This resort is a MUST if you plan to go to the Cancun area! Some of the nicest staff I have ever encountered in a hotel! Everyone is so friendly, they go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay, and the food and drinks were delicious and refreshing! Also, the resort is extremely clean & safe. They have floor mats, hand sanitizer stations, and disposal masks everywhere, so you feel safe and can truly relax and enjoy your time at Hilton Playa feel Carmen!

Hotel's Favourite
Just returned today from this all-inclusive adults only resort. Before entering the hotel, covid prevention is in full effect (shoe disinfecting, temperature taking, mask wearing requirement enforced) along with friendly greetings, and a drink of your choice. It was a very nice welcome. Of course at check-in there is the usual attempt to upsell you, but 'NO' is a complete sentence. I ended up paying for a cabana for two days so, I kinda said 'no' and then later changed my mind. LOL! The rooms and grounds were spotless. But what truly made the stay there unforgettable for me was the genuine warmth and smiles of all that worked on the premises. The hand placed on the heart when they greet in the hallway or from behind a desk you went a long way. The pool area is spacious and the pool entertainment gives it all a party atmosphere. The choices of foods were plentiful with Asiana and Pelicanos being my favorite places to eat. I will say that if you are looking for a beach to lay on or swim in, this is not the place. The abundance of seaweed shut out the possibility of swimming there. I highly recommend a stay at this resort. I know that I will be back as the friendly, warm staff make you feel at home. Also, be sure to make a round-trip reservation for private airport transportation so that you are not roped into a crazy, lengthy public taxi situation.

After checkout, I discovered they had canceled my reservation and booked me under someone else. Therefore I didn’t get my Honors points. They also charged me for someone else’s incidentals at checkout and then argued the fact even though it was on my credit card. I have called Hilton’s Diamond line 6 times so far and zero resolution. I have yet to see a receipt for my room which does not match the rate I booked under. Hilton representative conferences in the local facility to explain where they had messed up. They argued with him and denied their mistakes even though the evidence was contrary.

Let me preface my review by saying the first time we came to this resort back in 2019, it was WONDERFUL, which is why we came back for our first real post-COVID vacation, two years later. Seeing the transformation this property has made since being acquired by Hilton was sad. I know COVID is still a big problem in Mexico due to lower vaccination rates than the U.S., but every opportunity to nickel and dime customers was blamed on COVID. Free pool seating was dramatically reduced, and instead replaced by pay-by-the-day cabanas. I'm sorry, but all-inclusive should mean just that - ALL inclusive. We ended up paying an extra $150/day to have a poolside cabana with alcohol and food service. (You have to pay extra if you want food service.) We also noticed the free pool seating - which isn't poolside, but rather, about 20-30 feet back from the pool - was reduced on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, driving people to pay for the cabanas out of necessity. My poor pale husband got fried by day two, so we HAD to get a covered cabana for a few days. The cabanas on the beach are free and do not require reservations; however, the beach is not a nice beach to sit by. There is a ton of stinky seaweed built up, there are people constantly and aggressively approaching you to sell you something, and the beach hasn't been backfilled with sand since the last hurricane season, so you can't get more than knee-deep before you hit literal rock bottom. It was sad to look up the coast and see all the other resorts with soft, sandy beaches, while ours looked shabby and gross. Perhaps the most infuriating "COVID" rule is the adjusted alcohol service times. Alcohol service in bars and restaurants starts at 10AM; poolside alcohol service starts at 11AM. All alcohol service ends at 10PM. This really changed the tone of our entire vacation - who doesn't like to start the day with mimosas at breakfast, and end the evening with a nightcap at the bar? We ended up bringing mini-bottles of vodka and tequila from our room's mini-fridge to breakfast to add to our juice. We also ordered a bottle of champagne (not free) to our room, and ordered juice as part of our room-serviced breakfast the next day, so we made mimosas in our room. We're not big drinkers, but having to cheat the system to have one damn breakfast cocktail a day absolutely sucked. This rule is completely pointless, and is clearly just a way for Hilton to save money. All that said, there are still some upsides. There is a nice coffeeshop right off the main lobby; unfortunately, it was perpetually out of half the menu items the entire week we were there. The food at the restaurants is also pretty good. (Note that shirts/bottoms are required at all of the restaurants, even the poolside restaurant - no walking in from the pool in a coverup without shorts on!) The only saving grace for this resort is the kind and attentive staff. We often saw the same person at breakfast, then poolside, then at dinner, so you KNOW they're understaffed and working crazy hours. Poolside alcohol service could be a little faster, but again, they're clearly working with what Hilton gives them, which is not a lot. This review would be a one-star review, save for the amazing staff. We loved every server we had, including our amazing housekeeping team. Despite the excellent service, Hilton has shown its true colors through reduced benefits and added costs. We will NOT be returning to the property, and we will NOT be recommending it to others. We heard similar feedback from other guests there, some of whom had been going to that resort for 20+ years. Very sad.

I had an awesome week staying at the Hilton playa del Carmen. From day one the staff was very tentative, professional and very friendly. I got to meet almost the entire staff by the pool area. Eulalio, Alberto, David, Pablo just to name a few. But every single one i meet was 100% awesome!. The drinks were on point. The food was delicious. Every day and night we ate at a different restaurant in the resort. A tip to anyone planning to stay is to always listen to the staff when recommending or advising where to eat. I did and I did and the experience was amazing. For activities outside the resort, talk to Octavio his desk is across the gift shop. And for the pick up and drop off speak to Julio…now to schedule a photo section speak to Edgar the photographer. And for a hookup at the gift shop speak to the Other Edgar (not the photographer). And one last think, 5th Ave is just a block away from the hotel. The street is very safe there a lot of gift shops restaurants and others vendors the people were also very friendly. Hope this helps! Gracias a todos del Hilton, de corazon!
