This hotel is just a few minutes from Lisbon airport, but getting there is not easy by car with the numerous roundabouts, turnoffs and slip roads. The hotel is in a light industrial area, so there isn’t much nearby that is accessible on foot. There is free car parking, and this is an important plus in a large city like Lisbon. The rooms were the usual Holiday Inn standard, spacious, clean, well-furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was great, with a good choice of food options and efficient staff. Generally, a nice hotel for visiting Lisbon. We used the car to go downtown and had a relatively easy time finding reasonably priced street as well as off-street parking within easy walking distance of all the major attraction. Holiday Inn Express is a good base for visiting Lisbon if you have a car, and want free parking, and are willing to drive and park downtown.

We specifically stayed here to be close to the airport for a morning flight and for a shuttle service to the airport. The hotel was comfortable and the breakfast offered so much food and a large variety. But we were most thankful for the amazing shuttle service and kind driver. Yes, we paid a small fee (much less than a taxi), but we were picked up in a luxury van that was SPOTLESS and super comfortable. The driver was just the nicest guy (Raul) who we chatted with on the short drive to the airport easily! We were so thankful for the lovely service he provided! Thanks Holiday Inn Express and Raul for a positive experience to end our trip!

As a Holiday Inn Express, this was fairly good. Friendly reception, all done well. The room was fine, good TV with lots of channels. The bar person even opened a bottle of wine we brought in.

However, it is located on an industrial estate with no shops or restaurants nearby. The taxi from the airport was a rip-off €19. We used Google maps to find a walking route to a nearby Lidl to get some refreshments.

We were assured that there would be taxis in the car park at 4.30am the next morning. A very good fairy story that helped us sleep soundly, but not true. The receptionist called a taxi for us which turned up in around 20 minutes. (Fare, on the meter €9.20). Other guests were hanging around waiting for Ubers which didn't turn up as promised and getting more stressed by the minute.

Our conclusion was that for an early flight, it's better to stay in the city and get a taxi to the airport in the morning or to stay at one of the two hotels located on the airport site within easy walking distance. An airport shuttle service would make this a much more viable option, but I don't recommend staying here as transport links are unreliable.

There is a walking route to the airport (33 minutes).

Hello Flyingred, Thanks for choosing Holiday Inn Express Lisbon Airport and leaving your honest feedback. We offer brilliant basics and a little more where it matters most. However, issues with the lack of available transportation service was a letdown. I am sorry for the letdown. The feedback we received from you enables us to target problem areas and take the necessary actions to improve our guest services. I know that this stay may not have been the best, but I am hopeful for another opportunity to welcome you back for an improved experience. Best, Ronald R. Case Manager IHGService

We had an overnight layover between flights from Amsterdam to San Francisco. This hotel worked perfectly. The rate for two was affordable (121 Euros). Check-in was fast, friendly and efficient. The room and the bathroom were both very clean and modern. Linens and towels were good quality. The free breakfast (starting at 6:00 AM) had a lot to offer and was very fresh. A shuttle to the airport is available starting at 4:30 AM and cost 5 Euros per person. Though there is no shuttle from the airport to the hotel a taxi only cost 6 Euro. Overall a very good experience for our needs.

My wife and I stayed 1 night, arriving from LIS Airport by taxi(14 euros) at 5 PM. The pleasant and efficient English-speaking receptionist took our passports, requested our negative Covid test forms, confirmed our reservation and provided key cards. We took one of the two elevators up to the 4th floor. Room #408 was carpeted with 2 comfortable twins across a small TV (BBC, CNN, SKY, AMC/AXN/Fox movies, MTV, TLC, Nat Geo, all in English), practical desk unit and a large opening window overlooking the entry. The nice bathroom had a bidet and tub shower with shampoo and big fluffy towels.
For dinner, I used the hot pot with coffee/tea and went down for hot milk, selected some free snacks and bought a sandwich from one of the 2 large machines using my credit card. The room’s open WIFI was strong and our room was comfortable with central heat/air.
The 7 AM breakfast buffet was excellent with fruit, juices, cereals, yogurts, cold meats/cheese, hard boiled eggs, breads, croissants, cakes and coffees.
This 120 room hotel is very clean & quiet and located 10-15 minutes from the LIS Airport (only 3 km but some long traffic lights).
We took Uber back to the airport for 6 euros.

I arrived in Lisbon on Sunday 6 June on an overnight flight. I did not have a hotel booking for the first night (following nine nights in Cascais reviewed elsewhere.) I walked to the hotel nearest to the airport to discover they were full. Perhaps a terrific stroke of luck? The receptionist there recommended the nearby Holiday Inn Express and rang to check if there was availability. A charming receptionist Tania confirmed that I could check in immediately. This was key as I was desperate to have a shower and a sleep! I agree with Mark's review that the hotel is very Covid savvy and since it was not busy it was not a remotely threatening environment and at a cost of 74 euros was not expensive I was able to grab some breakfast before retiring to my bed. In the afternoon I needed some advice about where to go/what to do and Tania and her colleague Raphael were so helpful. Lots of suggestions accompanied with locations highlighted on a map. They made a booking at a Fado restaurant for me - a totally unexpected bonus to my stay. I got an Uber downtown and spent a lovely afternoon wandering around ending up in the Praca do Comercio and from there took a late afternoon river cruise. The Fado restaurant had just seven customers which was very sad. A sign of the times. Let's hope that the world can return to some sort of normality soon so that these gorgeous relics from the past can survive.

I wanted to stay close to the airport the night before flying out of Lisbon. When I booked this, I had forgotten that the airport is right on the metro line, meaning that almost every other hotel in Lisbon is more convenient than this one. This hotel is close to the airport, but the only way to get there is by their shuttle. There isn’t much to do in the area- there are a few cafes and a small grocery store/market, but the cafes were mostly closed when we got there. The hotel itself was okay, but we discovered some potato chips (not ours) under a bed when packing up, so I am not sure how carefully they vacuum. It was pretty much a standard Holiday Inn Express. If you are just in Lisbon for a very short layover and need somewhere close to the airport to sleep, it might be good. If you are looking for a hotel at the start or end of your trip, I would recommend finding a hotel on the metro line.

I regret choosing the Holiday Inn Express Airport Hotel. It seems to be the only Lisbon airport hotel that does not have a free shuttle to the nearby airport… you have to pay for your own taxi. Also, when I checked in, I specifically asked for a room with a bathtub, but, strangely, the desk clerk who checked me in neglected to tell me a very important detail. So I got my luggage upstairs, looking forward to soaking in a nice hot bath after a hard day of schlepping luggage around uphill on cobblestone streets in the heat. Once I got all my clothes off, I realized with horror that the bathtub plug was missing, so I could not, in fact, take a bath. I called the desk to report that I had no plug, and, instead of offering to bring one up to my room, they insisted that I come back downstairs to get a plug. So I had to get dressed all over again and go downstairs, only to find out that the hotel keeps all bathtub plugs behind the desk (without telling the guests that this is so case). Wouldn’t you think the clerk who checked me in would have thought to give me a plug at that time, when I requested a bathtub? Hot and tired, and with aching muscles, the getting dressed again for a compulsory trip downstairs was the last straw. And this claims to be a 3-star hotel. I don’t think so! Do your research and a hotel that provides a free shuttle to the airport… and a #%*^ bathtub plug!!!

needs to re-think this.

This hotel is almost brand new and the rooms are nicely arranged and very comfortable. There is a tram from the airport that stops nearby although it's just a 7-8 minute walk from terminal 2. We arrived late and the restaurants in the hotel and nearby were all closed Sebastian at the front desk advised us to order food delivered He helped us get through a food delivery site only to find out that the restaurant didn't deliver to the hotel Then Sebastian have us the menu for the pizza place he orders from. He ordered for us. A few minutes later he let us know that the pizza couldn't be delivered until 1 am. At that point he did the remarkable. He offered to go into the kitchen and bake a pizza for us. We said that that would be too much trouble for him but he insisted. 20 minutes later he called us and we came down and collected a really tasty pizza. Talk about service above and beyond. IHG and Holiday Inn are lucky to have an employee like Sebastian. He truly understood what being in the hospitality industry entails.

Situated 7 minutes away from the airport in an industrial area with no restaurants around, this hotel does not offer any restaurant and the bar even closes 7:30. Although the rooms where ok, I cannot recommend the hotel at all as it does not provide airport shuttle. We had asked the reception the night before our return flight if a taxi could be book. They replied that it is not necessary as Taxis would always be available. On Monday morning at 04:00 we went down to the reception to call a Taxi. Not only that almost no taxi company replied to the call, the Taxi we had finally booked did not show up. The receptionist advised us to download the Uber App and try with them. You can imagine, 2 hours before your scheduled flight you get stressed. Lucky other guest had already booked a Uber which they shared with us. Never again, we will stay in this hotel.
