Good morning I’m writing to you while waiting to check out of this Super 8 hotel in Barrie Ontario Canada. I have yet to sleep. I came up to Barrie to look at real estate as I am relocating here. I decided I wanted to stay over as I really needed a break from my home in downtown Toronto. My best friend suggested I call rather than book online. I haven’t booked a room this way probably in at least 20 years but I’m glad I did. Especially because the lovely gentleman who assisted me was very helpful and looked for the best price in the area. I definitely was not expecting a 5 star hotel and I don’t even think I could give this Super 8 2 stars. But as we say, you get what you pay for. It was $69 plus all the service charges, taxes so I believe it’s was approximately $112.00. Although this amount of money may be small to some, for me it’s a few days worth of groceries. I do want to say that every person I spoke to both on the phone and at the front desk were very kind. That is the only compliment you will receive from me. I checked in just before 4:00 p.m. and from the moment I entered my room (308) my experience was horrific. There was a group on the floor and beside me was a family with small children. The 2 young boys used the hallway as a runway for chasing each other. They used the door as a toy, opening and closing over and over. The parents (I assume) inside were not speaking they yelled and yelled and yelled. I believe they were drinking heavily while their children continued to use the hallway as a playground. I immediately went to the front desk and explained the situation. The clerk was actually watching them in the hallway. I’m not certain what time the first phone call to their room started but there were multiple calls and visits to the floor. The adults got louder and louder through the evening. I could hear clearly everything they were saying through my entire room. It didn’t matter where I was. I believe I called front desk 3 times? Not to mention the many visits down to the front desk. As I was absolutely exhausted, I really didn’t want to move and by 10:30 p.m. there were no rooms available to move to. This behaviour continued until approximately 12:30 a.m. Perhaps the kids finally went to sleep but the adults continued partying until I’m assuming they passed out. Yet their television stayed on (high volume) until 4:30 a.m. At one point before 12:30 a.m. a male left the room (I was watching through the peep hole) , he looked at my door and yelled “Do Not Disturb “ and someone standing close to the door knocked on my door. This behaviour is childish, disrespectful and as a single woman absolutely frightening. I didn’t know what would happen if I left the room, as I did multiple times. I actually put dog spray in my pocket just in case something happened. I wasn’t the only guest to complain so I knew I’m not overreacting. This was the most despicable hotel experience I’ve ever had. I’ve travelled all over the world and never dealt with a situation like this. Unacceptable! I also want to comment on the state of both my room and the lobby, cafeteria area. Again, everyone who helped me was wonderful! My room is covered in stains, cracks in walls and on floors. It is filthy. I’m glad I at least brought my own pillows. The bed is like sleeping on a piece of wood. The blow dryer doesn’t work. There isn’t one glass cup so I had to go to Dollarama and buy one as I really didn’t want to have a glass of wine in a paper cup. When I arrived in the room it was sweltering as the drapes are left open and the sun is blaring in. It took over 2 hours to cool the room down. I’m still running the fan on high as the building is sweltering. The cafeteria area is filthy, dirt on tables and chairs. Walls are dirty throughout the hotel. The caulking in the shower is filthy. All it needs is Clorox sprayed on overnight and it will look brand new. It’s seems only surface/necessary cleaning is being done. I have not touched a soft surface in the hotel other than the bed. The hand sanitizer in the front lobby is empty. I could go on, I can also send tons of pictures. But I’m not even sure I will get a response. This hotel needs to be shut down, have a heavy duty cleaning and repairs or completely renovated. It’s shameful!

Stayed here because half the price of some nearby competitors. Like everything in life, you get what you pay for. While room was large, it was dingy. (Dim lighting, drab colors--a bit picky I know, but alot of how you feel is subjective--we've all stayed in rooms that are "cheerful") Disappointing breakfast, literally couldn't stomach the food. Sleep was decent -nice mattress, avg pillows. Room was quiet and heat worked well. Had to use clothes hangers to keep curtains closed--noticed others had already duct taped curtains to frame. Note to mgmt: you need bigger curtains, the ones are too small to keep the light out.

Not the best place I've ever stayed but it was clean and the staff were amazing. The rooms haven't been updated in a long time and it shows but they were spotless and comfortable. The internet was spotty so if you have teenagers be aware of that. lol

Employee during check in was rude and not helpful at all. Guest room was extremely dirty, from crumbs on comforter to stains all over walls, dirty sink, dirty bathtub, dirt on carpet. Very uncomfortable beds, will never return.

This hotel has been neglected, and I have to wonder if hotel owners ever steps into the rooms. From the outdated decor, old worn furniture, shower tiles in disrepair, old shower head, marks all over the walls. Even just a small attempt at painting the rooms would help. Also, it wasn't properly cleaned (hair in tub). I would never stay here again.

The eggs were like powdered eggs. So gross. The staff was really nice a d everyone was helpful. The pool should be re opened. And the gym should get atleast weights up to 40lbs and a bench in order to call it a gym. It was very very outdated

Great check-in/checkout, friendly staff, but very smokey room (111) and it is in great need of a renovation. Good location and lots of amenities nearby. It was a reasonable price but I can't recommend it, at least not room 111.

This hotel is 'decent' if you just need to stay one night, maximum two. The room itself was clean, but very run down looking i.e. holes or dings in the wall, holes in the curtains, pulls and rough areas on the carpet. The mattresses are quite firm. However, the redeeming quality of my stay was the friendly staff and good breakfast!

A hotel is overpriced for its condition. Updates in wc are recommended. We got a room with a broken sink, water pipes were leaking. Wash teeth over the bath were very uncomfortable. The breakfast area also seemed somehow awkward and uncomfortable, a very tiny place, with not enough equipment and seats for quests.
