My family and I went on the Jungle Lake Safari at Elephant Hills - a 3 day, 2 night experience, I would highly recommend this, it's a great way to experience the beauty of Khao Sok National Park.

It includes all transfers which is brilliant, it meant we could just relax and enjoy the trip. The drivers were friendly and professional, the vans were clean and in great condition.

The accommodation was great. The Elephant Camp rooms are described as tents but there is nothing camp like about them! The rooms are spacious, clean and there were absolutely no issues with mosquitoes inside the tents! The down sides are the resort is located near the main road so you do hear traffic noise and as you are kept busy from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave, you really don't get a lot of time to enjoy the rooms! The Rainforest Camp rooms are less luxurious but given they are floating in the middle of Cheow Larn Lake, an hour from anywhere, they are adequately equipped, clean and comfy.

The elephant experience was hands down my favourite thing of the safari. To have the chance to be up close with these intelligent and beautiful animals was very humbling. As part of the experience, you have the chance to feed them and given them a wash and just watch them chilling out. Fantastic!

Another highlight was our guide, Sam. He stayed with us from arrival to departure and was absolutely lovely! Really thoughtful, knowledgable and went out of his way to make sure we were all happy and enjoying the safari.

The food was good, the menu is tailored to western tastes with a mix of Thai dishes (that aren't too spicy) and western options (like nuggets and chips) which is handy if you're travelling with picky eaters.

Final few things to note which weren't a big deal for my family but could be deal breakers for some. At the lake you are required to wear a life vest when in or on the water, irrespective of your age or swimming ability. It's a law so there's no getting around it. And there is no alcohol served at the Rainforest Camp, which admittedly was a surprise for me as I don't think it's mentioned in the booking. I suspect it's another safety precaution.

Despite these little caveats I highly recommend Elephant Hills, the activities were great, the staff were brilliant. It's a must do if you're visiting Thailand!

We went for the Safari 2 nights 3 days and it was full of engaging activities. We found it was the right amount of activities for the time we were there. The tents were spotless, the food had a good range (I'm a vegan and ate very well, they would leave the vegan options out with your tent number) and delicious, the staff were attentive and super friendly. They really think about you and your experience.. on our last day we went for the jungle trek (very fun especially the cooking demonstration) they allow time for you to get back shower and pack before heading home/next location. The only thing I was hesitant about was the treatment of the elephants but after speaking to the staff, seeing them with these beautiful creatures and watching the informative videos I learnt it was a haven for them. The worst they were made to do was eat and bath. Would highly recommend this experience to anybody. A special thank you to Vim, our tour guide, who was amazing.

My sister and I were planning beaches and Thai food pamper trip and found this site and it looked interesting. From the moment we decided to book, this place took over in the most professional easy way. Pick ups arranged from our hotel (hours away) they were on time, and super professional. Then we arrived! Attention to detail is paramount here, scenery, tents, bedding, bathrooms, and the food and bar is amazing!! They not only address all your needs, this place has anticipated guests' needs and supplies it abundantly yet subtly. The variety of adventures in the three day two night stay is perfect: elephants, long-tail boats through Karst mountains, kayak into Nat'l Park, jungle trek, cooking demonstrations, the freshest foods prepared by the best staff. We had Venus as our host, she was exemplary. They work with interns also, we had Wave, and he's going to make a fine host. Their English is very good so no problem communicating via phone, email, or in person. The cook on our jungle trek, Amos (?!) was superb! Thank you all EH for a memorable experience for me and my sister.

We have just returned from Thailand and part of our trip was 3 nights at elephant hills. Situated in the stunning Koh Sok National Park, your accommodation is a very well appointed tent with double bed and separate shower. On arrival you will be split into groups of around 10 and you stay with that group the whole time. Your days are very organised with our first being the elephant experience. The elephants are well cared for and look happy. It’s sad that after logging stopped in Thailand they were redundant; often begging on the streets with their mahouts. I would rather they were wild but sadly no land left for them now so let least this ensures their survival. You watch them bathe, feed them and them a hose down and scrub with a coconut husk. Other activities include canoeing through mangrove swarms, kayaking in park, swimming and a walk In the jungle where the chef cooks you delicious lunch. It’s all inclusive as nowhere else to go, communal tables which means you meet lots of people from all over the world and food is good. Early nights, everyone leaves dining room/bar before 10!! Thanks to our guides Toh and Aof.

We booked our trip to Elephant Hills because having an opportunity to see elephants up close and to interact with them was something my wife had always wanted to do, so we booked a two night/two location stay.
The main Elephant Hills camp is very well organised & comfortable. The tent accommodation is well appointed with en-suite facilities. The food is good & plentiful and the staff very helpful.
You are allocated a guide for your stay and ours, Chief, was great. She was very knowledgable, helpful, organised & funny. We were part of a group of about twelve and Chief did a good job guiding us during the three days we were there.
The elephants aren’t wild but they live in a sanctuary run by Elephant Hills and seem to be very well cared for. The experience is one of the best things I have done on holiday. The elephants come to a barn where you can pet them & prepare and feed them a snack; a huge quantity of fruit & veg but a snack for an elephant! The elephants splash around in their pool & then you get to wash them down. We enjoyed it & I hope the elephants did.
The first day was finished off by a canoe trip down the river & a few sightings of local wildlife.
The second day started with a good breakfast & the journey to the floating lake camp with a quick stop at a local market on the way. You can’t buy alcoholic drinks in the National Park so this is an opportunity to get a couple of beers or a bottle of wine, although we and most others didn’t bother. Soft drinks are free at the lake camp. After a quick stop at the park view point (and toilet), the trip continues on a long tailed boat to the camp.
The lake camp is similarly organised to the main camp. The floating tents are the same with the same facilities as those in the main camp, with one exception: no mains power. The lighting and fans are powered by solar panels so normal appliances won’t work. The food is as good as the main camp. Swimming and canoeing is available anytime during daylight.
While at the lake camp we did a jungle trek & a canoe trip; both very enjoyable & well guided.
There are informative videos about the general rain forest wild life, elephants & the National Park shown during the trip & plenty of displays with useful information.
We travelled from Khao Lak & the return journey is about 2.5 hours with Phuket about 3.5.
The trip was really worth doing & made all the better by the people we met & our guide Chief.

Thoroughly enjoyed my time at Elephant Hills and found the 3 day Jungle Safari to be a fantastic itinerary filled with a wide range of varied activities and transport options, to suit different types of guests, whether you're a solo traveller, couple of family. Very good for children.

The tents and public area facilities are striking, great quality and exceptionally well kept with plenty of room to spread out even with guests coming and going with various excursions. Operationally very well run, with excellent guest service from all staff, especially the guides.

I would highly recommend Elephant Hills to all.

We came on a 3 day/2 night stay here whilst transferring from one hotel to another. The whole experience was good fun and our guide, Toh, was excellent. The efficiency of this set up can not be overstated, despite a varied itinerary. We really enjoyed getting up close to the elephants, feeding and washing them. The overnight stay on the lake in floating tents was also a highlight with stunning scenery. Gibbons can be heard throughout the day and some people are lucky enough to actually see them. The accommodation is called a 'tent' but not many tents have toilets and showers! The catering was impressive as well given the location.

My fiancée and I visited elephant hills this month on the 3 nights 4 days package. We both enjoyed the elephant experience. Our guide bamboo was fantastic. She was really informative, friendly and enthusiastic. We thought it was great how we got feed and wash them, just a shame it lasted 2 hours.

The next day activity was a stop at a local market and then a speedboat to the rain forest camp. Again we enjoyed it even though you have to wear life jackets at all times even swimming but hey ho you can’t argue with the rules.

We didn’t take part in the third or fourth days activities as my fiancée is pregnant (we only found out a day before coming to Thailand and didn’t want to waste our money by not going at all). We felt going on boats on the sea wouldn’t be good for the baby. And they wouldn’t let us do the treck either which is fine. They offered to let us go and do the elephants again which was good. All the staff have been very understanding about the whole thing which is good! However neither of us wanted to the activity on the 3rd day because even the guide him self said it’s the same as the 2nd day just on the sea instead. Not very imaginative is it.

I do agree with other comments very school trip like, quite regimented. And yes the beer is expensive. You even have to pay for soft drinks and a water bottle, which you give back and they reuse anyway. The food was average. Poor selection and the same day in day out. The accommodation and facilities are spot on though. Felt it would of been better to stay 1 or 2 nights instead of 3.

Disappointing. Having read the reviews and looking at the gallery I was so excited to be going here. Booked this trip for a special birthday for the ethical elephant experience. Yes they provide lots of activities kayaking guided trek camping on a lake...... and food, guides etc are all good. However I booked this for the elephants which amounted to 2 hours in the 3 days you stay there. You do not stay near them. Elephant camp is a short drive from the elephants. The bathing is elephants standing on a concrete base 5 in a row whilst 4 guests gather round 1 elephant and use a hose to bathe it and a small piece of coconut skin to scrub it. In all about 15 mins. Feeding them was good. Overall disappointed and I would not recommend it if you are going for the elephants. There are lots of other elephant sanctuaries. which are ethical around.

Hi there Andrea, Thank you so much for your feedback and leaving a review! We are sad to hear that our Elephant Experience didn’t live up to your expectations. At Elephant Hills we strive to provide our guests a natural soft adventure experience in the beautiful Khao Sok Rainforest. As such our tour packages include several soft adventure activities our guests can experience. Of course, one of our highlights is the ethical Elephant Experience which does not include any riding, chains or hooks! But in order to provide our gentle giants the best life possible we also want to give them enough time and freedom during the day to just be elephants without human interaction. That is why you will only spend certain time with the elephants before moving on to explore the many other wonders the Khao Sok Rainforest has to offer. Animal Welfare is our highest priority and we’ve recently been awarded the Global Spirit award achieving a 100% in core criteria and exceeded requirements in categories enclosures and environmental complexity, veterinary care, movement of animal, record keeping and food preparation and storage. You can read more about these processes on our website and how we ensure the well-being of our elephants. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed feeding our elephants and hope that we could elaborate the situation a little further. Thanks again and best regards, Elephant Hills Team

Take the 2 night or 3 night packages and stay at both sites in Khao Sok, you will not be disappointed!! We took the 2night, 3 day package and stayed at Elephant Hills for 1 night and did a few of the activities - including meeting and feeding the elephants, then we moved to Rainforest Camp out on the lake for our second night, no wifi or phone signal, it was great!!
If you don't like nature and meeting beasts of all sizes then this isn't for you but we loved it (even one of our teenagers who hates all things with more than 4 legs).
The jungle trek is tough but worth it, but you can also stay at the lake camp and swim and kayak rather than do that.
Food is great, you pay for your drinks and settle up (cash only - in Thai Baht) on departure from each location. Filtered water is free, they even provide your own thermos bottles for the duration of your stay!!
Special mention to the two guides we interacted with most - Deen, as our group guide, an absolute star, informative, funny and looks after his guests. And Pond, who did some talks and presentations for her group and ours, also very informative and helpful.
Go for it!!!
