Perfect view ! Perfect location ! This is not a room you get ! It is a piece of the ocean ! The billets on the Vicentina coastal trail is all the traffic you will see… the occasional bird watcher won’t disturb your peace and meditation… The Ocean music will make you sleep so deep that I would advise the place for sleep therapy… Migration route of several species is just above your head. Staff is friendly and you feel just like your are staying at a friend’s place… It is Countryside AND Ocean settings ! Walking, riding your bicycle or a horse, reading that 5000 pages saga you bought 5 years ago is what you can do all day here… I will be back to admire the winter storms :-) after the perfect sunny weather we had…
This was the respite from the busy city that we needed. Our host was welcoming and knowledgeable. He gave us a wonderful recommendation for dinner in Porto Covo. The ocean is spectacular and we found ourselves catching our breath over and over at the beauty of the setting. Our room was small, but every detail was attended to and we adored hearing the breakers and the surf throughout the night and breathing the sea air.
**** If you are looking for an amazing view, this is the right place: bedrooms facing the ocean. On the other side: super tiny rooms with ocean smell (therefore a lot humidity), essential services and.....you cannot throw the toilet paper into the toilet, but in a bin. Worth one night, not more, for 110 euro... breakfast was ok, delicious cake! There is curfew at 10.30 pm, after that you have to make a phone call to enter…
I'll start with the good: The location on the coast is beautiful and peaceful, and the rooms are clean and spacious. The check in process was easy and the owner was friendly and provided a recommendation for dinner close by. The bad: The bed was hard as a rock and the breakfast was very, very basic. I also strongly disagree with having pets tied up permanently with only a small amount of space to move around. The view may be lovely but overall I think the price is way too high for what you get.
We arrived on foot, having spent three weeks (mostly hiking) through Portugal staying at everything from nice hotels to modest tourismos. The owner was incredibly rude and unwelcoming. Every single place in Portugal has been so friendly, this reception came as a shock. Also, two large dogs were chained at either side of the entrance. Both lunged and barked as we walked past. We love dogs but these two were exactly as courteous as the host. The place is cramped and although the location is pretty, there is nothing else to recommend it. We had paid in advance but decide to leave anyway—that’s how hostile the owner was—and walked another 4 km, in the rain, to Porto Covo where we found a nice room for a third of the price, complete with the lovely hospitality we’d come to appreciate here.…
This place is gorgeous! We loved it, especially the friendly family and the great talks at dinner:) Location is unique, worth staying longer. We did not have any problems whatsoever. It is a nice walk to Porto Covo.
Went there to kick off our hike down the coast. Are old enough now to eschew the youth hostel scene, but like to stay away from the larger hotels. For location, it's a great choice: windswept, quiet and peaceful. Everything else is just OK. breakfast was a plate of deli sliced meats and a cheese. Toast, juice and supermarket-style yogurt cups were also provided. Accommodations were clean, but not too comfortable. Honestly, the mattresses have all the sink and bounce of 8mm marine grade plywood. Hospitality was professional. Overall impression: come for the scenery and tranquility. Bring your own bread, cheese and bottle (or two) of wine, and watch the surf crash.
We stayed with a couple of friends at this refugio on our hike on the routa st vincentina. The refugio is straight at the trail. It has a couple of convenient rooms, most with view on the sea. The son of the owner Pedro has initiated this routa and knows all ins and outs. We had a lovely cooked dinner with the host and his father and brother. Great. Prices are very fair and we got a lunch prepared to take away and they organized flexible luggage transport. An unforgettable stay with a very personal portugese high level professional hospitality.
The site is absolutely beautiful but the owners do not create a welcoming atmosphere, except for the young lady who was very nice. The price is excessive compared to other accomodations of the area. As guests we did not feel comfortable. This is not the hospitality that we were expecting.
We stayed one night at Refugio which is a 15 minutes drive from Porto Covo; beware the road is unpaved and gets rocky ad you approach the B&B. We were greeted by a very nice lady who made us some sandwiches since we were starving. Our room was in front of the ocean and we had an astonishing view. Shower and room were clean. Only thing which bothered us was the mattress; we had an uncomfortable spring mattress which did not stop squeaking. Breakfast was basic but the homemade cake was really nice. Would have been great to have a hot breakfast (eggs & toast for example). As a young couple, it was a nice experience, I guess if you are not out there for trekking, a one night experience is enough.
