Accredited Quarantine Hotel by Canadian Government but doesn’t really care about Health and Safety! The shuttle bus pick us up in the airport and load our luggage with lots of DIRTY LAUNDRY sheets at the back of the bus. The hotel did not even disinfect our bags. -No available hand sanitizer or alcohol in the room -Drinking water is by request Not my preferred hotel but only few hotels in Vancouver are accredited and most of them are fully booked.

The furniture is a bit dusty, tv remote as well. Not airconditoned, no bathrobes, no slippers, toothbrush. Not sufficient supply for 3 persons soap, shampoo & sjower gels. As a guest its annoying to keep asking for the things that is not complete, supposed to be its the hotels duty. It will be better if every day theu ask if we need anything. As we use the hotel for our 3 nights quarantine to follow the rules of the Canadian government.

Bathroom was recently renovated and well done. The rest of the unit is well overdue for a renovation. Desk chair was unsafe to use. The luggage rack does not fit into the closet and therefore not usable.

Absolutely horrendous stay at The Coast Vancouver airport hotel. I was herded through YVR like cattle and into shuffle bus destine for the Coast. On arrival at reception the first word I was greeted with was “passport” not one other pleasantry . Like how was your flight ? Or where are you travelling from today? Or even a simple hello and welcome to the coast. No the rude receptionist just said “passport” . I had several items in my hand and a load luggage with no where to put down the items. After they checked me in with the rip off rate of 350 dollars per night . They made me sign two sheets of what food and drink I like for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The options for food were limited and unhealthy, the drinks options were juice, water , coke or sprite. Luckily I had bought a bottle wine in duty free. I had also been travelling 20 hours and my main luggage bag was lost in transit and my other damaged . But there was no point telling the staff here that as they had zero cares for their Prisoners. The room was dark and dingy and there was no bottled water I was so thirsty . I rang reception for the water and a cork screw opener that was left at the door by the road runner . Later dinner came again dropped by the invisible man. Cold fries and cold squashed burger from white spot dropped in a brown bag (take away food) with two bottles of water on top the food. The cold bottles of water had made the food cold aswell as squashing the burger. I was too hungry and too jet lag to complain and just wanted to eat and sleep. But what really took the biscuit was when I woke during night finding it hard to breath. No people it wasn’t Covid-19. But I soon realised when I went to close the darken curtains that the net curtains (shears) hanging in the window were covered in black spots. Black mould (Aspergillus brasiliensis formerly know as niger) was riddled all over the net curtains. And who uses net curtains these days anyway. Absolutely vile, the mould was generating spores and these spores were floating around the room blow around by the AC and then being filtered by my lungs as I slept . So basically the Canadian government list these hotels as having all these protocols to keep you safe and others from covid 19 but it’s ok to allow you to stay in a cesspit of a hotel that’s dirty and covered in mould. Imagine you did have Covid 19 or Asthama these spores can cause serious lung issues. I didn’t feel right at all the next morning locked inside a 5x8 foot room with fungus floating in the air. As I showered I needed to clear my nose I felt so bunged up. A huge lump of black mucus cane out of my nostril . My nose had been filtering these spores all night that then had ngathered and formed in my canal. Thank god that i am a nose breather. I was feeling quite heavy chested and my breathing shallow. Within the next hour I had received a email stating that my test for Covid 19 was NEGATIVE and immediately my instinct was to get out this infested room. I called my wife to come collect me to continue my Quarantine at my final destination. She was diagnosed with cancer and hence why I was flying into Canada to take care of her. Staying at the Coast hotel was the most degrading experience. I have not got Covid 19, i am a young fit adult male but I may now have some chronic lung damage from breathing in the Coast hotel black mould infestation. I made a complaint on the phone to the receptionist and again at the desk as I left but they seem to not care 1 iota and just said they pass it on to the manger. I know our hotels in Ireland would never have those horrendous standards especially during a pandemic. Even using the Elevator on the way down there was finger prints all over the panels they were filthy . Which means this hotel is not regularly cleaning and following the standards that they list on the website. I seen no sign of sanitisation or any fogging protocols. The government website has lied to us. And there is clearly no way there are checks on these hotels to ensure that the standards are being met.
