Very nice hotel. Very beutifull.Food quality amazing. Rooms are a bit outdated, but that didnt bother us. We had room close to the reception. It was laud at night from the main street. Mariano at the pool bar was amazing! Very helpfull! Had one bad experiance with covid test on the way back. They do the test very deeply and painfuly for adults. Nurse was not very nice too. Would not go back to the hotel only becouse of bad experiance with the covid test!
My wife and I had an great stay at beautiful Mahekal Beach Resort. We arrive only hours after hurricane Zeta. They and a truck size generator powering the place due to power outage and staff of the resort did an amazing job with clean up. We we're lucky to have chosen a location prepared and ready to keep things open. Within a day you could hardly tell a storm went by. The restaurant had great food, but the attentive service was what made it special. They all knew our names and room within a day. They go above and beyond to make sure you are happy and enjoying every moment of your stay. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. Rogelio and all the staff made it more than just a beautiful beach vacation. We'll remember the people as much as the place.
All the Team or I should say "Mahekal Family" is incredible friendly to make your experience fantastic, from "Humberto" the gardener a humble and insightful person, to the "Fuego" Staff Francisco the manager, Guillermo, Andres, Ismael, Rogelio, Aurora, Juan, Jairo, Claudia, they will you feel at home in Paradise. From now on our Home in Playa
Best vacation I have been on in a long time. Great drinks, food, service and location. Area is super safe, will definitely be back! From the time I arrived until the day I left every was perfect. The beaches are also very nice!
My husband and I really enjoyed our time at Mahekal. We choose the all inclusive package and stayed for 5 days. The service was great, the food was yummy and the pool and beach were so relaxing. The servers all went out of their way to guarantee you had everything you needed. The location was close to 5th Avenue so many things were walkable if you choose to leave the resort. The water was crystal clear and a perfect temperature. What I most liked was that the resort was smaller and quaint than some of the others and we had our own palapa. The palapa roof was really cool but it did shed a little inside the room. It also has a certain smell that took me a few minutes to get used to. One other thing to point out is noise. We stayed on the furthest south side of the resort and in the evenings there is constant thump base music from another location. It shuts off around 10 or 11. My husband is a light sleeper so this bothered him. So did the music of a spin class at 6am a few buildings down. There were a few mosquitoes but I don’t recall getting bitten even when we went to a cenote. We had two restaurants to choose from. What I liked was that I was able to customize my dinners a few times when I didn’t want one of the main dinner dishes. The Mahekal breakfast coffee was amazing. It’s their speciality where coffee is mixed with fruit, sweetener and cinnamon. We enjoyed endless drinks by the pool and ocean. We took the resort’s bikes out one afternoon and rode down to Playa Car. October ended up being a great month. While things were steady, it wasn’t as busy like the time we went over New Years. The hotel offered hassle free no charge Covid tests for our return home. We used USA Transfers for our transportation from the Airport to the resort. It costs around $125 TOTAL for both ways for 2 people. I’d give it 4.5 stars. I rounded up to 5 for this review. We hope to come back again.…
