I really enjoyed my evening´s stay at this Hotel. It was a bit rustic and HOT when we were here in early September but we were received with smiles and the same gentleman took our breakfast order (which was included in the room rate). The late evening sun streams in the rooms on our side became quite hot and steamy. Room was clean and comfortable for a one night's stay. The "town" or pueblo was tiny with very few services beyond two bar/restaurants.
We arrived with a confirmed (& paid for booking) to find that they were full (we think this was travel agent issue rather than the hotels). The owner was brilliant, he just told us don't worry, gave us a beer and sorted us another room. nothing was too much trouble - recommended.
Nice room - very clean- lovely countryside. View out our window of a horse eating apples that we found very charming. Beds could be a bit more comfy but we slept well with the lovely quiet of the area. Breakfast could use some fresh pastries or other options. We had stayed in ten or so other establishments over two weeks all had more options and better breakfasts. Not a huge deal for everyone but Personally it is my favorite meal of the day.
I have stayed here on a number of occasions when visiting the area. Hotel Pugide is your normal, inexpensive hotel. Modern, clean, good-sized bedrooms, excellent breakfast. Absolutely gorgeous location next to the mountains and the sea. What this place has, above all else, is extremely friendly owners, Angel and Lola. You will find either or both of them in the cosy bar/restaurant, eager to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The bar is a great place to have anything from a light snack and a bottle of Asturian cider or cold glass of lager. There is also a decent selection of wine. Angel has an extensive collection of reds, most of which are for viewing but, unfortunately, not for sale. But he will find a nice glass or bottle of red or white for you to enjoy. Lola is a terrific cook and makes all kinds of different things, depending on the season. Many times she will give you a "tapa" for free with your drink. She may charge you a small amount if the snack is more elaborate. Angel and Lola are genuinely friendly, which sometimes is hard to find in an economy hotel. So, if you are visiting the northern coast of Asturias or Cantabria and want a place to stay for a week or just a night, stop here. It is a good base for exploring the 24 beaches that are within a 20 minute drive of the hotel, including the one at Vidiago, which is a 15 minute walk along the cliffs above the sea. There is also one of the best (and cheapest) golf courses in all of Spain at Andrin, just 10 minutes drive away. If you are a golfer like me this is a must.…
