We stayed one night for a family gathering nearby and the staff were very obliging. Parking is limited and can be very tight for those with big cars. Our room was bijou but had all that we needed. Of particular note was the bed linen, which has to be the best I have ever experienced. Currently, no restaurant, but there are two Indian restaurants and three pubs within walking distance, so food is not a problem.

Dear wightgt, Thank you for taking the time to post a review which is greatly valued. I am pleased you found the team members helpful and that the room allocated met with your requirements. Our guests often comment on the comfort of the beds and the quality of the linen and I am delighted to learn it was the best you have experienced. Our sister property Lilly's located directly opposite the hotel and serves Breakfast, light refreshments and Afternoon Tea and as you mention there are a number of Restaurants and Pubs located in the Market Square. Hoping to have the opportunity to welcome you back. Regards. Alison The Old House Hotel

Spent a few unexpected days here on the recommendation of a local friend.

The property has had the benefit of a full refurbishment, my bedroom was immaculate and i enjoyed a few restful nights.

Breakfast was first class and I can highly recommend the in house restaurant ( suggest you book as it is very popular ). Theres an extensive selection of wines to suit most plates.

Big thankyou to al the staff and front of house team whom are very accommodating to requests and variations

We popped in to have a look at breakfast menu and was surprised at how reasonable it was . I’m sure many people don’t know you can go in and eat if you aren’t a guest so maybe a priced menu outside would bring in more customers. It was quiet and I was surprised by this as there aren’t many places for a good breakfast in Wickham Square . Service by Parris was amazing he was exceptionally helpful and explained how the membership etc worked and told us about the spa you could join in the hotel which again we had no idea about. Food came very quickly , it was hot and tasty and we would 100% recommend for brunch and was a reasonable price for such good food and surroundings . Going to try for an evening meal very soon. Can I start by saying I have been frequenting the Quob Estate establishments in Wickham since they opened. Initially it was a go to for breakfasts, coffees or a special occasion. We loved it!
Over recent months I have been sad to see the quality of food and service go steadily downhill. I’m always one to give benefit of the doubt, so a couple of less than amazing visits have gone without comment.
Today we popped in to the hotel for lunch and paid £59 for two sandwiches, a glass of sparkling and some water.
I’ve no objection to the £16 I paid for a glass of English Sparkling wine, we all know a glass of English wine is going to be costly… what I do object to is that the sandwiches were £20 each and to say they were average is erring on the side of kindness. I ordered the classic club sandwich, which came ensconced I the kind of bread I could’ve bought, pre packed, at a cash and carry, and contained red onion chutney and what looked to be mustard. My husband’s review of his steak sandwich is less kind than mine… The staff at the hotel were most welcoming, which is more than can be said for our most recent visit to the tea room, which led to my friend walking out.
Not only that, but the tea room was closed, the vineyard, which has just reopened, is members only, and the hotel seems to be filled with its old furniture giving it a very mismatched and dated feel, and the garden at the hotel was closed, despite the fact it was a glorious 23 degrees.
Such a shame to see what was a favourite and highly recommend spot go so sadly downhill. Unfortunately, not sure we will be back.

We came here for a birthday lunch and the experience was pretty poor. The food took so long we had to move our cars as we'd gone past the three hour limit in the square - we were in there for four hours in the end! And it really wasn't busy in the restaurant at all.

What arrived wasn't worth waiting for. I ordered the skate wing with new potatoes, what arrived was HALF a skate wing and ONE new potato that had been sliced up (no I am not exaggerating!) and a few lentils. That was it. I would have taken a photo but I was so ravenous by the time I got it I didn't think about it. I checked the menu for additional sides, there were no spring greens, broccoli or anything like that to bulk it out a bit. So not only was I expecting there to be more on my plate, I couldn't even have paid to have a bit more.

The salt in the wound was when we were told the plates were handmade in Spain and cost £400 each. I am honestly astounded that they consider themselves so upmarket only to scrimp on their meals to give us one potato and half a fish with no veg and spend the money on plates instead?

Also, there were a few non-drinkers / drivers at the table. I asked if there were any mocktails, I was offered a J20....

Needless to say we won't be returning, sorry.

We had the most wonderful lunch at the Old House Restaurant (Quob) at Wickham. We received a very warm welcome, the service was impeccable, very tasteful decor and it was one of the most memorable meals I have ever had. I have various food allergies and the chef was able to accommodate my needs, even though it wasn't easy.

Booked late and got an attic room. Small en-suite, kettle cable didn’t reach the socket unless you put the kettle on the floor and had to ask for an extension lead, beds are wonderful, staff extremely attentive and friendly, toiletry selection excellent, wifi excellent. Think room will be cold in the winter going by the sash window rattling and the draft when you are sat on the loo.
Sadly restaurant served gluten containing sausages on 2 of 4 breakfast when GF was ordered. When I queried it they checked and removed the sausage. Second day got an unpleasant veggie sausage as the gf option. 3rd day was served a non gf sausage again. Going by my digestion I think some other items I didn’t spot may have contained gluten (beans or hash brown are the usual culprits). When ordering I rely on the chef to have read the contents 😳. I rang to check on car parking and was told there was a carpark behind a barrier - no - 3 spaces, just, at the side of the building which are quite tight. Luckily with a blue badge I had extended parking in the market square which worked mostly for us.

Wonderful stay at this lovely hotel in the centre of Wickham. The room was extremely well presented and equipped with fabulous amenities and luxuries to make our stay very enjoyable. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in. From check in at arrival through to check out on departure staff members were always available, polite and attentive. We had planned on eating out in Wickham but instead chose to dine in. Although it was a very quiet midweek evening we were looked after superbly well by Paul and other members of the team. The food was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. Breakfast was equally as good. We are already booked to stay again for various dates and have planned a special birthday couple of nights stay later in the year. We now need to check out the Vineyard! Thank you to everyone for making our stay so pleasurable.

Our original plan was to visit the Quob estate complex to purchase some product from the shop. We were unable to use the shop and were told the facility is now members only on this day. One of the team informed us that we could make purchases from the hotel situated in Wickham square.

What brilliant find!…..

As it was a hot, sunny day we decided to stop for a drink in the hotel garden area.
The selection of wines was immense and we selected a nice bottle of white.
Throughout our visit we were treated extremely well and made to feel nothing was to much trouble.
The hotel facilities were comfortable and very they have created a brilliant atmosphere.
During our visit we were looked after by Eleanor and Leah both were outstanding in their roles and a real asset to the hotel.
We will return!😁

We had a stunning 3 course meal for my 60th birthday: excellent food and service. The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. I recommend ordering the crepes suzette as it is cooked at the table - highly entertaining. The location is gorgeous, both inside and out. We will definitely be going back.
