Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at The Tides. We had the whole top floor to ourselves with a large bedroom, computer space, dressing room and spacious bathroom. Excellent cold buffet breakfast provided by Janess who was an excellent host. The last day we had an early start so she gave us a packed breakfast to take on our journey. Plenty of good advice where to spend time or eat out. We always walked into downtown in about 20 minutes but you could get a cab if you want. We would really recommend this comfortable and well equipped b&b in Prince Rupert.
PR is a small city so no matter where you stay it's close to everything. The best thing about The Tides was that it was immaculate. Janess (the hostess) is very friendly and gave us our space. She had delicious breakfasts waiting for us daily and always there to help if needed. I would definitely stay there again when we return to PR.
A very classy B&B with a fabulous hostess. We felt like we were staying in a 6-star accommodation. Huge luxurious bedroom and roomy state-of-the-art bathroom, all immaculately clean. Janess invited us to relax on the front deck, which has an ocean view. Breakfast was delicious, and the entire house was classy and so well decorated. This might be the nicest B&B I have stayed at (and I have stayed at many). Have a look at the photos I've posted. Janess was an absolutely lovely and helpful hostess.
We stayed 2 nights with Janess in her beautiful home. She greeted us at 11:30 pm with a smile! (The ferry from Port Hardy gets in after 11.) We had a spacious room with comfortable bed and a huge bathroom with tub and shower. Clean and comfy. Breakfast was filling and plentiful: fruit, coffee, yogurt, cereals. The soda bread baked in the cast iron frying pan was to die for. I will be asking her for the recipe! Highly recommend!
My husband and I spent two nights in Prince Rupert prior to ferrying over to Haida Gwaii. Janess is a wonderful hostess and we loved her home which is located in the residential area. The accommodations take up the entire second floor and were very comfortable. The bathroom was like going to a spa retreat. We enjoyed our conversations with Janess and she gave us many ideas of places to check out and restaurants that may interest us. We had a 10 p.m. sailing on our last day and because the B&B wasn't booked for that night, Janess allowed us to check out later in the day. We would definitely recommend this B&B and hope to stay there again.
We spent two great days/nights in the place of Janess. What a wonderful host in all ways (welcoming, baking, giving good tips, interesting and a lot more)! Breakfast is great. Her house is decorated with love. The view from the room and from the terrace is so nice. A place to feel at home.
Hands-down, the best B and B I’ve ever stayed in (though some of the competition is fierce) ... beautifully renovated 90-year-old home, quiet, private, and owned by a delightful hostess who is a master baker. It’s a 20-25 minute walk to downtown and the harbour parks and shops, and a five-minute taxi to the BC Ferries/VIA Rail terminal. Guests have the whole second floor, with an amazing bathroom and a better bed. And it’s remarkably inexpensive given the quality and that it’s high season.
Wow! The Tides BnB is exceptional as is Janss your welcoming hostess. Our short stay - 2 nights en route to Jasper - felt like 4. Everything has been thought of without fuss from breakfast - wholesome, fresh and generous - to the linen, wifi, recommendations for activities and places to eat (don't miss the Cow Bay Cafe) ... there is nothing not to like! Don't miss The Tides if you are in Prince Rupert.
I found The Tides B&B on line by chance and was delighted that I did. From the time I sent an email enquiry, Janess could not have been more helpful. I spoke to her before leaving the UK and she explained what would happen. We arrived on the ferry in Prince Rupert at 23.50 and by the time the taxi had dropped us off it was well after midnight. She welcomed us warmly and even had coffee and biscuits available had we wanted it. The suite, the top floor of her house was delightful. It was very comfortable and ideal for our three night stay. The breakfasts were very good, fruit juice, cereal, fresh fruit and yoghurt and home made scones. We enjoyed our conversations with her and on the morning we left, which was very early to catch the train to Jasper, we had cereal and juice and Janess packed up a second breakfast for the train. It certainly compares with the best we have stayed in world wide. We would certainly recommend The Tides to anyone.…
Janess, the owner, excels at running this B&B, going above and beyond in attending to the needs of her guests. In spite of having to wait up for us because of our late arrival, she immediately made us feel welcome and appreciated. The top-floor room is large, immaculate, and tastefully furnished. It has huge slanted skylights which can be opened and from which there is a spectacular view of Prince Rupert Harbour. The feather mattress on the queen-size bed is superbly comfortable, and the adjoining bathroom is absolutely luxurious. In addition to a large marble countertop with double sinks, it includes an enormous walk-in double shower and a separate tub with jets. Breakfast consisted of a selection of cold cereals, fresh fruits, home-baked goods such as muffins, and excellent coffee, all elegantly presented in the house's attractive dining room. In addition to breakfast, we enjoyed relaxing on the patio in the rear garden and on the large front deck overlooking the harbour. Having spent two nights in another of Prince Rupert's B&Bs, we can affirm that The Tides B&B was by far the better of the two. …
