This is our second time at Del Canto and both times we have loved Del Canto. This time had the pleasure of renting Casa Paraiso at Del Canto for two weeks. Ana meet us at the lobby and took the time to show us the condo and answer all our questions. Ana is amazing to deal with and was so helpful. The condo is a spacious three bedroom/three bathroom layout with incredible views of the resort and ocean. The condo is well stocked and the beds are very comfortable. Del Canto is a beautiful resort with staff that are always ready to help. The property is well maintained. There is construction at the property as the last two phases are being built so it can be noisy but it is very interesting to watch. We are definitely hoping to return. Thanks Ana!

We rented Suite Sol 4A for a week as our condominium is being renovated. This is a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom suite with kitchen. We paid top dollar because we wanted to be close to our renovations. On arrival, the air conditioning wasn't working. It was fixed in 24 hours. The guest bathroom doors are coming off their hinges, the laundry room is so dirty, I won't go in it. There are no supplies - toilet paper, yes, but no shampoo, no soap, no dishwashing liquid. I'm not even sure if the suite is serviced! The marketing information indicates " chic interiors designed by Melin Castro". The sofa is worn and the description of the suite on Bookings.com is misleading at best. Del Canto is a great resort. This suite does not do it justice.

Make sure in your rental agreement, that you are allowed to have your guests visit you and are allowed on the beach. Luckily our agent made sure that the owner of the rental stated we could have guest visit us and use the pool and private beach. Pretty awkward situation sorting this out with management at the front desk.

We stayed at Delcanto last year and were thrilled with the property and our experience. We went back again this year because we liked it so much the first time and unfortunately the experience was not so great. We knew that there would be construction going on but were assured by the owner that it wouldn't be a bother however, it most certainly was. The noise from the new building that is being constructed was very loud and went from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday with a half day on Saturday. We couldn’t even sit outside on the terrace and have a conversation without having to yell. We talked to the owner about not wanting to stay and that we wanted to find other accommodation and she agreed to refund our money. We literally spent 3 days feeling stressed while looking for somewhere else to stay but weren’t able to find anything else in our budget so she refunded us 2 nights. That barely makes up for all the phone calls to “Homeaway” and time spent making a complaint to try and get some kind of resolution just to end up in a place that you don’t want to be. There are a lot of new buildings going up everywhere in the area so you must really do your homework if construction noise is something that you do not want to put up with. We did our due diligence but even so that didn’t help when people don’t tell you the truth about how loud it really is and say it won’t be a problem. Nothing else seemed to go too well during our time there this year either. We agreed to a later than usual check-in at 5pm. When we arrived at that time they told us that the condo was ready for us and it wasn't. The front desk then told us that the housekeeper had cleaned the wrong condo. At 7:30pm when we still hadn’t heard anything, we went to check and see if it was ready and no, she was still cleaning. We ended up helping the housekeeper by finishing the laundry and cleaning the fridge so that we could just get in and get settled. During our stay there was an issue with one of the light fixtures in the kitchen; it exploded over my head followed by a burning electrical odor and soot everywhere. We contacted the owner about it and she arranged for maintenance to fix it. It took them 3 separate trips to the condo to do so. There is only one key to this condo, which is ridiculous. They told us a time that they would come by and they didn’t show up. We even left the key at the front desk several times so that they could get in while we were out and they didn’t. This owner lives in the U.S. and manages the condo herself instead of hiring a local property management company, I’m assuming to save money. So when things go sideways it’s the renter who pays the price. One night at 9:30 pm there was a huge racket coming from below the condo followed by noxious smoke billowing up over the terrace. We didn’t know what was going on so we called the front desk. They told us they were fumigating with diesel fuel and they did it again another night at 9pm while we were there. Why at night is beyond me. Why not during the day along with all of the other construction noise! There is a new front desk staff this year and they were not the least bit helpful or very friendly like they were last year. On our check-out day we had to be out of the condo by 10am and they called us at 9am to see if we were out. We have the only key so if we haven’t returned it that means we are still in the unit. And thanks to the elevator floor being cleaned with a product containing bleach, I now have bleach marks on the bottom of the nice floor-length dress that I bought on our holiday. There is a completely different vibe to this place now and not for the better. The owner gave us a rating of 3 stars out of 5 on “Homeaway” for “communication” which I thought was not fair. During both of our stays we always took the time to let her know of any issues that arose. We are vacationers paying good money to stay in a nice place not house sitters! After everything that went wrong this trip it has convinced us never to stay at Delcanto or use “Homeaway” again.
