I have stayed and continue to stay at various Mariott locations across North America. This particular Barrie location is very overpriced for the product and service that they provide. Filthy. Staff at the front desk were irresponsible and unprofessional. Bed sheets were not fully washed properly. They definitely had not been inspected with Mariott standards. Comforters smelled of hockey equipment. The floors at the edges of the beds were not vacuumed. Garbage from candy wrappers behind the lamp. I complained about the dirt in the bathroom, crumbs on the counter near the lamp, filthy carpets in room and hallways etc. I had also complained in February & March 2022 of the same issues. Hotel offered to switch rooms for us at 9:30pm. Switch to another dirty room???? There were too many pictures of the room and hotel for my device to load for this review. I’m not sure why they don’t wash their curtains. Brown stains that clearly had been there for some time. The hotel is continuously understaffed. Since I am a Mariott member, I had given this location many chances to fix their problems, but they chose not to. Their standards are very low. One of the staff members at the front desk accused me of trying to get a 20% discount off of my room, since they had given that to me months prior. I told him that it was not my intention to get a discount. I told them to keep their discount to rent a carpet washer! Coffee, drink and food stains were still on the carpets a year later. The same stains that I had viewed 6 months prior and a year prior! I repeatedly attempted to speak with a Senior Manager at the Hotel, but never received a call back. I left 4 messages. I also contacted the Mariott Head office, however, head office simply forwarded the issue to the Barrie location where my concerns were dismissed. I have given this location over a year to resolve their issues. Not only have they not contacted me, they accuse me of manipulation for a discount! That is why, after I year, I finally am writing this review.

Room was very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and the free breakfast was awesome. The decor is a little dated, but they have done a good job keeping it clean and inviting. This was an overnight stop on a long road trip. No regrets

1107 nights and 26 years of Elite Status - Lifetime Titanium Elite and this property has won an award I've never given out over 2 decades. I was on an overnight flight and arrive at 8:30am to the hotel. They said they had lots of available rooms but I could not have mine until 1pm. But if I wanted to pay a fee I could have the room early. Travelling around 100 nights a year I can honestly say this is the first property that has ever said I need to pay to check in early. It's the policy they said. Great - and my policy is that I need a hotel that understands corporate clients. We don't all check in at 3pm and leave at 11. Sometimes you check in at 9am and leave at 6am the following day. Would totally understand if they didn't have rooms - but a quick money grab. No thanks - we can take our business elsewhere. BTW - this property also won the award for taking the longest to answer the chat in the Marriott Bonvoy app... an hour and 10 minutes. I think the average at most properties is about 3 minutes. No upgrade either. If you're a frequent traveller and loyal to Marriott - pick another property.

The hotel was kind of hidden away but nice and quiet. Felt safe in the area. Quick access to the 400. Quick access to a lot of different places. Clean well stocked and a friendly reception. There's a little Italian restaurant that's next door that is really good too

Post COVID-19 travel has been an experience. The world is a different place for the traveler and inn keeper. This establishment never lost sight of the golden rule: Service above all else. Once you enter the facility and approach the front desk, you know that you are in a place of service excellence. After checking in, I requested additional towels. I walked outside to the car and back to my room and the team member was waiting at my door with my towels. WOW !!! I had a few questions and approached the front desk. The team member jumped on the phone and called several outlets to assist me. Meanwhile, another member of the hospitality team, hearing my request, came over to offer assistance. Double WOW!!!! If I am anywhere near this area in the future, for any reason, I am staying here!! I recommend this establishment and team.

Recently stayed for two nights and was one of the worst experiences. Not what you would expect for a Marriot. Each floor had a room that was blocked off because the door was broken in, there were police at the hotel every morning and one night, used needles were found under the stairs in side stairwell, pool and weight room were out of commission, and night visitors came and left through the evening, This is not a hotel you would want to bring kids or family to.

I travel a lot for work and stay at many different hotels. I am a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member. I was travelling with my spouse and our children. Our hotel room was disgusting. The bathroom in our room had long hair stuck to the floor tiles (see pictures attached) and there were pubic hairs on the toilet. The back of the entry door to our room had oil running down the door from the automatic door closer. The peep hole cover had been nocked off and was stuck further down the door (see picture attached). The in room coffee machine and supplies had spilled coffee on them from a prior guest. The carpet was not properly vacuumed. We arrived late at night and I disinfected the room myself with alcohol since chances are that another room would be no cleaner. I reported this to the front desk immediately and they relayed the message to hotel management. The common areas such as the elevator are not clean and you can tell there are grease and smudge marks. We did not use the pool as some of the guests we witnessed did not shower (as required) before entering. The hotel advertises a buffet breakfast but all you get is bagged cheese and egg sandwiches (with condensation) with a yogurt and a very green banana. Breakfast is served only until 9:00am. As a side note there were some interesting characters hanging around outside. The hotel management did not respond to my complaint nor did they offer to do anything. I sent an email to Marriott but did not get a reply in 2 days. I then called Marriott Corporate and was assured that the "management team" would come up with a satisfactory resolution. Two days later I was called by the Local manager who offered me 10,000 points for a future stay. Are you kidding me? I will not stay at this property ever again. Marriott may loose me as a customer over this.

I came down for a business trip for a work function. The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable to sleep in. Staff was friendly and easy to deal with. My shower was a little quirky as it was ether cold or really hot. I used the pool which was a nice temperature. The mens public restroom has a minor issue with the sink as it didnt function when I went to wash my hands.

We did a stopover in Barrie and being Bonvoy members, we automatically chose this hotel. Important lesson learned - not all hotels in the brand are the same. We checked in after 4pm or tried to. Another traveller had been waiting for 10 minutes for a clerk to appear. We took turns ringing the bell that is there as the phone rang continuously. Eventually the clerk appeared and we checked into a cramped room. The grab and go breakfast was a pleasant surprise and quite good. The pillows were flat - other Fairfield Inns usually have a firmer option. So we had terrible sleeps and a day of driving ahead of us. Unless you want pizza, you will have to get in your car again to get dinner. Next time we pass through Barrie, we will take advantage of the many other options available.
