After a booking for another hotel fell through, we were extremely lucky to get 3 rooms for 6 people here. The staff were extremely friendly, the breakfast was superb and dinner had some good variety. Of our three rooms, two were lovely - recently decorated, units to put away clothes and good bathrooms, however our room wasn’t done quite as nicely, seemingly needing a makeover, particularly in the dated bathroom, and some more storage. The location was good, being half an hour drive from Norwich or Great Yarmouth and right on The Broads.
With the current situation, we all felt very safe there - masks on around the hotel, masks worn by staff and distancing, as well as room service being suspended.
Thank you very much to Amber who made sure we were all looked after and made us feel super welcome.

The night we were there it was run by two young people, the barman was doing bar outside cleaning , restaurant drinks, and a waitress for the food. Were was the staff. outside tables full of glasses. Only One Chef so limited on the meals, but we managed to get a table . The steak meal was very good , but this place is over priced at £9.50 for large Vodka and Tonic and just short of £25 for a steak and chips meal.

The whole of the building is a bit tired and in need of smarting up and airing. The pub has lots of charm but has not been looked after very well.
Our bedroom had been partly upgraded and smelt lovely. The bed was very comfortable though the pillows were lumpy. Mugs, tea, hot chocolate and coffee were provided and a biscuit the first day. The full sized kettle was filled using a mug. Would have liked the ceiling cobwebs to be removed and the stain on the chair to be cleaned or covered. Broken chest of drawers.
The bathroom had a new shower but the base facia was in need of replacing.
For the light sleepers our room was above a generator so a good nights sleep was gained by the use of ear plugs.
The staff were all lovely and helpful but were not turned out very professionally.
There was nearly an hours wait for our meal but when it came it was good.

We stayed at this Gem on the Broads for a very much enjoyed, relaxing long weekend

Last time we stayed wasnin 2016. Since the Hotel has been refreshed and further improved... Our room was comfortably furnished, with a very nice bathroom, shower and tea/coffee & kettle, TV, etc

Sutton Staithe Hotel is ideally located for exploring, walking and just relaxing - all of which we did. Thoroughly enjoying

The Hotel has an excellent kitchen that cooks quality food, including daily specials. A well stocked Bar with a good selection on larger, berrs, wines, etc 🍻

Friendly and helpful staff

Much enjoyed, highly recommended and we will be coming back 😀 👍

This was our second stay in this excellent hotel and we were not disappointed. We felt relaxed and confident with the Covid-safe measures in place (mask wearing and sanitiser). Our room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and sensibly furnished. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful, looking after our every need. We had an excellent evening meal with friends, who were moored up at the Staithe, and also breakfast with them the following day. We didn't see the Manager this year but Amber was a credit to them. We would not hesitate in recommending this hotel and indeed returning again in the future.

We booked a three night stay with the hotel, taking our Staffie along. The room was more than adequate - a large and comfortable bed, nice shower room, wardrobes, well kept.
The f ood was extremely good value. Don't go expecting haute cuisine, this is very much standard pub fare - steaks, burgers, pie of the day, fish and chips, scampi, lamb shank. It is very well prepared and promptly served. Very good full English breakfast.

Nice small bar with reasonable prices, good real ales and very friendly locals.

The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful, especially to our dog, who was fussed by most people in the pub during the stay!

At £57 per night and the dog free, this is great value for money.

Lovely hotel with comfortable rooms, large beds, ensuite, tea making facilities, towels and body wash. Breakfast was delicious cereals, fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries, croissants, bread or you can toast it in the provided toaster and then hot breakfast from the menu. We both had full English. It was curry night special the previous evening which was also excellent. Our previous visits we also tried the fish and chips. The batter was made with their beer, chunkiest chips, peas, pickled onion, lemon, tartar sauce and bread and butter. This was the best I have ever eaten in a restaurant.

This place is a Hidden Gem, myself and my husband had a 3 night stay over the Easter weekend , the new manager and his partner made us more than welcome. The room was fabulous with a lovely view of the broads , large wall mounted TV, bed was queen size , bathroom was a great size ,fresh towels and a shower gel ,the shower was fabulous, there were also tea and coffee making facilities in the room !! With biscuits too.
Breakfast was self serve with a choice of cereals , toast and preserves , fresh fruit and yoghurt with also a range fruit juices, tea and coffee as well as cooked breakfast which we have to say was exceptional.
We had dinner 2 out of the 3 nights and again the meals were fantastic excellent value for money, and extremely tasty too(compliments to the chef/s. The people who frequent this place as a local were super , they made us welcome and all seemed very pleasant . The pub was also Dog friendly too. Highly recommended, we shall definitely return for another visit .

4 of us turned up for Sunday lunch at this establishment which is located in a nice setting near the river.
We arrived at the appointed time and were served drinks at the table. No menus were provided and it seemed as if a carvery meal, at £10-95, was the only option. Luckily none of us were vegetarians. We were given a choice of pork or beef and one opted for the pork with the other three choosing beef.
We then waited and waited for the food to come and, after several enquiries, it turned up after about 45 minutes. The place didn't appear to be particularly busy so such a wait was unacceptable to us.
When the food was served, it had a large Yorkshire pudding on top but very little food underneath. I have had many carvery meals in the past but this was the most meagre offering of food served by quite a long way. The food itself was, at best, only lukewarm with parts of the meagre offering being cold. The beef was way undercooked and there was blood oozing from it on my plate. I couldn't eat it and the dog in our party was given it.
We wanted to go on elsewhere so we just complained about the food being cold and the size of the offerings but I certainly can't recommend eating here to anyone based upon our experience.

This is a small hotel with friendly staff. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The bedroom contained a TV, tea and coffee making facilities, chocolates and biscuits. The bathroom was equipped with a heated towel rail. There was under bed storage which was very useful. At breakfast the food was delicious and the coffee excellent. The service was excellent.

There is plenty of free parking. The hotel is easy to get to and is set in a beautiful canal side location.

There are a number of free moorings at the Staithe, however they do fill up pretty quickly especially during the main season, my advice is to try and arrive early afternoon to ensure a place. If you can get there by say 2.30 pm you should be ok, as a back up Sutton zStaithe Boatyard usually have a space if you pre book. Hope this helps, enjoy your holiday.
