The Platinum Yucatan Princess is not only an exceptional resort, it is staffed by hard working professional employees. Having travelled extensively in the Caribbean (sixteen countries and islands) many prominent quality properties, this property and staff rate very highly. The staff work hard daily to keep the beach in prestige condition.

We knew that the situation would probably restrict some of the available facilities and so it was. Two of the restaurants were closed, as were the golf range and baseball cage. The adjacent family resort was available so if you needed additional restaurants they were there. However the plus points still made our stay relaxed and enjoyable. The swim up room was brilliant, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The pool was a joy. We were regularly visited by the bar staff to fetch us all inclusive drinks, The pool bar was great, although often frequented by very loud people obviously enjoying the booze. The restaurants were excellent, the food really good with lots of choice. The only real issue was the seaweed on the beach. To be fair we knew about this from a previous visit to the region, they are fighting a losing battle. The staff concentrated on keeping the family beach clean which was understandable and available for our use, but we prefer to avoid other people’s children when on holiday.

We were hesitant to continue with our booking based on some of the comments made here. We are more than happy to report, the bad reviews are unfounded. We had the greatest week here from 09/23 to 09/30. My husband and I came for a relaxing getaway and that is what we got. The room: Platinum Swim Out is a must. Our room was clean, bright and super well located close to the quiet pool, restaurants and bar. If you can, book this level of room. So worth it. The pools so so clean and warm. The staff: not one member of the staff was rude or not accommodating. Everyone spoke to us and always delivered incredible service. They are also top notch on maintaining safety protocol. Sanitizer everywhere. Mask enforcement. And constantly cleaning and working on the grounds/pools. The COVID testing: booked our appointment for our PCR test at the concierge. Tested 72 hours prior to departure. Had our results that night. Nurse came to the lobby to test us. Super smooth process. $155/USD for the PCR for Canadian requirement. The food: we did not go hungry. The buffet was more than perfect for us. Fresh omelets every morning made to order. Plenty of bacon and proteins. Lots of fruit as well. The fresh tacos were amazing. Made on the grill right in front of you. We are not picky whatsoever. We are very much used to resort food around the globe and we found this buffet quite tasty. The a la carte Tao and Bruschetta were delish as well. Great, friendly service with very large portions. Room service was quick and very good too! Tipping: we tipped everyone. They deserved it and truly they treated us like royalty the whole time. The beach: the beach was not expected to be great. We prepped ourselves for this, as September is still hurricane season. We did not use it much at all. We went for walks next door to the sister resort and got our beach fix. But we were not there with the expectation of powdery, luscious beaches. The smell was not an issue at all when we were there. The Spa: top notch massages. Wow! Best massages of our lives. So good, we went 3 times. You also get use of the hydrotherapy circuit with the steam and sauna rooms with each treatment. Definitely worth it. You get 50% off your massage if you book upon arrival. Do this! You'll be so happy you did. To sum it up, we would gladly return to this resort. If you want a very chill getaway with great pools and serenity, you'll have a great time. It was better than we had hoped for. Be kind to the staff. They literally have to deal with some pretty rude and disrespectful patrons daily (as we observed.) If you are kind, you'll get it back ten fold. Happy Vacationing!

My rating would be 3.5 but it’s not available to give. Our stay was 9/10/21 - 09/17/21 The hotel itself is nice and we were in building 5 and was super quiet. It’s modern and clean. The workers there are always cleaning the grounds. There is some repairs needed on the buildings and you can see possible damage from past hurricanes. But it’s all to be expected for area. The beach is really small and there was a lot of seaweed on beach, but that is not the properties fault. They clean what they can. It DID NOT smell as bad as others claimed, it smelled like ocean. You can also walk to other princess resort were the beach was bigger, still had seaweed but wasn’t as bad. The room was well appointed and we had a swim out room in the platinum suites (5010) it is a little weird having a bathtub in the middle of room, but being all adult resort I get it. Luckily toilet is in its own room. They have all the necessary amenities (shampoo & conditioner, lotion, sewing kit, shower cap, shower gel) in room. Shower was amazing with the 2 rain shower heads with lots of room. I did grab the table from patio to put in shower so I could shave my legs, as there is no seat in shower. Our room was next to spa which made it very nice and down from main lobby which was really nice if you needed to book tours, or use concierge. The restaurant’s are also right across the room, made it easy to grab a quick bite or some fruit to take to go for our excursions. having a swim out room is the only way to go. If your in building 5 on any other level you have to go to main pool to swim, which is loud and fairly small for a resort. It isn’t facing ocean, so there is no view. But all the activities go on there. If your on upper level in platinum suites you don’t really have a pool, as swim out rooms are suppose to be just for those who booked those rooms. I feel like there is plenty of room to add another pool in this area for that reason. There is a swim up bar at the end of building 5. You can walk down to get drinks also waitress comes around often to get you drinks. I wish the swim out pool area were connected so you can swim to swim up bar, but unfortunately there are walk ways between areas. Food was the usual standard fair for an all inclusive resort. Nothing to write home about. Buffet at Yucatán changed every night but always had standard salad and bread at all meals. The breakfast was the best with the omelette station. Tacos station was the best overall, and pasta. All the pre-made items were usually cold and lacked flavor. Ask for salt at your table, nothing has seasoning on it, it’s very bland. It was sad even guacamole was flavorless, how do you mess up guacamole in Mexico? But we never come for the food at all inclusive, it’s just nice not worrying about food and just joy vacation. You can always go in town and get authentic Mexican food or take a food tour. The drinks were really good and you can actually taste the alcohol. Just make sure to tip wait staff. They will even bring you new drinks to try that aren’t on menu that you may like. We tried one ala cart restaurant and was Sadly disappointed. We went to Tao and the portions were extremely small and not very good. Pre-made sushi tasted old. Salad was literally 3 bites. The main dish was good but small portion. We had the fried ice cream which by far was one of the best thing we ate during our stay. A must try. We ended up back a the Yucatán buffet because we were still hungry. As we saw many people doing the same thing. We saw many men in pants at buffet as they are required at Ala cart restaurants. The staff was AMAZING! Everyone we encountered was fabulous. Very helpful and super friendly. Check in and out was super smooth. The lady who assisted us at check in explained everything and went over resort map. We couldn’t have been happier with the service we had, from housekeeping to grounds keepers. Make sure to walk the grounds. There are some great little finds. Beautiful flora and fona. We loved interacting with the coati’s(part of raccoon family) all over the grounds. They are so adorable and we hand fed them bananas. Which I wouldn’t encourage, but there so cute. Spa was fabulous. Not because of amenities but my massage therapist was amazing. Best massage I’ve ever had. If you can book with Octavio you will not be disappointed. Perfect pressure and he even braided the top of my hair when he was finished with head massage. It was a very cute touch. Loved the steam room the fresh mint smell in there was great to breathe on. So relaxing and then jump into the pool area to cool off. For the price it was good value overall. It’s a small resort if you just stay at adult only platinum Yucatán princess. But if you want more you can definitely walk to other resorts but prepare for the kids.

I was super excited to come back to this resort for the second time with our friends. My first time was in September of 2016 with my husband. Our first time at this resort was a wonderful experience! But this time around it was by far the worst experience I have had in a resort. The front desk personnel will make you feel as if they are doing you a favor by "upgrading your room" for free. Don't be fooled because they do it to everyone so you're not special. We went with two other couples who arrived at different dates and they too got "room upgrades". When we arrived at our "upgraded room" the room was musty and moldy and I didn't have a view of anything. I went to the front desk and asked if I can get a different room. They said it would be an additional fee. I was open to paying until I found out my friends got the upgrade with a view for free. I tried to explain it to them and their manager but they said they couldn't do it because they didn't have any rooms available. When I asked her then why were you all ready to upgrade my room when I said I was ok with paying extra. They couldn't answer. The rooms were humid and musty. The sheets and bed smelled musty and moldy even after they changed the sheets. There was mold all over the bathroom shower heads and corners. Electrical outlets didn't work and the water from the shower would leak out to the room floor. The tv remote didn't work and our clothes iron didn't work. When we advised the front desk of the defects, they replaced the remote and iron and they attempted to fix the shower leak with caulking but that didn't work. The food at the buffet was not good. The restaurants were ok. We had dinner at Tao one night. The hibachi grill cook was entertaining but the sushi they served was disgusting. The sushi rice old, hard and stale. The wine bottles I ended up purchasing was way over priced ($45 to $55 usd) for cheap wine. During the day we would all hangout by the main pool with the swim up bar. Behind the bar area there is a tour guy who worked for (LIVE IT water activities) sitting underneath a hut. BEWARE this guy (Fernando) he will scam you! We all wanted to do a sunset sail trip to Isla Mujeres. He quoted us $79 usd per person and $25 usd for docking at transportation fee. Well after we agreed and gave him our cards after we signed the receipt he ended up charging us $97 usd per person and ended up raising the transportation and docking fee to $33 usd. Our receipt didn't state the $97 usd per person, it stated $79 usd per person. We asked why he charged our cards more than the $79 usd and he said it was a 5% credit card service fee. We did the math and it didn't add up to be the 5% fee; we were charged more than the 5%. Everyone in our group was upset because he charged our credit cards amounts we didn't approve. This left a bad taste in our mouths and didn't want to go through the tour. We asked for our money back but Fernando said he couldn't give us a refund. The spa was decent. We all got a Yucatan massage and it was decent. This was probably the only thing I enjoyed at this resort besides being with our friends. I will never return to this resort. It was very disappointing. They didn't even reach the mediocre level and the front desk personnel are not accommodating. I was truly embarrassed to have brought my friends here after I talked this place up.
