We recently cycled from Lisbon to Faro and had the pleasure of staying here. The owner has just completed the project and the finishes are to the highest standard. We had a fabulous BBQ. The accommodation has some beautiful sea and country side views. The town is near by with some pleasant bars and great restaurants. Rodney couldn't do enough for us and was a great host. Will certainly visit again and recommend to anybody looking for a great place to stay around Porto Covo

Short stop during a weekend in May/2018
Energy recharged a top capapcity!!!

The Place...
Very well designed and implemented, congrats to the Owner!!! Well done!
There's a small lagoon, where we can experience the nature, and enjoy a canoo
The room area is really nice too, with a spectacular view of the entire property
There's a private barbecue for each room, so if you stay longer, you would like to give it a try

The surrounding area...
Lots of beautiful places to visit, especially beach (Ilha do Pessegueiro, just 5min by car), or Porto Covo 8min by car, both, driviing really slow to enjoy all the views, else, would take 2 min and 4 min

The places to eat...
Ask the Owner! We did it, and it was the best!!!

Enjoy!

We had a fantastic stay at Casas Buganvilla. The houses are very well designed and very clean.
The outside seating area and the views are fantastic. It's an easy walk to Porto covo via a sandy path.
Rodney had kept beers in the fridge for us which was great. The facilities are top class and the bathroom was very clean.
We really want to go back and stay here for a week.
I really miss this place.

We booked 6 nights at Casas Buganvilla to use it as a base for hiking along the Rota Vincenta. I hadn't noticed before booking that credit cards were not accepted. A few days after booking, I received a message from the host, Rodney, asking for a bank transfer of 300 euros (half the cost of the booking). I sent the money a few days later for a cost of $30 Canadian. I let Rodney know that the money was on its way and that it may take a few days.

Two days before we were due to arrive at Casas Buganvilla, we got a message from Booking.com that our reservation had been canceled. After finally getting in touch with Rodney, he told us he never received the deposit. He agreed to hold the reservation once we reassured him that we would show up.

We ended up spending many hours on the phone and in emails with our bank to find out what happened to the money. We paid Rodney in cash for the full cost of the room.

On our return home, our bank finally received confirmation that the money had been deposited in Rodney's account, two days after we sent it and two weeks before our arrival. Rodney said he didn't realize that it was our deposit since he received 290 instead of 300 euro, as there were fees for the transfer. He can't keep track of the deposits for a three room property!

After several messages and phone calls, Rodney finally returned our double payment. We did not receive the full amount back, we estimate that we lost about $70 Canadian in the transaction not to mention the hassle of trying to deal with this on vacation. Our bank also waived all the fees involved so that is more costs due to an error.

For the property itself, the room is fine. It is a little smaller than I expected. It can sleep four as there is a loft with two beds that you could use. I was glad for the extra space so that we could store our luggage. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to make quick meals. The wood burning fireplace was nice. It is hard to get it started properly though, we need help from Rodney to get a fire going.

The location was good. It is right on the Rota Vicenta. It is a short drive from Porto Covo where you can get groceries and there are some restaurants. A bit further is Villanova de Millefontes where there are more shops and restaurants.

We walked the 3+ miles from Porto Covo. We were the only people staying the night, and had 2 of the apartments. The rooms were spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The kitchens were well provisioned, and spices and oil (and a couple of beers) were provided. The stove top was difficult to work, but Rodney helped. We had a a fire outside and watched the stars. A great night. And a great way to start the walk. Rodney even walked us back to the trail (it wasn't difficult).

Had a perfect stay with our 2 kids (8-6years old).
The swimming pit is very nice, our kids enjoyed canoeing and swimming around in it - as did my husband.
Rodney is the perfect host and has many good tips.
The bungalows are very neat and clean and have all you need.
With bigger children, the bungalow we stayed in, will be too small, but it suited us fine.
The terrace is perfectly oriented to see the sun set and has a nice BBQ/fire pit. Perfect to enjoy a quiet, relaxing evening.
Would dream to live like this permanently.

My wife and I were hiking the Rota Vicentina and stayed here for our first night. What a lovely home/getaway this is!!!! If we ever return, we, will be staying here for more than one night. There are many other attractions that we were not able to take full advantage of. Excellent restaurant nearby in which we purchased dinner to take back to our room. Very romantic atmosphere! We traveled in June 2014 but it took us awhile to write the review.

We were staying at this nice location as part of our walk on the rota vicentina.

Arriving in the afternoon, we quickly settled in and relaxation immediately started. The house is nice with a small kitchenette offering everything you need. The fridge is well stocked and our host Rodney provided us with very good tips in regards to restaurants for Porto Covo and Vila Novo.

The stay itself was easygoing and even a small, self-catering "roof top bar" is part of the location. We slept well in comfortable beds, falling asleep with the sounds of frogs.

Breakfast is offered as well by Rodney and it is delicious (especially the freshly squeezed orange juice).

We will come back for sure.

This was a wonderful experience, I think partly to our fantastic host Rodney who made our stay from good to excellent just by his attentiveness.
We arrived ( having nearly got stuck in the sand ) feeling slightly exhausted and worn out. We were greeted by a fridge stocked with beer and essentiels to get us going. We really appreciated that!! Rodney brought us fresh bread and orange juice each morning for our breakfast and continually checked as to whether we had enough pine cones to start the barbecue and if he could help us with this or that ..
The thing that struck me the most was the lack of rules, Rodney trusted his guests to use the facilities correctly and they did....
We swam with the frogs in a gorgeous fresh water pool, we cooked each night on our barbecue, or pretended to so we could light a fire. We walked down a sandy track to the beautiful beach . Our bungalow was well equipped good beds, we had everything we needed and Rodney even supplied the washing up liquid the olive oil,the salt , all those bits and pieces which cost a fortune to buy for a short stopover...
I can't think of any negative points about Casas Buganvilia ..maybe the fact it is hard to find....or is that a positive point?
