I decided to have a party to celebrate my significant birthday and really wanted to keep the venue close to home. I completed a google search and the Donnington manor hotel came up and so I got in contact. From the initial contact to my actual celebration the staff were friendly, attentive and went out of their way to make my celebrations what I wanted them to be. I went along and met Rebecca (head of events) to see the space and talk through what I wanted for my party. I had a very clear budget in mind and she went above and beyond to make that budget go as far as it could. She was really concerned about what I wanted and made sure it all happened. She was very friendly and kind and made me feel at ease about organising my party and I was super confident all would go to plan. On the evening itself she was there along with a wonderful team to ensure all my guests and myself had the best night. With many people commenting (and still commenting) on what a wonderful evening it was. This was definitely in part due to the great team at the Donnington manor hotel. I did stay at the hotel after my party and I had a very comfortable and delightful sleep after dancing hard for 4 hours!!! The beds were really comfy and the rooms are spacious. I would not hesitate in recommending the venue for a function, conference, a place to stay or eat. It really is a lovely place with a warm and friendly feel throughout. If you are considering something get int ouch with Rebecca she really is brilliant and will help you out with your party plans. …
The good stuff - the hotel itself and the rooms are very clean, warm and unlike many hotels, well lit. I hate those dingy rooms that so many other places have. The restaurant food is good too, if a little unadventurous. Sadly, the gripes will probably stop us visiting again though. Firstly, there's no disabled parking at all, so it was a long, breathless slog from the far corner of the car park. I thought I'd booked a disabled accessible room but apparantly not and on check in the discussion of this was quite dismissive. Worse, our rooms were way, way down the corridor from the lift - another long slog. Although the rooms were warm, it was stiflingly hot, the thermostat was useless and the only way to cool the room was by opening a window. A final deal breaker was the fact we shared one evening with a wedding party. The bar, the foyer, etc. were completely crowded out. Many hotels are big enough to accomodate weddings and normal guests, some manage to separate the two, but it didn't work for us here.…
I booked this hotel thinking it was close to my work location (since it came to the top of the search). Once I booked it, I realized it was a hour and a half away so I immediately contacted the hotel to cancel it. They said the reservation was unchangeable and non-refundable. So even though it was a mistake and I contacted them within 3 minutes of the reservation to explain, they STILL wouldn't cancel it and charged me the full amount even though I can't stay there. That is TERRIBLE customer service and just doesn't make sense. I highly recommend you find a hotel/organization that has some compassion and business sense and DON'T stay at this facility.
Hotel is lovely very clean and tidy. The things that let it down was not enough milk in the room for tea etc, and breakfast was sparce. 1 waitress doing her best but the kitchen needs to up their game. Most things ran out in the cooked breakfast containers and guests were left waiting for everything to be replaced, only small amounts were replaced at a time, not enough for everyone. We had what we could then gave up.
Anniversary weekend away. Receptionist acknowledged this, but the nice room I requested was next door to a room fully taped off, possibly due to a police incident someone else mentioned!! Not the nice look we expected! Standard Room lovely, huge bed, great linen and towels. Needs a little tlc in the bathroom. Restaurant: fantastic funny manager, really amused me! Homemade pate was shop bought, disappointing. Chips hard. Shortbread biscuit with dessert was a packet round 'shortie' so disappointing. No house wine, bringing the price up. No port available for cheese and biscuits. Bit poor for a 4* hotel. Breakfast very good, great selection of cooked and continental. If we get a good deal again, we will return as all the staff worked very hard to make our stay enjoyable.
A really good smart hotel, very clean great service, beautiful rooms. What a shame the restaurant let that down, second rate food, very poor side salad, the cheapest grade fries, though the chicken skewers were tasty the rest of the food on the plate was disappointing, the sweet was over microwaved, which I sent back, it was replaced with a better sample. The breakfast was not great either, with no yogurt scarce fruit selection, very cheap sausages. It really is a pity as the hotel is excellent. Oh I should mention no ale or bitter on tap in the bar.
By chance we had a one night stay at this hotel and wow, how surprised were we. First off, the hotel was easy to find and the building and grounds looked tidy and impressive. We were immediately made welcome by the helpful staff and soon found our room which was spotless. The large bed was comfortable and all room facilities worked well. We had an excellent nights sleep and tasty breakfast in the morning. In fact, so impressed were we, we booked a three night stay in April.
Stayed at the Donnington Manor for the first time and will definitely return to stay at this hotel when we are in the area again. I cannot fault the room or the service given by the staff. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful and although it was a buffet breakfast the eggs were cooked fresh for you as you required them. All in all an excellent hotel x
We really enjoyed the New Year's Eve 'Casino Royale' dinner at the Donnington Manor Hotel.. The food and service was excellent and Rebecca did a great job pulling it all together, ably assisted by Sam and the rest of the events team. Well done everybody. Certainly they have high standards of service. The food was so good it dawned on us that we have a very good restaurant on our doorstep (we are in Chelsfield Village) and so we'll be back there for dinner soon. Our bedroom was very clean, nice and light and spacious. I really recommend the hotel stay in or just have dinner. Alan Johnson
My boyfriend booked a New Year's eve stay with evening meal and breakfast included as surprise. It was booked on 6th Dec. Less than 24 hours before check-in he received a call from the hotel to state they are no longer providing dinner and we must pay for the New Year's eve experience night or just have B&B. My boyfriend then had to tell me his plans as he needed to see what i thought of this development (the hotel changing our booking) and decide what to do. We were shocked at this and thought it must be a mistake but no, the Manager, Rohad confirmed this was the case but not until 9:30am the next morning - 31st Dec! We were due to start our drive to Kent 30 minutes later. Our New Year's has ruined. Being told with such notice left us with 2 options pay them the additional fee of £140 on top if our original booking (which was for dinner, bed and breakfast) or cancel. The only options the hotel offered were pay for the New Year's eve package on top or do without or then as a last minute option the Manager said we could eat in the restaurant on our own but only have starter and main but we must tell him what we want to eat now and that we cannot join otherr guests as they are part of the party package. He did not understand that spending NYE on your own in an empty restsurant was not a nice or enjoyable. We have opted for the refund and will never stay at this hotel. The worst customer service I have ever experienced and didn't even make it it through the front door.…
