Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed two meals here while on holiday, we sat in the bar area, as we had our dog with us. The staff were welcoming and friendly and it was a nice atmosphere to have a relaxed meal. The second time it was a cold day and there was a lovely roaring fire to keep us warm. All covid regulations and social distancing in place, so felt very safe too.
The food was fabulous. Particularly loved the Sunday roast, which is very good value with free seconds. Everything was tasty and was the best roast I've had for a long time. Yummy homemade puddings too. I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely visit if in the area again.

We went for our nephew’s birthday and the welcome was very friendly. The service throughout was excellent and the food was delicious. The sharing platter for starter was great value and the lamb dish and the venison burger were great quality. Well worth a visit.

My wife and I have stayed at this small family run hotel on a number of occasios. Dave and Ange (the owners) are warm and friendly people who always give you a great welcome. The rooms are clean and fresh with comfortable beds. The food is excellent, plentiful and well-priced. We have got to know a number of the locals who use the bar facilities and they are welcomimg too!

Staff xmas lunch. The service was excellent from arrival to departure. I had informed them I needed gluten free due to coeliac and not just on a fad diet. The food was delicious, I took my own oat cakes for the cheese board (just in case). The cheese from a local place was lovely it was from the Damn fine cheese company. Would I visit again.... definitely.

8 of us ate here on Thursday night, we had the Christmas menu, lovely choices. I think between us we tried all the starters, all lovely, we all had the traditional turkey with the trimmings, a lovely touch was the extra gravy. The others all had pudding which were all lovely and I had local cheese which was great, homemade mince pies (flaky pastry as well) completed the evening. The service was very personal which was appreciated. Food is served Thursday though Sunday and definitely worth a visit.

Four of us had a superb lunch with great service. We all had different dishes and could find no fault with any of them. I had macaroni which is probably the best I’ve had in a pub/hotel, the other half had the venison burger which he said was delicious. The fish and the curry looked great, the curry being too generous a portion. Our food was served quickly, was lovely and hot and the presentation was great. We would definitely recommend this lovely hotel for a visit and we will certainly be back.

Decided to walk to this establishment when staying at Hetland Hall, the walk took us 15 minutes and well worth the effort .Lovely clean establishment the landlord and landlady David and Angela made us very welcome.
We ate a lovely home cooked meal and although full managed a dessert too .Pool table, dart board ,juke box ,free wifi ,sky tv and the locals were friendly .
Would definitely recommend the food and drink and may look to staying there on our next visit

Visited the Carrutherstown Hotel for the umpteenth time for a short break at the end of last week. The welcome we received made us feel we are almost part of the family. Great company, excellent food, comfortable accommodation, pleasant regulars in the bar and good beer to boot! We'll be back in the not too distant future.
