The hotel rooms are basic but clean and spacious , and the location was fine for our business trip. The real discovery was their food!!! Omani and arab food with incredible taste and well presented. Every plate was an enjoyment and chicken in several diferent recipes was nearly perfect. Adding to this the selection of drinks is international .
Restaurant service was outstanding and Omani attention to customer needs is one of the best I have had.

I spent one night at the Ibri Oasis Hotel in December 2012 – and would happily have stayed for a second or even a third night. The hotel is located just outside Ibri (about 9 km from the town centre) on the road to Buraimi. Driving from Ibri, you'll find it on the right hand side of the road, just after the College of Technology and Sports Complex. I paid RO 28 for a twin bedded room (exclusive of breakfast but inclusive of all taxes).

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel, given its out-of-the-way location (this part of Oman is one of the least visited by tourists). It is well named, as the nearest alternative alcoholic watering holes are in Nizwa and Al Ain, a hundred kilometers away in opposite directions. I dined in the restaurant and was impressed with the quality and range of the dishes on offer; the chilled Sauvignon Blanc was also most welcome after a long and tiring day's driving, the last half hour of which was after night had fallen. I had a continental breakfast the following morning but could have had a fuller one had I so wished. In one wing of the hotel there is also a bar with 'dancing girls', which I didn't bother to check out; one of the waiters advised me that it was very noisy.

Although there are signs of wear and tear in the rooms and public areas, on the whole the hotel seemed to me to be in reasonably good condition – and certainly offered good value for money. My room was very spacious, with plenty of hanging space, a minibar and satellite TV (which I didn't check out). There was both air conditioning and a fan. The only thing lacking was wi-fi Internet access; there was none, even in the public areas. I had a good view of the surrounding countryside and the room was very quiet indeed, so I slept well. The bathroom was fine and was equipped with a bath (and plug!). The staff on reception and in the restaurant were efficient and pleasant.

Although Ibri is a vibrant and bustling regional capital, there are few sights as such. The (over) restored fort in the town centre is moderately interesting but rather characterless; the mud-brick ruins of old As-Suleif, on the southern outskirts of town, are rather more atmospheric, although they are currently undergoing restoration, which limits access (though I managed to get in and was shown round by the Omani supervising the workers). In the vicinity of Ibri are some remarkable Bronze Age 'beehive' tombs (at Bat and Al Ayn); these date back to the 2nd/3rd millennia BC and a few of them have been partially restored. They are not, however, particularly easy to find, as they are not signposted.

I would certainly stay at the Ibri Oasis Hotel again and recommend it to visitors to Oman who want to get off the beaten tourist track. The hotel telephone numbers have recently changed, by the way: the new ones are 25696172/25696173/25696174 and the fax number is 25696171. The hotel has no website, as far as I can judge, though it has an email address: iohotel@omantel.net.om

Stayed here last week for one night only , this hotel is basic and a little dated but clean and tidy so that's all that counts. Staff very good and helpful made check in and chew I out easy.
Internet wasn't the best kept dropping out and took long time to load.
Can't comment on breakfast as left about 6am and never started until 7am.
This hotel is ok for the odd night while traveling.

The Pros: Staff were very friendly.
The Cons: Mattress was as hard as a rock. The room overall was thread bare and worn out. The bathroom was dirty (see photo). There was no wifi. In the restaurant, cash only was accepted. At the reception desk, you could charge the room to a credit card.
Pass on this hotel.

A perfectly adequate hotel for a one night stay before we headed into the Rub Al Khali on a long camping trip. Clean bedroom, clean bathroom, ac worked, didn't try the TV. The restaurant also acts as the bar, and was busy on a mid-week night. Our group were the only non-locals. We ate and drank, everyone else was managing without the food :). Good selection of curries and beers.

Away from the city, this is a quiet hotel. Clean, spacy room.
I visited the restaurant: I was the only guest! The meal was not bad but without any athmosohere the evening was not remarkebly nice.
The very nice swimmingpool was welcome at arrival but also nice for a romantic night swim.

Visit the goat market in town! very vivid.

My last stay at the Ibri Oasis was 2 years ago. The sign in reception says it is '2-star' - so nothing had changed on checking in. Still really friendly staff and extremely clean. If you get a room on the first floor - it will probably be spacious, clean and quiet - and have 732 (not so varied) channels to flick through on the small screened TV. It's a mixed bag though: towels so rough that you won't need a loafer, shower water that comes and sometimes goes, a sink that tends not to drain away - and no sockets in the bathroom for the electric toothbrush - if you have one. Breakfast is also hit and miss, so is lunch or dinner. As per 2 years ago - the best (good) food in the restaurant (or for breakfast) tends to be Indian, the fresh vegetables (meat and fish) are frozen - and fruit means whole apple or orange - perhaps.

On the positive side, the aircon works accurately, and the cold air misses the bed. All the staff are very friendly, and, there's a licence for those that are thirsty for Fosters. And there is no other real choice in Ibri. However, on balance - it's almost a 3-star model of a 2 star hotel.

Ideal for breaking your journey when heading to and from the interior of Oman. Some way out of Ibri the hotel has a basic restaurant and a ‘bar’.

Rooms are clean and spacious with large beds and firm mattresses, in the local style. Choice of a/c and fan. Water pressure for shower adequate. Some road noise so opt for rear room if possible.

not an oasis but like most places staff superb. Rather isolated and not much doing apart from the amazing beehives an hour or so away. They waived internet charges but beware as this was only place that seemed to charge extra
