This place is excellent. The rooms are decorated nicely and very spacious. There’s a rooftop pool with chairs in the water which was a plus for me. Restaurant and shops all within walking distance. I definitely would recommend this hotel.
Just visited the Thompson. It was a great experience. We had an amazing time at the roof top bar and our server *Janet* was absolutely amazingly attentive and wonderful. Make sure you ask for her, because she made our trip. Also, remember the hotel is downtown, as in •DOWNTOWN• There will be music, crowds, and a good time - I don’t think the sound was an issue. Light sleepers, complainers, or the fun police may think about staying at beach house, which is more low Key, and awesome as well. That being said, sound proofing in the room is quite good, and we stayed over the Main Street. The staff was great and was so accommodating; yet was not overwhelming and gave you space. We were pleased with our stay...and would encourage others to stay here as well, and ask for Janet. 😘…
I booked a Suite. It has a jacuzzi that is next to the balcony, and in front of the Balcony is tuis Restaurant called “Cantina”. The thing is that there is no curtain in this Big Window and all the people can see you when you are showering and when you are in the Jacuzzi. I asked 3 times for this to be solved and they didn’t solved the problem, they keep telling me that they would do something which wasn’t true. AlsoYou can hear all the music of the street inside the room, the windows doesn’t isolate the sound. You cannot sleep with all this noise. The night in this room costs about $ 550 per night and DEFINITELY DONT WORTH IT. I wouldnt come back.
The Thompson in Playa del Carmen was a fantastic home base for us to explore the area. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is very attentive. Definitely spend time at the Beach House as well. Visit René at the beach house bar - he ran a great tequila tearing for us and took care of our drinks the whole time we were there. Thanks René! The Cbar restaurant at the Beach House is amazing. It was probably the best meal we had in Playa. Their Christmas brunch was four courses of pure enjoyment. Enjoy Cbar when you stay at the Thompson. Overall there's a lot to love about the Thompson. Staying in the city center is convenient and you still have access to the Beach House. Plus the staff we met were always super friendly! Totally recommended.
Day party at the pool was so fun! Reasonably priced for our group of 4. It came to 650 pesos per person (minimum spend) And they gave us a couple free drinks to boot. We felt safe and well taken care of. would definitely come back.
"Our room was a non-starter because of massive noise until 3am or later. We were facing 5th avenue."Read full review
