After drinking a considerable amount of the tap water - from the plastic cups that they put right next to the taps - I happened to run a sink full of water and saw that it was a yellow colour. I went to ask the front desk staff if it was safe to drink the tap water, and she said "NO. There is a water advisory" To which I replied that perhaps it would be a good idea to tell guests this? Maybe put a sign next to the taps? Maybe don't put the plastic drinking cups next to the taps? Her response? "You should have done more research about Prince Rupert before you got here" Are you kidding me? That's all you really need to know about this place. Avoid.
Book directly with the Hotel DON'T USE THE ADVERTISED BOOKING NUMBER. We did and except for the friendly front desk staff, we would not have a room. I used the booking number and the reservation was totally messed up. We booked two rooms. We were overcharged and the reservation was not as requested. And there was a booking fee. Nothing the front desk could do since it was prepaid. We ended taking an additional room. The fee was considerably less than what we had paid using the number advertised for reservation on the web site. The rooms were OK. Staff was helpful. Good location. DON'T USE THE BOOKING NUMBER ADVERTISED ON THE WEBPAGE! Click onto the "Contact us' and that will give you a direct number. It will save you a lot of money and the staff is friendlier.
Close to BC Ferries and downtown Prince Rupert. Rooms consist of bed, small fridge that you need to plug in to use, TV with basic channels, WIFI and a bath/shower. Staff are not very excited about serving or helping you but will do the job once you get their attention. Street noise in the room is very loud. All in all, very basic accommodations at a basic rate.
Shame on the owners for not putting any money into this hotel for upkeep, especially when there is so few places to stay in Prince Rupert! This place is WAY overpriced, old, dirty, stuffy, old, basic and did I mention OLD! There is no A/C, so we tracked a lovely housekeeping lady down and managed to get a fan from her. She informed us there are only a couple per floor so it was lucky we were one of the first to ask. Check in was unfriendly and unhelpful, the elevators stunk like fish, parking is minimal, beds are extremely uncomfortable, fridge doesn't really work and there is no way to open windows more than a couple inches for fresh air Honestly, if you are there and looking for a place to stay, avoid this one! We were catching the ferry at 5:30 the next morning and it would have been better off the stay in our vehicle in the ferry parking lot (which you are allowed to do for a small charge)…
We arrived in the evening to a hot stuff room on the third floor. Everything in room unplugged. Clock and even refrigerator was hot inside. And despite what ad says they have no air conditioning!!!! They gave us a fan and we opened the only window which was 8x10 inches. The water was brown and they had no ice machine. When we ask about the full cooked to order breakfast included.... we were told we didn’t pay even for room to get free breakfast!!! I wanted a refund but the manger refused to refund our money so we could leave. Cheap hotel and all lies in the description. Don’t stay here!!! Run away!!!
Frankly booked the Moby Dick Inn because it was close to the BC Ferries post and who doesn't want to stay at a hotel called the Moby Dick inn!!....although a little concerned about the communal microwave on each floor and the signs that promised fines for bringing bait coolers in rooms...that said my room was clean and comfortable....plenty of hot water for shower ....good TV and a refrigerator....the staff was friendly and helpful...easy walk to waterfront.....five minutes to BC Ferries port....great dive bar next door
Made reservation by calling Hotel a couple of months in advance. Got a confirmation number. Asked the fellow for an email confirmation number and he said "I just gave you the confirmation number". So, I took that to be a "no". Pre-arranged a late arrival (11:45pm or so, after the arrival of the 11:30pm ferry from Port Hardy). Buzzed for the attendant upon arrival. I gave him my name. No record. I said that I could go back out to my vehicle in the rain and get my confirmation number. He agreed that I should do that. A waste of time. My confirmation number was not in their computer. I had the quoted rate as well, so he proceeded to give us a room at that rate. So, into the room we go. When the lights went on in the room, the first thing we noticed was the bathroom door threshold lifting (see photo). A definite tripping hazard there. It was a little cool in there so decided to pull the hinged window closed. That didn't work so well. The window wasn't stuck or anything, but one of the handles used to close the window immediately fell off and landed on the sloping roof outside (see photo). Wow! Later noticed the lens in the bathroom light falling out ( see photo), dirty bathroom flooring (photo) and debris left on the bathroom counter and toilet tank top (see photos). Bathroom fan didn't work. Lens falling out of bathroom light fixture (see photo). Dirt on bathroom surfaces (see photos). Basically, WHAT A DIVE!!! I wan't there as a hotel inspector but these observations were so obvious. We were leaving at 7:30 in the morning so didn't look around too much further. It might have scared us even more. And this was $125.35 a night?!? Outrageous!…
Arriving at midnight from the ferry, we had the impression of a place a bit run down. Actually, getting up in the morning, we found that all is ok. A few scratches on the furniture. A tiny little window can be opened for fresh air. The fridge is disconnected. Breakfast is correct.
Came here thinking I would save a few bucks but It was a disappointment. No ramp for your luggage right off the start, and many other little run down things like shower leak, no tissues, and no effort to improve your stay was being made. The bar was also not the kind of water hole I would feel comfortable being at. Other wise it was a clean room, I will say that but way over priced.
We did not expect a great room for the low price and we did not get one. What was disappointing was that there was a bad smell on that floor of the hotel and a huge carpet stain in the room that was not cleaned up, to their credit the manager did move us to an acceptable room, but we should not have been offered the first room in the first place.
