What a wonderful place, was welcomed warmly even though it was midnight!, Breakfast was entertaining and informative, our breakfast was very tasty and kept us going all day, Coleen got all the guests chatting, She is a brilliant host, great view, quirky - in the best possible way, Thankyou, Would return
Our train was 4 hours late getting in -It was 1:30 am- the hostess was waiting for us to arrive. Colleen welcomed us with open arms. She showed us our room, explained the amenities and wished us a good night's sleep. What a comfortable bed! Beautiful view from our room. Super breakfast in the morning. Suggested places to walk to for sight-seeing, shopping. The Guest House is a combination museum, hair salon, and the first ever built house in Prince Rupert. The house displays many beautiful paintings, antique furniture and super entertainment by the hostess. She is a beautiful singer and entertainer as well as a lovely cook. All and all a very enjoyable one night stay. Would stay there again given the chance.
We had a very comfortable room in this historic house. The bathroom is shared with 2 other guestrooms, but has an amazing view. The hostess accommodates late arrival/early start for the ferry. She provides a full and very substantial delicious breakfast, with lots of interesting information about the history of the house AND a performance of Edith Piaf songs ….. a memorable moment amongst all the wonders of our Canadian trip.
I spent just one night in the Pillsbury Guest House. The house is the first ever built in Prince Rupert so do not expect a modern villa ;) I am personally not into bits & bobs so the decoration of the room to me felt cluttered. The bed is comfortable though - I had a good night. Bathroom has a tub with a hand held shower head which for clumsy people like me isn't the easiest way to shower. Towels are pretty worn. I did not have breakfast but Colleen made me a nice snack bag. Host is very friendly and allowed me to store my suitcase at her place while I was out on a multi-day trip. The 3/5 is not meant as a "bad" rating, but a truthful one. This is a nice historic place which will offer you a warm welcome, but it is not for everybody. Super good price for a comfy night in P.R. though!…
Our train was a few hours late getting into Prince Rupert, but our hostess Colleen welcomed us cheerfully and showed us into our delightful room. After our 15 hour day on the train, we slept well and were allowed to choose a later breakfast. Breakfast was a 3 course meal with entertaining conversation, a lasting impression, and a desire to return someday and stay longer! And so, our first impressions of Prince Rupert were made by a wonderful, knowledgeable lady in a wonderfully historic house. It does Prince Rupert proud to have such an interesting setting available to visitors to their city. Thank you!
Colleen will welcome you into this heritage home with a cheerful smile and warm heart. The rooms are comfy with a wide range of items from the early 1900 to more current, keeping in character with the house. Enjoy the sunset in the gazebo. And the breakfast is delicious!
Excellent experience with B&B, lovely hostess ( special thanks!), perfect location with ocean view, very tasty food and welcome atmosphere. We received musical "gift" the first morning, it was very impressive. Thanks a lot for great gob!
We just loved this place. It's an old house but very clean and one that you feel at home in as soon as you enter. Beautiful location with an amazing view of the harbour and an easy walk to all of downtown. The breakfast is absolutely amazing with three courses: fruit salad - a delicious baked egg/cheese/ham tortilla - and delicious French crepes with all the trimmings. But the best part of staying at this house is the hostess. She's pretty much the most endearing person ever and treated us with her performance of some Edith Piaf favourites. She really has the most beautiful voice. This place is a refreshing change from the stuffy atmosphere in a lot of accommodations and we would recommend.”
I found Pillsbury house a very comfortable place to stay. It was warm clean and the host is very gracious and intelligent company. It is right by the sea and when the Alaska cruise ship comes in it seems like you can reach out and touch it. It was also readily accessible to both downtown and and the Cow Bay boardwalk with its interesting shops.
Incredible food, obliging hostess, will go again. We had to get the early train and breakfast was ready for 7am. Lovely musical special as well the first morning. Location couldn't be better with view of the waterfront and within easy walk to down town.
