AJH was an absolute delight from the moment we arrived at our hotel during the late evening, steeped in fog. We ferried across a small lagoon in a small boat in the pouring rain with the faint lights of the hotel swaying in the distance marking or journey. Think 'Heart of Darkness'!
The stairway up the short hill to the lodge was lit by a single string of incandescant lights over the dock and stairway as my group climbed our way up the steps to the hotel. We followed our guide to the registration desk and were met by our hostess to get organized, pick up keys and disburse to our rooms.
Our adventure was only beginning. To summarize, our local guide shared the beauty of the jungle with us for 3 days on short boat trips to visit the recent ruins of a luxury hotel on the river, the largest tree in the Amazon. We went Pirana fishing, hiked to explore the jungle wildlife and swam with the dolphins in a small waterway of the Negro river. We visited several villages where we enjoyed local crafts, music, dancing and a small granary where we were able to sample the handmade breads from the region.
The AJH staff made this truly authentic jungle adventure an awesome and memorable experience for which I am grateful.
Others have described the property so I will not elaborate experience to say they have done a great job of bringing together modern luxuries with the rustic accommodations to make a very comfortable experience.
Good food, good bar, good service, great excursions! Thank you.

We stayed here for 2 nights while we opted to do some Amazon River activities such as Pirhanna fishing, alligator sighting, etc.
The staff was very friendly. The tour guides were excellent. Our tour guide, Katia, could speak English. She was extremely helpful in customizing this tour to best suit us. The other guides were excellent at what they did - hunting for alligators, etc.
At this lodge you have many options. You can opt for activities such as jungle walks, visiting an Indian tribe, pirhanna fishing, alligator sighting, canoeing, etc. Or you can just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
The owner of the lodge is also an amazingly nice person. We had to leave at 12 noon to do some activities in Manaus. But our flight was at 12 midnight. So we had to wait about 8 hours in the airport. The owner invited us to her house where we were allowed to shower and sleep until we were ready to be dropped off at the airport. That bit of hospitality saved us a lot of anguish on this trip.

Our small tour group of 9 were sent to this hotel after the water level was too low for us to go to our scheduled eco-resort. While the Amazonian isn’t plush, it isn’t rustic either. The rooms, while not separate from each other, are more like cabins. There's so much going for this resort, so I’ll list the positives first. Very welcoming reception/check in. Comfortable twin beds and one set of bunk beds. Remodeled modern bathroom is very nice, but bring your own shampoo, conditioner (the combo packet doesn’t work all that well), and hair dryer. The owner/manager graciously found me a hair dryer. The balcony is small but so nice to look out into the jungle. The grounds are large and beautiful, with two pools, including a gorgeous infinity one. The walk to the river is spaced with paving stones. We enjoyed guided river trips to see birds and try piranha fishing. The meals (buffets) were plentiful and good if a bit repetitive. Our meals came with our tour, but we had to pay for all drinks (well stocked bar), including bottled water (none was provided in the room). But prices are very reasonable.
Now for the negatives, and they are significant enough that I cannot recommend this resort. I would never stay again. The walls is the room are paper thin. It’s truly as if there are no walls at all - voices next door carry into your room as if they’re standing beside you. The bathrooms are connected by an open vent, so you can hear all those noises, too. It’s almost impossible to enjoy your room in the day if neighbors are talking, and forget any sleep if they are night owls.
Additionally, the van the resort uses to transport guests from Manaus borders on dangerous. It is rickety, completely lacking in shocks, and uncomfortable, especially considering the long, winding rough roads to the resort - do not sit in the back 2 rows. Your back will be sore for days.
The van issue is easily remedied, although admittedly costly. I’m not sure how paper thin walls could be remedied, and it’s such a shame, considering all the resort does have going for it.

Our three day stay at this beautiful yet modest inn was one of the most memorable parts in our month long stay to the Brazilian Amazon. We enjoyed quiet relaxation on the grounds and in our rooms plus some very high quality adventure excursions for cayman hunting and piranha fishing. The staff were kind and very concerned with the quality of our stay. Meals were a tasty presentation of regional foods.

The maintenance doesn,t exist: the nets in the windows and in the bathroom are broken; on the floor a large crack showes the ground below and on the wall a hole showes the inside of the next room.
We stayed 3 days and our rooms have never been cleaned. In our bathroom we had, for all the journey, the trash can filled with dirty toilet paper (that you can not throw in the toilet).
Also the food: very little and without choice. At our arrival there was only chicken and a little potato that only a few lucky people managed to eat. The following days were added uncooked foods ( tomatoes, lettuce ) and another course but always poor to what has been paid. Very bad also the organization of the guides provided.

place in the jungle with great staff and the guide we had not from the hotel itself but associated was great. the rooms are a bit rustic and the place is old which does bring the grade down but not below a 4 at all. the key aspect for me was to experience real amazon forest in an as safe way as it can be. The service, food and the guide made all of this possible. the fact that the gym is hardly there, pool is small is not a key with a hotel in the middle of the jungle.
right behind the hotel there is a 3,5 meter cayman which frequently visits the hotel, right there you can catch piranas and during our visit Amazonas is floded so we live on an island in the middle of the waterworld. Great experience.

We just spent 3 days at this lodge. My original intent was to book the famous Ariau Lodge. Yet, following a friend's advice I booked this one. For about a third of the Ariau's cost we had a fabulous and personalized experience. Everyone in the staff went out if their way to make our stay pleasant. Starting with Raquel in Sales, that customized a package for us, and came to pick us up at the airport. The owner couldn't have been more gracious or helpful. She even arranged a driver for us for some sightseeing in Manaus once we left the hotel!
The cuisine was superb and the chef consulted with us about the menu prior to each meal. I have never received this level of care and attention.
I leave the best for less: we went there to see the forest. Our guide Joao was knowledgeable, patient and dedicated.
I will certainly return and bring friends!

Went there with my family during the Easter Holidays when it is high tide for the Amazon River. The hotel is absolutely brilliant. There is so much to do we had little time to enjoy the outside pool and beautiful gardens but certainly enjoyed a drink while the kids had fun getting to know the trees and plants around... I was a bit worried about all the crip crawlers that I know Brazil is famous for but the rooms are very clean and through out our stay of 7 days not one single beast was seen in the rooms!
The staff if very welcoming, Suelen is an amazing cook and João is the most incredible "caboclo" guide one could wish for. My kids love him. Socorro the owner is fantastic and took us all back to the airport kindly stopping at the market for a last visit. The whole thing was pretty amazing and I can not wait for a chance to return. Thank you all at the Amazon Jungle for this amazing Experience.
