Everything was ok for backpacker considering the price, except the only 1 bathroom, very clean etc.but only 1. You have to wait a little or to plan your shower. Breakfast included, good wifi. Host outgoing but polite & ok. Have to pay cash.
That was my first visit to Quebec city. I felt immediatly like home. Owner was a very nice guy making you comfortable. Location was excellent to visit city center. Room was confortable. My wish is to come back one day to discover la route de la nouvelle France !
I have spent four nights in this hostel and I cannot say one word against it. Firstly, this hostel isn't open 24/7 so if you're coming after 9pm, I strongly recommend to send an email so they can organize your key so you can enter. Also, this is cash only hostel so make sure that you have cash to pay your stay. Secondly, the room I stayed in was spacious and it has a bathroom inside. Room was clean and it offers basic amenities. Breakfast runs from 8 to 10am and it comes with the rate. Also pretty basic. Thirdly, the owner was amazing. I'm very grateful that she organized a taxi ride to the airport for me as I was leaving very early in the morning. The hostel is located 20 minutes walking from the Old town and it's not pricey at all. If you're looking for cheap and accommodating stay, I strongly recommend this place.…
I spent 3 nights there and it becomes very obvious that the owner tries to make the best out of this place! The bathrooms are super clean and well equipped and if you have a question, he is welcome to answer them. Breakfast is included and contains delicious pancakes with maple syrup, bagles, toast, pb, jam and butter. However there were a few (minor) issues about this place: - The community area / breakfast room is waaaaay to small for the number of beds there are. I was there in April, so it definitely wasn't high season, but even then you had to wait in line for breakfast, finish it as quickly as possible and then wash your plates and leave, because the others behind you also want to have something.. Not a very relaxed start into the morning. - Lots of the bedsheets had stains on them. They seemed freshly washed however considering the way they smelled, but I think it's time to renew some of the stained ones. - As the community area is so small, barely anyone ever hangs around there, which made it very hard for me to get to know other people, as I was traveling alone and all the roommates in my dorm were just stayed one night only. - The location is pretty good I'd say, but the street it's in seems a little dodgy.. everything's pretty dirty in there.. - not a real problem, just good to know: you have to pay cash, they don't accept credit cards (not sure about debit) Considering the cleanliness and the in general comfy beds, I still want to give this hostel a 3/5 star rating.…
I went there for a month and I was very happy of my stay. The owner is really kind and makes you feel at home. The dorms are clean and spacious, the kitchen is great to cook and I liked the cat called Zebulon. I recommend this place!
It was ok, but I wouldn't repeat if I would find another place for the same price. It doesn't have the feeling of a hostel. Not for travelers who want to meet people. It's in a nice area, 20' walking from old Quebec. Clean room but with old blankets, sheets, the kitchen and the stairs not so clean The woman who is there is lovely. The man who cleans and cooks the pancakes for you is a weird man.
We stayed there for 2 nights. The room and bathroom were clean. The kitchen/common area is not as the pictures, too small space to stay in a rainy day. Fridge and food of guest is a chaos! It needs organisation, in other hostels you have labels o baskets for your own food. Breakfast ok!
My family and I spent 3 nights there. It is a 15 minute walk to the main railway station and around the corner from bars, restaurants and shops. Breakfast consisting of toast, pancakes and spreads included. The dining / kitchen / tv room is small. Most hostels have larger common areas. It can be a bit noisy. The manager is flexible, warm and friendly. I found the room clean. Towel hire is $1. I will stay again if in the area.
This was not the worst hostel I've stayed in but it was just a little bit strange. To begin with it was not overly clean- in terms of the kitchen/stairs/walls. Although the bathroom was very clean. We were in a room which overlooked the back walkway and it was very weird having the men that work and the hostel just chilling outside the window having a smoke whilst you were getting changed/in bed. The breakfast was pancakes, which is a good idea but the owner makes you them himself and you only get one! Which doesn't really fill you up! We wanted to leave our bags on the last day and the owner charged us, which we would not have minded but the bags were literally just left on the floor in the reception- no baggage room or anything so we found it odd that we were charged! It was not a bad hostel, we just did not feel overly comfortable here.…
I would recommend staying at the Auberge Maeva, the hostel is like a big house and has a friendly atmosphere. I love that the hostel has a lounge area where you can watch tv or Netflix and mix with other travellers. The rooms are super clean, and our room was quite big, we also had an en suite which also was really clean. I really love that every morning breakfast is made for you, I think this adds a lovely touch, most other hostels either don't offer breakfast, or if they do, then you make it yourself and as I can't cook very well, usually means all I eat is toast and sometimes that's a bit hit and miss! The pancakes here are super yummy!!! My only niggle about this hostel was that it was a bit chilly at times, but an extra blanket sorted that problem out! I had a very enjoyable stay here and would definitely go back!…
