Exactly what you expect. Easy to check in. Can be challenging if you don’t speak French but staff do try. Ask for renovated room as these are comfortable. Beware All Quebec City changes random extra taxes which they don’t negotiate which isn’t fair.
The Residences Université Laval it's okay if you go for studying, the behaviour toward tourists is good, because they have like lots of attentions like giving food and the beds are good. The cleanging is excellent, since I have arrived I haven't seen any insect or animal, etc.
Small room. Clean towels. Very hot inside, even with the windows open. Glad to discover a store close by to buy a coffee . Metro supermarket at 10 minutes. The 800 bus stops exactly in front of the campus.
As good as an appartment, the room is large, modern, comfortable in a quiet sector on the University Campus. There is a fully equiped open kitchen. However the ventilation a bit too noisy. Easy access by bus or bike to the city center.
AA should be ashamed for booking dorm rooms at La Val. Checked in at 10PM and then had to walk 1/2 mile to dorm room. Room was TERRIBLE. NO AIR, NO BATHROOM, NO SHOWER, NO HANGERS. THKS FOR THE CONDOMS, really what a couple of 70 yr olds needed.. I believe the smell was either paint or exterminator fumes. Stay at the airport if AA offers you these dorm rooms.
We stayed in a superior room with a bathroom and air conditioning. Our stay was in July so relatively quiet. I appreciated cooking my breakfast every day in the kitchen. Not a five star hotel but good facilities for a good price. We brought an air cleaning fan because of my allergies and it was a good idea because there were carpets that were not new and had a slight lived in smell. The room even had a kettle, coffee machine, fridge and microwave! The young people at the desk were very nice and helpful. The pub restaurant is excellent too! Would stay there again.
The rooms are represented well in the photos on the website and the girl who checked me in was lovely, but I encountered a number of problems staying here. First of all, in spite of the 24/7 summertime reception hours, the reception desk does not open until 4pm in the afternoon. My room was also unbearably humid, and no fans were available. Also, in spite of repeated calls to the service desk, I had no lighting in my room at all for 2 days due to a blown lightbulb, which would have taken just minutes to fix.
If all you are looking for is a bed and a place to keep your belongings, this is the place for you! We stayed 3 nights in a "double occupancy" room but I believe it was a single occupancy dorm room which they added a single bed to. Our room had 2 twin beds (quite thin with one pillow each), a desk, dresser, shelving storage, a closet and a sink. They provided 5 coat hangers, 2 sets of face, hand and body towels, 2 glasses, a small fan and 2 extra blankets. We brought with us 2 small fans from home and were extremely thankful we did because there was no air conditioning. The bathrooms and showers were communal and there was a common area that was airy and spacious as well as vending and an ice machine. Overall, our experience was good! The rooms and bathrooms were clean, the location was easy to get to and is a 15 min drive away from Old Quebec. AND! They offer free parking, so it was easy to get an Uber or take the bus anywhere we needed to and we felt totally safe there. There was also a Boston Pizza, Tim Horton's and a Subway all really close to the residence so it was easy to get food everyday. Would recommend this to someone trying to save a little so you can enjoy what Quebec City has to offer!…
Stayed here for more than a month, overall it's not bad. Common areas are clean and tidy, plenty of space to work on your laptop or chill with friends. You get your own sink in the room. Coffee vending machines in the lobby and kitchen. Grocery stores, Provigo & Metro under a 10 minute walk. Only complaint was the bed which was too hard. If you do plan to cook, you need your own cookware. Otherwise, use the cafeterias at Alphonse building. Pro tip: music room with pianos available for reservation if you're looking to kill some time.
The residences are the poorest dorms iv seen. Its like a big communist era building from the 70's. The room itself feels like a prison cell. The line to check in was 1 hour long as it was fall and students were also checking in with outside guests. Exorbitant price for the room.
