Nayara tented camp does a great job of combining luxury while giving you an authentic Arenal experience. The private hot springs pools are the best. Nothing hurts me. The food at all their restaurants is excellent and does not taste like hotel food at all. Each restaurant gives you a different experience and they all have authentic Costa Rican dishes on the menu if that is what you wan. (my boyfriend did) the staff is always friendly, helpful and welcoming. The spa is relaxing and the yoga is great. Your room is always "magically clean". The tour guides are excellent and knowledgeable. I want to see the world and I never return to the same hotel as much as I might want to. But I will come back here. there is something very special about this place. Perhaps it is "Pura Vida".
One word: MAGICAL. I read about this resort in a local newspaper and had to add it to my bucket list. Right from the beginning we were treated promptly and with warmth. Our tent was beyond anything we could imagine and it was difficult to leave to enjoy the rest of the resort! All staff were friendly and anticipated what we needed before we asked. We got to see sloths, frogs, wild pigs, and many different species of birds right from our porch. Our view of the Arenal volcano was spectacular. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone who wants to see the magic of the rain forest and be pampered.
Do yourself a favor and book a stay at Nayara Tented Camp. It is impossible to imagine a better hotel experience in a more beautiful location with better food or better service. Everything about the hotel is meticulously crafted. The tents will most likely be the nicest hotel rooms you ever stay in and the hotel staff are some of the nicest people you will ever come across. The food is up there with any of the best restaurants in any major U.S. city at about half the cost. Nayara has won my wife and I over and we will soon be back to any of their locations. Be sure to research the seasonal weather in La Fortuna before you visit so you know what you are getting into, rain or shine. While none of these individuals solicited name recognition, we were moved by these individuals' service and wish to give special shoutout to Federico, our concierge; Christina, bartender at Lapas Bar; Andres, the bellman; Alex, waiter and sommelier at La Terraza; Josue, bartender at Amor Loco; Jason, waiter at Asia Luna; and Andrey, waiter at Cielto Lindo.…
EXCEPTIONAL!!!! If you are considering any hotel in Costa Rica, this is the one!! We have stayed in top tier luxury hotels all over the world across europe, indian ocean, middle east and asia pacific and this is one of the stand out hotel stays of my life - 5 star hospitality at its finest. Nothing is too much trouble, the setting cannot be beaten and the tents are better than a luxury hotel. We stayed with a baby and a toddler and didn't find the hotel to br inappropriate in any way for children- they were accommodating and our toddler loved the hot springs and exploring the property. Sloths were a highlight, as was the pool bar where we felt comfortable swimming with the kids. One thing to mention was we had to change rooms due to a very strong chemical smell in our original tent (apparently its the varnish used by the supplier). It was so overpowering it made me feel physically sick but the hotel were extremely apologetic and moved us immediately. We had absolutely no other issues- absolutely loved our stay! …
My husband, 6 year old son and myself stayed for five days. The location is perfect for tons of day trips! (Volcano hike, waterfall hike, river raft tour, sloth tour). The property itself is amazing and you can spend hours exploring and spotting tons of birds, frogs and sloths! The food is great and there are many restaurants to chose from. The room is the best I have ever experienced!
Incredible. We stayed in the tented camp. The room was beyond gorgeous. The surroundings were beautiful. The food was to die for. Amazing staff. Everyone went above and beyond. Would recommend for families or couples. Can’t think of a weakness.
Just returned from a week at Nayara. We stayed in a "family tent." The accommodations were extraordinary. The service - the same. The whole resort (which includes the Gardens and the Springs) is exceptionally beautiful and extremely private. We often wondered where all the people were as the resort was full. We saw people only at meals and a few at the pools. The 6 restaurants and food were all great. The staff is very guest oriented. They almost always greet you by name even just to drive you in a cart. The staff to guest ration is very high. Pros- private, beautiful, delicious, accommodating, clean. We loved private "in-tent" dining on our deck in the rain forest. Breakfast was included and truly wonderful. Restaurant breakfasts were also very good. We took several tours offered through Nayara (Frog Walk, Waterfall hike, Hanging Bridges, Coffee and Chocolate) all of which were great.) Wonderful wildlife viewing (Frogs, snakes, sloths, iguanas, birds, coatis, caiman, monkeys..). As for service - they go the extra mile. As an example, a bartender overheard our daughter and her fiancé talking to other newlywed couples honeymooning there about their recent engagement. That night, champagne, rose petals and a congratulations sign (in Spanish) was delivered to all three couples' rooms! Spa is beautiful and fitness center quite nice. Free laundry is a great extra. Stocked fridge with included non-alcoholic drinks and snacks was included with our room. The whole property is immaculately maintained. Cons - very hilly but they provide golf cart service to transport guests around the property which we needed frequently. Only had to wait more than 5-10 minutes on one occasion. While the thermal springs are beautiful, private and lovely, several of them are so thermal (hot), you can't even get into them. However, others are warm and one is even cool so no worries there. Not really a con but the weather is very unpredictable. The temperature for us was low-mid-80s. It was mostly cloudy. We did have at least some rain most days. I loved walking around and sitting on our deck listening to it. Only one full day of rain. Rain interfered with absolutely nothing. We plunged in our plunge pool in the rain ! TIP: Take ponchos/rain gear although the resort has ample umbrellas stationed everywhere, and disposable ponchos for the tours. Highly recommend this resort for a splurge vacation. It is pricey but you get what you pay for. …
My husband I spent a GLORIOUS week here for our honeymoon and every single minute felt like a fairy-tale. The tent, the pool, the grounds, the restaurants – we read dozens of glowing reviews for Nayara before we went, and I don’t think a single one did it justice. I also never took a single photo I thought ever captured the true beauty of the resort, either. I’m writing a review but I gotta admit to all of you: “Indescribable”. We flew into San Jose and our Nayara driver picked us up at our airport hotel. He was kind, patient, and showed us some sights on our 3-hour drive. I believe he said his name was Tucker and here’s a massive shoutout to his hospitality! Arriving at Nayara we were a few hours early but we had a lovely lunch by the pool, overlooking the very hard to spot volcano and it was majestic. Once we got to our room it exceeded all our expectations. I knew it was a volcanically heated pool but I still wasn’t prepared for the heat of it! It rains pretty frequently, even though we were in the dry season, and that rain cooled the pool to bathwater like perfection. The pool itself is about 8ft x 16ft x 4ft, if anyone is curious. We used the outdoor shower almost exclusively. The bed is incredibly cozy. There’s screens on the exterior doors if you’re worried about bugs and animals. And breakfast every day by our pool? HEAVEN. We were frequently visited by colourful birds, tiny lizards, and once by a lovely stray (not jungle) cat. Nothing else was ever in our tent area and we loved the little visitors we did get. We did a few tours but it was soooooo nice in that tent it was hard to leave. We stayed in 18 Titi. Excellent view of the volcano (when visible) and surrounded by so much greenery that it was ultra private. Every restaurant on the resort was delicious. Our faves were Luna (sushi) and Mis Amores. That mushroom risotto was the best I’ve ever had. We did two on resort nature tours, one each with Ana and Pablo. Both guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and could spot wildlife 200 ft away before even touching their scopes. We were so impressed! Loved both of them immensely. Isidro spent 4 hours with us wandering the hanging bridges and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He was always finding something to show us or tell us about and was just so kind and enthusiastic. (He made a Costa Rican restaurant suggestion in La Fortuna, Tiquicia, that we LOVED). Isidro, thank you so much for a day we can’t stop talking about. You’re amazing and we are so thankful we got to spend the day with you. The staff were endlessly kind. The resort was clean and well kept. Things to bear in mind: It will probably still rain, even in the dry season, but it’s warm and lovely. The volcano was only visible 2 of our 7 days but we’re on the edge of the cloud forest and nobody can control the weather. My husband got a few bug bites (I didn't) but, overall, the bugs weren’t bad at all during our stay. All I want to remind anyone about is that you (and the staff!) can’t control the weather or the animals. You’re staying in the rainforest! I only say this because I heard someone cruelly berate a staff member for it and it was just so unnecessary. Imagine staying in absolute paradise and being so bitter that you cause so much anguish to someone so kind. We had to leave at 4am to get to the airport and our shuttle driver was also very lovely, despite the unholy hour, and Nayara even packed us little breakfasts for the journey. It was the best week of our lives and before we ever left, we talked about coming back one day. Guys and gals, it was amazing. I hope you love it as much as we did. …
My husband and I went to Nayara Tented Camp for our honeymoon in November 2022 and we still talk about how incredible it was. From the moment we pulled up to the welcome tent from the second we left -- the service was unmatched anywhere we've been and our stay was absolutely perfect. Our tent had an incredible view of the volcano from our bed and porch. The tent was huge with so much space to unpack and really settle in. The soaking tub is a tub of relaxing dreams and our private hot spring was my favorite part. We would order breakfast every morning and a staff member would come in and set up a complete table for breakfast with a table cloth and everything. They put our table exactly in the right spot for a perfect view of the volcano, made our coffee for us and set out and unwrapped all of our food. I had the avocado toast every single day because it was the best I'd ever had. Back home I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I had multiple cups a day at Nayara because of how amazing it was. The staff was so sweet and attentive. We got local recommendations and it was always nice to strike up a conversation about Costa Rica with everyone. Jean Carlos Garcia went above and beyond for us. We cannot say enough amazing things about him. From the moment he greeted us and set up roses and champagne in our room, to leaving us a Happy Honeymoon sign and bag of coffee in our room, he is incredibly thoughtful and was always so pleasant. When a sloth was spotted on the grounds, he called us in our room and had a golf cart come and pick us up in our tent to go see the sloth. There was nothing like being under the rainforest trees and seeing animals in their natural habitat. My husband and I talk about going back all the time. Karina Aragon greeted us at the bar one night and made sure we received our complimentary welcome drink and Jason Gutierrez Zapata in the hotel's shop helped us ship many many many bags of chocolate and coffee home. We cannot thank everyone enough. When it came to activities, we were lucky enough to be booked with Andres for two tours: the nighttime forest walk and the waterfall and hanging bridges tour. His breadth of knowledge is like nothing we've ever experienced. He knew everything about everything and was absolutely amazing carrying around a telescope and binoculars to spot every little creature in the rainforest. We were even lucky enough to spot a sloth at night! We are incredibly grateful to him for making our tours so memorable and really educational. It gave us a new appreciative for the nature. In sum, we cannot say enough good things about this place. It is by far the best hotel we've stayed at and is sure to be unmatched. Absolutely book Tented Camp and you will not be disappointed. …
The Nayara tented camp is probably your best choice if you're looking for a luxury stay in Arenal. While not a true 5 star resort, the Tented Camp comes very close to it. It is the newest and most luxurious part of the Nayara resort complex which, by the way, is fully accessible to you as a guest here. The "tents" are really more of a misnomer as these are independent bungalows that have more the look and feel of something you would find at the St. Regis Bora Bora rather than in Costa Rica. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, modern, very secluded and have a direct view of the Arenal volcano. We specially enjoyed the hot spring plunge pool and relaxing area in in our (very secluded) back patio. The staff at the Nayara Resort complex was super friendly and helpful. Our every request was met promptly with a with a smile a quick solution. Their front desk staff were invaluable in helping us take full advantage of our stay there by recommending and helping us book amazing adventures in the surrounding areas. Their Spa was a bit disappointing as it was not up to the level of the resort, but luckily they are working on updating it. The main pool was amazing, but a bit too small for the size of the resort. I hope they would consider making a larger one somewhere else in the resort in order to have more options. All and all, we would 100% recommend the Nayara Tented camp for anyone looking for a romantic, luxury stay in the Arenal Area. We can't wait to get back!…
