I came from Belgium to Fanano with a friend for the Cima Tauffi trail in July. We spent 3 nights in Hotel Gabriella. Our stay was fantastic ! Our studio room was very comfortable, well equipped and perfectly clean. And the view was AMAZING ! We had dinner at the restaurant each evening. It was delicious. Breakfast was gorgeous. And to finish with... The staff was adorable. They even made a breakfast basket for the trail day because we had to wake up and eat very early. PERFECT STAY :-)

We arrived on foot (trekking int he mountains) and we were very tired. Already while sitting outside and unwinding a bit, they way they paid attention to us was warming and welcoming.
We got a room with a large balcony, just what we needed (we also had our dog with us).

For primo we got the small loafes of bread (the name escapes me). We explained that we had had the same in Civago (also on the Emilie-Romagna side) and that started a long discussion on regional food. If you think Italy is all about Pantheon, Spaghetti Bolognese and gondoles, go to the mountains!

As you expect in the montains, the food was "robust" in that the tastes are not subtle and fragant, but "rustic" and strong. Local dishes are served with pride. If you ask for more than that, in Emilie-Romagna, you don't know what you are doing.

In other words: The restaurant was very good.

The breakfast was more substantial than down on the plains. However, the outstanding, still-warm home-baked cake placed everything else in the shadows.

Even though our back-packs were full (a week long tracking), how could we not accept when we chaked out and were offered a jar of home-made marmelade. At home we had it on bread, with coffee, in the morning while thinking of Gabriella.

My advice: Go there!

My experience started out very good but escalated quickly into a very poor experience, the manager and staff were very rude (some less)and absolutely not helpful when we had asked them several times for one thing. The rooms and restaurant were all right and pretty clean but i would not come back.
