As sensual and exotic as the hibiscus flower that bears its name, Bunga Raya Island Resort is a luxurious jewel set on a coral reef island just off the coast of Borneo. A secluded island hideaway of 47 timbered villas, the resort is framed by white sand beach and virgin jungle. Hillside villas reflect the simplicity of the Borneo architectural style. A hilltop spa blends the finest Traditional Asian and Western treatments using restorative powers of indigenous plants and oils.

We did a day trip from our hotel in KK. Absolutely recommended. A piece of paradise. The inclusive lunch was superb. The beach water really warm. The snorkeling was so so. Bit pricy but money well spent.

Good evening Mrs Toad, Bungaraya is a relaxed resort we do not impose a dress code in our restaurants, except for no swimming wear during dinner. However, for your comfort we recommend you wear light airy clothing for balmy evenings. We look forward welcoming you to Bungaraya Island Resort.

Security wise I think you’ll be fine. The only concern I would clarify with the hotel would be that many of the bungalows are up in the trees so the balcony’s are high up. This could be a little dangerous for little ones if unattended. I would perhaps ask the hotel for a bungalow which isn’t so high off the ground or see if they have adjoining rooms anywhere?
