I am a father traveling with my 10 year old son. We stayed at Las Orquideas resort for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The villa/room was lovely, clean and air conditioned and included it’s own patio. The breakfast service was fast and food was delicious. Mr. Chot, the innkeeper, was incredibly attentive to our every need. He helped organize our trips to explore the park and arranged other transportation as well. The property is immaculately manicured with beautiful plants and sounds of nature fill the air.

The hotel has an excellent position in the village of Khao Sok, within easy reach of many good restaurants and the National Park. Mr Choi, the Manager was superb, thorough in his knowledge of the area, very organised in booking additional trips and very helpful. The breakfasts were very, very good, far better than in other comparable hotels near other National Parks. The room was clean and the service good each day.
Each room was set in a lovely garden but steep paths and steps could have been a problem but lifting of cases was done by the staff so that was alleviated.

We decided to stay overnight in Khao sok as part of our holiday.
We arrived by bike much earlier than the check in time and were met by Katelyn and their two and a half week old son. Our room wasn’t ready but Katelyn was super friendly and allowed us to leave our bags with her. We headed into town for a wander and something to drink:
When we got back we met Michael who was also super friendly and welcoming. They have only recently reopened after taking over and renovating the place.
The bungalow we had was lovely and had everything we needed.
The grounds were just like being in a rain forest and the small pool was great to cool off in.
The location was convenient being just on the edge of Khao Sok village and was a 5 min walk to the bars and restaurants.
Breakfast was really chilled and tasty with a number of options, we had the pancakes which were amazing and very filling.
Both Michael and Katelyn were amazing hosts and very knowledgeable about the area and able to book trips if required.
We both enjoyed chatting to them and which them every success in their adventure.
You will not be disappointed if you chose to stay here.

We stayed for 3 nights at the resort.
The owner greeted us very friendly and made a great effort we had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious. The pool OK, the rooms were quite clean. The resort in itself nice.

I would not however book a tour in the hotel.
We had quite a weird experience there and I feel deceived concerning the price.
We booked a walking tour to see the raffesia. The tour cost THB 500 per person + the ticket for the national park and according to the owner the tour was "easy trail". We got picked up and we're brought to the national park where we were accompanied during the tour by rangers none of which spoke a word of English. The tour was everything but easy trail and we had to turn around and go back after 30 minutes.
I wonder how much longer the tour would have been, because we did see the raffesia and I didn't have the feeling we missed much.
Paying so much for the tour seems quite over priced when I look back on the tour. I don't know whether we got taken for granted by the hotel manager. Offering a tour with guides, who don't speak a word of English is not very well organised.

Response from francisco t, Owner at Khao Sok Las Orquideas Resort
Responded 14 Jan 2020
Dear Mr. Client, We thank you for your words of thanks to our resort and we welcome your satisfaction with your stay with us. On the other hand, we also have to thank with his criticism, about his not so pleasant experience, about the visit to the natural park to visit the raffesia flower and we are not only glad of the positive criticisms, but also of the negative, but constructive criticisms, They help us to rectify and improve our service, which all our clients demand and deserve. I personally, and Mr. Chot, (our manager), feel sad, of not having fulfilled, with your expectations about it I have been talking with him, and I have asked him why I do not explain everything, correctly, about this activity, and he has acknowledged, his fault and he has transmitted to me that he apologizes for what happened and feels very sorry for not transmitted, everything correctly. In general, Mr. Chot, doesn't make these mistakes, and I invite you if you have a little time, look at other comments of our resort, and you will see that most of our clients, they adore our manager, the Mr. Chot and we even have problems if one day he has become ill, or, on his days off, when the clients check in, they always ask for Mr. Chot. That said, I only have to apologize once again, and thank you for helping us improve, in our customer service, and if you come back to Khao Sok again and want to visit us, we will try to compensate. with a more enjoyable stay than you and your family had,. We wish you that if you are still on vacation in Thailand, be as pleasant as possible. Sorry, for not writing English correctly

We had a wonderful time at this resort. Our host Mr Ohm(nibus) was the most perfect host one could ever imagine. A beautiful person, friendly and helpful with only the guests wellbeing in mind. The rest of the staff is also very kind, friendly and helpful, under the watchful eyes of mamma Tina, the owner's mother. Every day roomcleaning and changing of the towels is standard.
A small scale resort with huge potential, the rooms are clean and beautifully situated in a lush green garden filled with all kinds of vegetation and many, many little frogs giving us a concert in the early evenings. Though the choice of breakfast on the menu isn't very large, our host Mr. Ohm(nibus) took care of all our wishes....boiled eggs instead of fried, extra bacon instead of potato crösti pancake etc. Even peanutbutter was on the menu!
The last evening of our stay at las orquideas my wife and I were invited by Ohm(nibus) to join the entire staff for dinner to celebrate their short vacation (3 days) that was starting the next day. A wonderful experience and a great way to meet these wonderful people in the most personal way.

Well kept bungalows in a beautiful garden surrounding, with soft beds and nice bathrooms. Swimmingpool is OK, a bit dirty. Staff is very friendly and breakfast is good quality. Khao Sok is rather touristy, especially the tours, but the lake is stunning so it's worth it

Wonderful hotel with amazing staff. The hotel arrange for us to get picked up at Surat Thani after a 10 hour overnight train. The driver was waiting for us when the train pulled into the station. It took about an hour and half and the driver was very safe and kind. We had a very warm welcome at 8.30 in the morning. Breakfast was simple but sufficient. Check in wasn't til 12 so we left our bags at the hotel and went for a walk. The hotel was in a great position at the end of the road. Very quiet but close to a lot of restaurants and bars. We enjoyed a quiet place called Blackstone. Great prices and quite hippy. Very chilled evenings spent there. The hotel organised a tour to the elephant santuary, jungle cooking and the lake for an overnight stay. It wasn't the cheapest place to book through but it was lovely to leave it all to someone else. Highly recommend all of these tours especially the elephants and the cooking school. The night on the lake was an experience and we saw wild elephants with babies which was amazing. The transfer was quick but didn't stop at the supermarket (luckily we had taken things with us) and when we arrive "Bong" (our guide) did not explain where we could get fresh water and tea and coffee, so took a while to get a drink. The towels were not in the bungalow so had to ask as we only had 30 mins for a swim before our first trip out on the boat. It did get very hot at night, but it was only one night and a great experience not to be missed.
Ps Loved the noisey frogs in reception in the evening. Couldn't believe how small they were.
Thank you to everyone at Las Orquidas

Family and friends group of 8 adults had a fabulous time at this recently reopened resort under new young American couple.
Despite a couple of minor teething issues, that were readily solved, we had a great stay and we’re well looked after. Resort is very authentic jungle bungalow accommodation with great balconies that we really enjoyed in the evenings. Location just perfect and a good quality breakfast each day.
Would highly recommend!
Thank you Michael & Katelyn for everything and wishing the best success going forward.

The hotel is located in the mainstreet of Khao sok village, so the restaurants, laundryservices and trip operaters are near to the hotel.
The rooms are fine, nice shower, good beds, refrigerator and airco.
The swimmingpool is small, but for a quick dive its fine.
The owner can inform you clear about the many trips that will be offer you in Khao Sok.
For breakfast you can choose from a couple of breakfast dishes, not special but fine.

Near to Khao Sok, Katelyn, Mikel and little Odin manage this very nice resort. It is impressive how this young friendly family is managing this resort. After 3 years Corona they took over the responsibility for the resort some month ago. At the same time her son was born.
You don’t feel anything from this strain. With his optimistic and powerful nature Mikel tries to sort out every question and problem he is faced with.
The resort itself consists about 20 huts, build up in a mountain. The houses are very stable and comfortable. A little pool is part of the resort, good to refresh after a trip in the national park or other activities.
As a coffee junky I want to emphasize the Espresso and Cortato they are serving… first choice
Warm wishes and all the best to that wonderful family living their dreams. Chris & Uwe

Hello gsm1966     At the airport exit, there is an agency, Phantip, which organizes public transport, from the airport, Surat Thani, Khao Sok, for about 400 bht approx.   If you prefer the taxi, you can rent it in the same airport, and depending on the quality, the taxi, for a price of 1800 or 2000 baht.   You can also contact our resort, through our website and reserve a private taxi.   I hope that the information is of interest to you, and if you have more questions, please get in touch by our wueb, thank you.
