They say that this is the original Ritz-Carlton (it isn't that I don't believe them, just that I wasn't there, so I can't say for certain). It's nice - on the outside, they have that old-school, fancified feel, and for the most part are treated...More
This particular Ritz Carlton is perhaps the best we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The room was very spacious, and immaculately clean.

This was a birthday celebration and it started upon arrival with a room upgrade. The Ritz contacted me in advance and had a birthday cake in the room when we got there. I can't say enough postive things about the hotel and staff.
We booked part of our stay through AMEX Fine Hotels and Resorts program, and this hotel should be the poster boy. From the time we arrived until we departed, the entire stay was wonderful - accommodations, ambience, and (especially) the staff.
Needless to say, the...More

Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young
professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
