Our family had an amazing stay at Hotel du Vieux-Quebec! I rarely write reviews of any experiences, but this hotel needs a solid shout-out for their kindness, hospitality, amenities, practicality, and for us longing to return! At the start of our trip, we were disappointingly caught-up with the 2022 summer airline crisis (flights cancelled and suitcase lost for our entire trip) which delayed our arrival to Quebec City + this hotel by an entire day. The staff kindly cancelled our first night fees with no penalty! They were so accommodating and kind the rest of our stay, and they will pop you fresh, complimentary popcorn anytime at your request - way cool! We stayed in a cozy, chic, comfortable double-queen bed room, which totally had true queen-sized beds (not crappy little double beds most hotels call "queen beds!") Lots of accent and ceiling lights, and every lightbulb worked!!! Plenty of hooks, hangers, shelving in the bathroom, and storage space - very practical for young families. With 2 armchairs, a swivel desk chair, a small dining table and a large glass desk, plenty of space to eat in the room. The complimentary breakfast picnic baskets with fresh croissants (the BEST, even better than Paillard!), fresh pastries, cheese, fruit, and orange juice was such a treat every morning. You can't beat the location if you're hoping to tour and visit Old Quebec/downtown - lots of great shopping, sightseeing and restaurants within a 10min walk: Chateau Frontenac, Quatre du Petit Champlain, Casse-Cou stairs, Funicular, Plains of Abraham/Citadel, etc. Bring some comfy running/hiking shoes (and a stroller if you have young kids) and be ready for some great sights and exercise. We loved not needing to rent a car and dealing with traffic and parking hassles. We arrived by bus and left by Via Rail - Gare du Palais (the city's main bus/train station) is a safe, scenic 10-15min walk from the hotel. The hotel's lounge is serene, comfy, clean, quiet, and chic - espresso machine, fresh lemon + iced water dispensers, plenty of books, board games, and puzzles for those seeking solitude and quiet. Our little family loved this hotel for so many reasons - it's a true gem and is worth every penny. We hope to return soon!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Hôtel du Vieux-Québec. Having stayed at Sonder and Boxotel in Montreal, I find our stay at Hôtel du Vieux-Québec the best lodging experience. The location, service and cleanliness were 3 things that came to mind when I recall my stay at HVQ. The picnic style breakfast was also a great touch as there were so many beautiful scenic places to enjoy great tasting pastries. Lastly, their service was warm, friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend HVQ to my friends and family. Thank you for helping to make my first visit to Quebec City a pleasant and memorable one.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel du Vieux, and would highly recommend it. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is nicely appointed and was a welcomed relief to come back to after a long day of activities. The lounge area is really nice. We also had a terrific meal at the restaurant. Our room was wonderful, the bathroom was super clean and well appointed, the bed super comfortable - the hotel is truly a pleasure.

Our family had a wonderful time at your charming hotel. Everyone on the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. Our flights were delayed and we arrived shortly after 9 pm. The gentleman at the desk asked the Bistro Hortus kitchen to remain open a bit longer to accommodate us. All was done with a smile. Upon our departure (at4:30am), they packed us pastries to go which we enjoyed at the airport. We hope to stay with you again sometime — perhaps during the winter! Thank you for making our time in Quebec City magical.

We were able to do online check-in prior to arrival and it made the actual check-in go quickly. Hôtel du Vieux-Québec has the perfect location in the upper town as it is within easy walking distance to everything in upper or lower town in Old Quebec City. We had a continental breakfast hung on our room door every morning which made getting ready each day easier as there is a lot to see and do. The room was comfortable and it was nice being able to come back whenever we needed a break. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to spend most of their time in Old Quebec.

The location is very convenient surrounded by restaurants. Everything is walkable distance. The room is very small but nicely designed. Super friendly and helpful staff. Love their customer services a lot. I enjoyed my stay there. The only complaint is the pillow lol. It caused neck pain but I know it's a personal thing. Cammy is great!

I’ve been meaning to write a review for this lovely hotel in the heart up upper town. My husband and I visited in Oct 2021 and our expectations of this hotel were surpassed. We had several different front desk staff and all were friendly and helpful. It has a great central location. A short walk to lower town and lots of restaurant options. We also greatly appreciated having parking close by. Our room (I believe it was 310) had windows in two directions and a gorgeous dormer. The free coffee and movies were icing on the gateau. We are planning on returning next month for our 25th anniversary. This is the only hotel for us in Quebec City.

Hotel du Vieux Quebec is a gem for travelers. The front desk's knowledge of Quebec and travelers' needs was superior. "I am not sure about that but I'll check and report back to you." "Here, let me go out and show you." The hotel rooms have recently been re-designed and decorated. The attention to the efficient use of space and design has created hotel rooms which will meet the travelers' needs. This is the way the modern traveler wants to visit a new place.

We could not have chosen a better hotel in Quebec City. Frederic was awesome when we checked in and provided all the information we needed. This hotel is steps away to the best restaurants in town! Our room was spotless and bed super comfy. We will definitely be back! Thank you, again, to all staff for such a pleasant stay.

The staff at Hotel du Vieux-Quebec were beyond amazing! Their recommendations were spot on and they helped us book restaurants and activities and even taxis while we were out an about (and couldn't communicate directly with the cab company due to language barriers). The accommodations were extremely clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. Will certainly stay here on our next trip to Old Quebec City!
