The staff was courteous and friendly. The breakfast was fair. The breakfast included fruit, yogurt, toast and waffles.
The only problem we had was we had one dirty towel. The cleaning lady came very late in the evening. One night we came back at 6:00 pm and our room had not been cleaned. We had to come back later and it was cleaned.
I really liked the location which is a five minute walk to all sorts of attractions including shopping and a movie theater.
My room had a view of Popocatpetl. What more could I ask?
Just in front of the hotel are a few Mexican restaurants in a park about 2 blocks long. The restaurant on the right coming out of the hotel was the best of the bunch. The hotel is walking distance to the Zocalo (10 minutes) and a couple minutes walk to Paseo San Francisco. We found Taxi fares in puebla to be really reasonable, between 30 and 45 pesos depending on distance, so we used taxis a lot.
Highly recommend City express
The rooms are quite spartan but in a modern way (see pictures). There are no drawers so if you don’t want to be looking at your underwear the entire time then this is not the hotel for you. The bed was not quite a queen yet not quite a double, and it was very uncomfortable.
The air conditioning is loud and the internet was scarce to none in the room.
There was a very unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom which we finally figured was from the shower drain so we resolved it by covering up the drain at night with a rubber shoe. The shower itself was good
The breakfast, included in the price, was exactly the same every morning and in a very closed-in, cold space. This is fine for one or two mornings, but by the third day you didn’t want to see watermelon and cantaloupe again. Quite unappealing.
I can see how this hotel concept could be excellent for those on business who just need a place to iron their morning shirt and are off to work, but definitely not recommended for visitors.
"In ground floor rooms (at least in room 112), the curtains (mesh screen) allows outstanding people to look in your room and eliminates any privacy, though this only may happen, if maintenance personal has to go into the garden."Read full review
