Excellent stay!
We had a great 4-night stay at The Fives Downtown Hotel in Playa, a Curio Collection Hilton Hotel. The location is conveniently 1-block from 5th Avenue pedestrian mall. While there is loud Latin music at night in the nearby neighborhood, the convenient location, attentive hotel staff, and the many amenities far outweigh this annoyance. Janet the concierge was helpful, as was Jose the bellman. Enrique at the front desk helped us use Diamond status for complimentary admission to nearby Martina Beach Club. As Diamond members we also had access to the jacuzzi at the roof garden pool and spa area, and recieved delicious buffet breakfast including cook-to-order eggs, waffles, pancakes, etc., at Mercatto, the hotel restaurant. Janet also invited us to a reasonably priced Jazz Night 3-course dinner in the hotel restaurant, where the food and drinks were superb and the live music was exceptional by a 4-member local jazz band. As Diamond members, we also received a complimentary upgrade to a spacious King Suite with ocean view balcony. We used valet parking for rental car $15 USD; there were no other good nearby parking alternatives for overnight parking. We highly recommend this Hilton property for both adults and families! …

Nice Property
We spent Christmas 2019 and 2020 New Years eve at this property. The property is great, clean and the breakfast is good. I enjoyed the roof-top swimming pool for the view is breath-taking. Marley coffee shop best coffee. Great service and location. The rooms are very comfortable since we had our upgrade as Hilton honor Diamond members.

Not good experience
This is our second time to stay at The Fives. The first time the service on the rooftop was so-so. They push you for tips and get mad if you don’t have cash. It took us more than 20 minutes to get a drink, and it wasn’t even busy. Same thing with this visit....but it took 30 minutes to get a drink. The room was very humid. The only thing good about the visit was Juan, who greeted us and was extremely nice. I believe that you should get what you pay for, and that roof top pool is a joke. We will be staying somewhere else on our next visit here.

Top notch property and customer service!
This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at - beautiful and comfortable room, excellent food, drinks and coffee shop, fantastic rooftop pool area with plenty of chairs available. But what really made this 6 day stay unforgettable is the exceptional customer service. Janet and Annabella were in touch with me before I ever arrived and ensured I had the perfect room and surprise for my son's birthday! And then I hobbled back to the hotel after being stung by a jellyfish ... they all took such good care of me. Janet, Annabella, Livia, Jose - THANK YOU! You had the medic clean it up, got me up to my room, cared for me, and even checked in to make sure all was OK. My son and I got VIP treatment for the rest of the stay, enjoying the spa area and having Chef Gonzalo make custom food for us. WOW, I can't say enough. More than great!
This place has an amazing service, facilities, location and a great staff. Livia was always near willing to help, everything was according to what we expected and we felt literally like home. My wife’s birthday celebration could not have been better elsewhere. We are looking forward to come back! Es un lugar increíble con súper servicios, instalaciones, ubicación y un gran staff. There probably is an option to upgrade to a buffet breakfast. You will have to pay 200 pesos per person.The buffet has a lovely spread with made to order eggs included. If you want to be flexible with your breakfast menu and wish to visit other restaurants then it may be best to go with the continental option.

I notice there is a $20 resort fee daily. If we book a transat package will we be charged this fee by the hotel
I’m not sure. I did not see that fee on my bill. I booked through Hilton.

Sorry, not understanding what a kitchen hob is, mentioned $25 charge Sounds like there are many extra charges
A hob is a cooking area where you can use saucepans to cook food. Not aware of any additional charges however we didn’t use the cooking facilities in the room at all as ate out.
