in the area and SA, so asked local colleagues for tips and this hotel was chosen.
As always, however good a restaurant or hotel, the staff are the first and most important contact. Absolutely first class welcome and check in. Textbook information and advice. The room was great, maybe not so modern, but absolutely spotless, every single day, the house keeping lady on floor 5 rooms 515 to 500 was just lovely and so friendly.
We ate in the restaurant several times, obviously freshly cooked as we were sat near the open kitchen! Again absolutely fantastic staff and nice food, by night 2 was greeted by name and asked if I wanted my usual drink!
A great stay, but please, can someone thank all the staff, they are the stars of this establishment.

I spent two weeks at the Piazza Hotel Montecasino for business, and it was amazing from beginning to end! Starting with Sipho, the taxi driver who fetched me from the airport and took me to the hotel (and helped with daily transport to site) - he was a gem! Always on time, efficient and friendly. I strongly recommend his services. My room was always spotless, breakfast was great and so was the room service - the best soups and sandwiches I've ever had. The staff were so welcoming, helpful and always friendly. Being within the Montecasino complex provided us with endless dinner choices - we didn't have one bad meal. I would highly recommend the Piazza Hotel.

A very solid choice to base yourself from at a reasonable cost in you need to stay the night after a show. The room was very compact and bijoux but clean and efficient. The toilet could have done closing better! To be honest you spend much time in the room so it does everything well. The staff was ok more than brilliant but that works too. You are only meters to walk to the show and to the restaurants. Breakfast was comprehensive made from quality ingredients. With the price of food as it is today it's no mean feast. The staff serving breakfast were very much on the ball and friendly

The hotel itself is very centrally located and opens onto Montecasino Square with its plethora of restaurants. Upmarket ambience of the hotel and a private parking area completes the picture.
The room itself was quite small but adequately equipped with a separate loo and a separate shower. Tea and coffee station, TV, aircon, complimentary water, standard toiletries as well as small dressing table and hairdryer were in evidence
However there was nowhere to put a full sized suit case as the room allowed next to the coffee station was really only suitable for a an overnight suitcase. Not enough room on the floor either to put the case so had it awkwardly balanced on a bedside table - then I couldnt open the cupboard ... ho hum.
My biggest gripe was with breakfast. I was there for 3 days and each morning, there was an issue with the replenishment of the dishes on offer as well as long queues at the grill station for eggs with only 1 chef on duty. The fruit section was dismal - despite asking for replenishment of the empty dishes, the prep chef just ignored me and I gave up after asking for 2 mornings in a row. The same with the hot dishes - the grilled tomatoes were never topped up for example and the staff behind the counter were obviously poorly trained or disinterested in topping up dishes when items ran low or simply weren't there. It appeared the guests were mere inconveniences to them. I am aware there was a conference delegation there but the lack of service and staff to meet the needs of breakfast was entirely lacking.
It was really one of the poorest breakfast experiences I have had in a long while - thoroughly disappointing to say the least.

Strange room layout .Rather stay at the Hi Monti.
The room has a shower and bathroom only enclosed by glass not separate to the room. Basin is in the room.

I booked a birthday night as a treat for my husband. We are so disappointed in the state of the rooms. Some of the lights don't work and the reading lights next to the bed are falling out the wall! The door to the garden patio doesn't open and when we phoned reception they promised someone would come and open it, we asked the lady who did our turndown to report it and she said she would but no one came. There is no info in the room about meal times, the hotel or Monte Casino. The signal quality on the TV is terrible, no CNN, no Sky. No option to log into any of the streaming channels. The bathroom smells mouldy and the toilet seat is loose. You have to queue and wait to get a table for breakfast. All in all, not what I expected. I should have rather booked elsewhere!

Frequented the hotel many times over the years. Unfortunately, with this last visit it is sad to see how the hotel amenities are gradually in decline. From the Wifi and television remote not working in the room, mold surfaces in the bathroom and buffet breakfast which now had a minimal offering and inferior food quality to what is used to be, and where food gets packed away well before the breakfast cut off time. Unfortunately, it is obvious that the hotel has financial challenges. but chooses to continue to increase its rate in accordance with 5 star rate which is well overpriced for the quality. The positive is that the pool service at the hotel was great, however, this is where the hotel generates money.

The air conditioning in the room can be greatly improved. Did not work much at all. The rooms are very small but practical. Staff is friendly and very helpful. The breakfast included in the room rate was excellent(buffet breakfast with more than enough to choose from).
The bedding was clean and comfortable also the room. The wifi available although complimentary is unfortunately capped at 500Meg. That is unfortunate, because the in room entertainment(TV and DSTV) is very limited in channels. So you can’t even really use the wifi to stream Netflix, Dstv Now or Showmax.
Overall it was a great stay, but I would recommend not staying more than 2-3 nights as the room can become very small for lengthy stays.

The best stay ever. Staff, services as well as meals top quality.
Buffet breakfast was fresh and all dishes always filled up.

Your booking has been upgraded to the Southern Sun Montecasino Hotel.
Below are a list of safety protocols that the hotels follow:
All staff have received training on COVID19
preventative measures and hygiene protocols
• Educational signage is displayed for both staff and

No, the hotel does not have a pool as it is situated on the piazza that has the big water fountain that is made for running and playing in. All guest of the hotel can however use the pool of our sister hotel, Southern Sun Monte Casino which is just on the other side of the road about 120 meters away.
