We travel a lot and we frequently stay in places with high standards. But we hardly remember a place where we felt so welcome. There are no 4 or 5 star hotels in Khao Sok but in the MONTANIA Lifestyle Resort we experienced a truly outstanding service and general warmth and friendliness that made our 3 night stay an unforgettable experience. They may not be a 5 star resort and not everything is new but they offer an experience that has exceeded all our expectations. They pay great attention to little things which is something that we truly appreciate as frequent travelers. E.g. they offer a delicious free afternoon tea brought to where ever you are in the resort, the small but tasty breakfast buffet is always refilled and presented nicely, they prepared flashlights, towels etc. for our tour in the National park; they offered a free desert after every dinner (very good food; the massaman curry was outstanding). The bookings of our tours and transport was superbly organized.

We stayed in one of the more modern rooms on the top floor as my wife is scared of bugs and snakes. The room is not very big but has two big terraces with nice views over the gardens, pool and mountains, all the amnesties like a safe, TV, wifi, hair blower, coffee: tea and a minibar with snacks and drinks which was free of charge for us a comfortable big bed and fully intact mosquito blinds all around (not a given in many places). Everything was very tidy and clean. The small resort offers a restaurant, a pool and a spa for massages (which unfortunately we did not have the time to try). The resort is in the process of being extended but there is practically no noise or inconvenience for the guests. We look forward to see the resort again when the new part opens.

We arrived as guests but we felt that we left as family. We wish Sonne and her team of lovely ladies all the best and hope to come back soon. Thank you very much!

My experience at Montania was the highlight of my trip. My wife and I traveled thru out Thailand and stayed at fancy 5 star hotels everywhere we went. We got burned out and wanted a authentic Thailand experience in a beautiful nature setting away from the hustle and noise of the major touristy places. We decided on Khao Sok national park and we heard about this place from word of mouth so we decided to give it a shot.

What makes this place special is the staff. Upon arrival after a long journey we were greeted by warm smiles and friendly faces. We were both hungry and the lady assisting us told us about some dining options down the street and notified us that their kitchen was closed for the night but even offered to cook for us personally if we didn’t have the energy for the 5 minute walk down the street. That was really touching but we kindly declined and made our way to get some food. When we came back we told her we wanted to tour the lake the following day and she helped us organize the entire day trip, including transportation, meals, and sights we would be visiting. This included a hike thru a cave, a boat right on khao sok lake, and a jungle hike. We didn’t know what to book online and we were so glad to get this figured out in person with a local to get the experience that we wanted with our limited time there.

The room was cabin style and felt rustic and warm. Clean bed, clean shower, strong Wi-Fi, and small touches that made it special. The views from our porch were breathtaking. The following morning we went down to the lobby restaurant and meet Sonne, the hotel owner and chef of the property. Sonne is a very warm and dedicated small business owner and she made every effort to make sure we were enjoying our stay and felt comfortable with our accommodations. The breakfast was buffet style and the food was DELICIOUS! When we finished our breakfast we were excited for dinner that night because this woman knows how to cook!

Sonne gave us tips for our day trip and even provided us with water proof backpacks for our hike that day. Thank you Sonne!

This place and staff is an experience we will never forget. Thank you Sonne and everyone we meet for making us feel like old friends and giving us memories of a life time.

We loved our stay at Montania. We spent two nights in the Chalet room, which was small but very comfortable. The area is beautiful, and the hotel is basically right in the jungle and has incredible views from the room and pool. There are plenty of restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk down the road from the hotel. The staff are also great. Son (the manager/owner) helped us organize an overnight lake trip (which I highly recommend - Khao Sok is beautiful and staying the night on the lake was a lot of fun) and let us store our bags at the hotel while we were there. The breakfast was tasty, and we also organized transfers to and from Khao Sok through the hotel, which were quick and affordable. Highly recommend to anyone interested in getting out into nature while in Thailand!

We only stayed here one night arriving late and leaving early so its hard to give a detailed review.

When we arrived the reception area was very welcoming and the staff were brilliant, they got us checked in quickly as were tired after a long day. The room itself was a little quirky, it was a wood hut which was a little dated, it was comfortable enough for one night but it lacked the creature comforts that most hotels offer.

The ground at the hotel are excellent, and it was great to wake up to the sound of the jungle. And the views from the pool are were a bit special.

We did not eat here but the restaurant are was very comfortable and it looked like a great place to enjoy a meal.

Overall if this is a stopping point for one or two nights I would recommend it, and it was well priced.

If you want to visit Khao sok there is no better hotel.
We have traveled a lot in our lives and have stayed in hotels in all price ranges, from simple motels to luxurious 5 star resorts. But the staff and management of Montania Resort surpasses them all.
During our stay we were lovingly taken care of. It feels like you are staying with an exchange family. Really every single one of the staff and management were extremely nice and helpful.
After our check out there were problems with our onward travel to Samui. Due to a monsoon there were no ferries for two days. Therefore we were stuck on the mainland in Surat thani for two more days. The hotel on Samui was already paid and also there were problems with the transport company. Montania management heard about the monsoon and inquired if we were okay and offered to help. So we went back to Khao Sok and spent two more great nights at the Montania and the two kind ladies from the reception took care of all our problems while we enjoyed the extra time in the jungle.
In the end they didn't even charge us for the two extra nights! And all this after we had already checked out.
About the resort itself:
It is beautifully located overlooking the limestone cliffs.
About 10 minutes walk from the park entrance and 3-4 minutes to the nearest restaurants, bars and small supermarkets.
The wooden cabins are very clean and have all the amenities you need. The beds are comfortable.
you will have a beautiful and adventures time here.
The resort is currently being expanded with concrete cabins and another pool. But don't worry, you won't notice the construction work and the view is still beautiful.
I am already looking forward to the finished huts.
Thanks again to the lovely Montania team!
we'll come back for sure

This hotel gives you zen:) The view is so beautiful, and the location is great. You can walk 5 minutes to more restaurants, small shops etc.

The staff are so helpfull and kind- they really do everything to make you feel welcome. Specialy Knock Knock and their Chef:)

We loved the food- had both lunch and dinner and loved it:)

The cottage is clean, no bugs, nice beds, with AC and a fridge they fill up with free soda, water and snack.
They also give you a lovely afternoon tea, or like they did at new years- set up drinks and snacks for guests.

Our girls got a little gift when we left, and that was so sweet.

We would def come back!!!:)

From the moment we arrived we were greeted with a big smile before we even got off the motorbike. Khun Son, the owner, facetimed us to welcome us and apologised for not being on site. However, she came and saw us shortly after and made sure we were happy with everything making us feel very special.
The villa we stayed in was of traditional Thai style with veranda, perfect for us with everything we needed.
The swimming pool was a blessing after a day in the heat. Afternoon tea was brought daily with lovely homemade Thai specialties made by Son. She then discussed breakfast requirements. Breakfast was plentiful, hot, fresh and just perfect. We booked 2 nights but stayed for 3 as really didn't want to leave.
Highly recommend a stay here in beautiful grounds and first class hospitality.
Thankyou Khun Son and team, we will definitely be returning.

We stayed here for a few nights in Jan 2020 and we had a fantastic time. Our family bungalow was huge, there is a lovely reception area and restaurant, but the best part is the infinity pool set in the lush gardens with a stunning backdrop of the mountains behind you. Most people come here to organise trips into the National Park but we loved the hotel so much we ended up just relaxing by the pool for a couple of days! Pool also has a nice big shallow corner for kids & amazing happy hour cocktails.
Staff were very friendly and can organise any trips you want to do. We did the jungle cooking which we organised ourselves also highly recommended.
Thanks for a memorable stay

Visiting Khao Sok National Park was a highlight of my Thailand vacation. This hotel is in a beautiful location and has an amazing view. The pool is a wonderful way to cool down after a day of hiking. Staff were very nice and one gentleman in particular seemed genuine when he said he would miss us when we left. The grounds are well maintained which I imagine keeps the mosquito and monkey population down. Some may find the rooms a little primitive but I think that’s the norm in Khao Sok. Actually I think the rooms here are a step up. The door had cracks in it but no bugs entered the room. There is no storage in the room but the air conditioning is good. The town has a real frontier feel to it which is kind of fun.

Montania Lifestyle hotel in Khao Sok is a very (wooden) authentic hotel with a great location at the beginning of the road that leads to Khao Sok National Park. The rooms are situated in a very nice garden with a nice pool. But the best thing are the people who are working there, the ladies at the reception are so lovely, friendly and very kind, they are allways ready to help you with everything ! I recommend this place very hard, thanks for the great service too, and we hope to come back some day ! Best Regards, Ronny & Katleen from Belgium.

We shared a cab with other travellers. That was more convenient for than looking for a bus or so and also not too expensive.

No, we used our credit card here to pay for everything. When we first checked in they took our credit card info, and then just charged everything (including day trips they booked for us) to that card when we checked out. It was very simple and they explained all of the charges.
