My vacation at the Paradisus in Cancun was absolutely wonderful. A special mention for Liliana, Amulfo, and Guillermo from la Malva PM as they absolutely did everything to accommodate our special request. Their attention to making sure we were taken care of was amazing. My wife and I felt pampered. Can't wait to come back later this year.
Amazing, Awesome,Friendly, Clean are just a few words to start this review. Let me start with Astrid of Guest Services and Alejandra in the Club concierge section. They are both quick to reply & fix any issues that may come up during the stay. Excellent contacts & they do their job with a smile.Very pleasant & helpful. The room was great. The beds were so comfortable everyone in our group slept like babies. It was quiet, clean, fully stocked and AC was perfect after a hot day at the pool. Cleaning staff are excellent. Malva restaurant is outstanding. The assortment of food, beverages, desserts and meal stations available here is no way you leave hungry. The staff is constantly refilling the trays if they run low on food. They will take your plates and bring to your table if your hands are full. Suriday the hostess is very sweet & she is always moving & making sure you are seated quickly. Gaudencio, Joni, Manuel, Antonio, Ramiro & Raul to name a few are outstanding. They remembered what we preferred to drink, refilled our cups throughout our meals & made sure we were refilled in our mugs to go before we left. Very Attentive. If something is not on the table and you ask they will deliver it in seconds. Not only was the staff absolutely on top of their job duties they are very personable. All always were smiling and friendly. We only did the beach 1 day and Luz was our angel of a hostess/waitress. She was on the go from the second her feet hit the sand until we left. She was pleasant, friendly, funny & remembered all of our orders with no issues. Luz is a hustler and a great member of the Melia staff. Cristina at the main pool was there every morning sweeping the excessive water away from under the chairs with a smile. They clean the pool daily & efficiently. They have someone in the pool every morning cleaning the pool floor, adding supplies such as chlorine and pumping in/out what was needed. Pool was amazing & refreshing. Elliot & Yvonne at the pool are fantastic. They helped us get the huts and Bali beds every day. We actually had the pleasure of meeting Elliot in 2019 when he was working the beach & we were very happy to see him still at the Melia. They work very well together and fulfilled all of our requests. Without the huts no way we would have enjoyed the day. The huts were a must for us. Balta, Sergio & all of the bartenders and staff at the main pool are sensational, amazing, fun, caring, very personable and I can't say one bad thing about any of them. They all work very hard every shift. They remember what one prefers to eat for lunch or if we had a special drink preference. Balta went above & beyond when one of my girls wasn't feeling well & helped get some soup and rice to eat. To have him go above and beyond to help make her feel better we will forever be thankful for his kindness. Giovany and Roberto at the Ginger Bar we became friends from the minute we met. They make a delicious drink, make you feel very comfortable during your time at the bar. Both are diligent, happy, bright & very welcoming to their area. The silent disco on Sat night was my favorite part & wished they had it more than once a week. I have been to several resorts in Mexica, DR. & Aruba and this was my best vacation ever. The staff made the vacation we all wanted & needed perfect. !00% outstanding staff. Only thing I would like to see adjusted or changed is to be able to make dinner reservations at check in or on line before arriving. Having to leave your activity to wait in line to only be able to book 2 nights at a time is inconvenient. Also the area where the shows were performed would get crowded. Maybe moving some of those activities to a conference room with a stage would allow staff more room to perform and the guests more room to sit & enjoy the performances. Can't wait to come back again. Hoping to see everyone again in February 2023.…
Had the most amazing time with a group of girlfriends. The staff was more than hospitable and went out of their way to make sure we were having a god time! Thank you so much to Sergio Cano, Balta, Didier, Elliott, Victor Cahuich, AB, and Martin! Lovely gentleman and an all around perfect vacation experience ❤️
There are so many positives about our trip! The wait staff is absolutely phenomenal and go above and beyond every single day. The morning breakfast crew of Gerardo, Armando, Martin and Manuel were amazing and made breakfast fun every single day. By the pool Balta and C are the best and never had our drinks empty. Lemon fish was our favorite restaurant. You can make reservations up to 3 days in advance! The taco shop is fantastic as well!
All around amazing stay. This was our first time staying at this hotel and it was truly one-of-a-kind. Loved the atmosphere of luscious foliages inside & out, clean, friendly staff. Would definitely go back!
Paradisus Cancun This resort was spectacular. Our room was the Reserve Ocean View suite. Upon arrival we were directed to the Reserve area, which was in building 5. The Reserve check in was absolutely stunning. The relaxing music, the subtle smells of vanilla and lavender, the pools of running water, the hanging vines, the lanterns, all just a sensory delight. Check in took just a few minutes and we were escorted to our room by our concierge Jose. Jose made our dinner reservations for the week and said if we needed anything to let him know. Our room was just mere feet from the all day charcuterie board and bar. Julio made the perfect drinks. In the morning, there was a variety of fruits and breakfast snacks along with a coffee bar, juices and morning beverages, yes you could get a Mimosa or Bloody Mary. In the afternoon, this area has drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic as well as meats, cheeses, warm snacks and desserts. Room Our room was perfect for us. Upon entering, the bathroom was on the left. The bathroom had a single sink with hand soap and lotion, as well as a few other boxed amenities, which we never opened. To the left of the sink was the water closet, to the right of the sink was what can only be described as a shower room. The shower room included the large soaking tub and the rainfall shower. The shower had excellent water pressure, one of the best showers we have experienced at any resort. The shower room was all glass, separated by a somewhat sheer curtain, perfect for the ocean views and sunlight, but not perfect for privacy. The shower included Biology shampoo, condition and shower gel. To the right across from the bathroom was the closet that included a safe, ironing board and umbrella. The closet had a light that doubled as a night light to the bathroom when the room was dark. The room had a king sized bed that was a bit hard on my back, but a mattress topper was added, and it was very helpful. The room had a sitting area near the balcony as well as a table with 2 chairs. It was sparsely decorated, but comfortable. The morning sunrise with ocean views was incredible beyond words. Restaurants When staying in the Reserve area you have access to Sante. This is where we ate upon arrival. Sante turned out to be our favorite place for breakfast and lunch. The food was fantastic and had the perfect ocean views. The staff at Sante was very attentive and made sure we didn’t need a thing. Sante is located right by the adult-only reserve pool. The restaurants we’re beautiful. They all had a different decor that was reflective of the menu and style of cuisine. There were many options that could accommodate a variety of tastes. That said, while the service and menu options were always excellent, the execution of the meal itself was somewhat anticlimactic given the beauty and attention that surrounded you. The food wasn’t bad, but it just seemed to be less elevated than all the other sensory queues. When staying in the Reserve area, you had a one time access to Sal’s Steak house (this restaurant is an extra charge if not staying in the reserve). Like Sante, Sal’s was excellent, the quality and creativity of the food were elevated compared to the other restaurants. We also had the opportunity to dine at Ceilo, Aqua Marina, Lemon Fish and Cappella. There were 2 mornings we opted for Malva, the breakfast buffet. However, once we discovered Sante had breakfast, we never went back to the buffet. Sante was just superior. One “must”, is the Kanna Beach Club (food at this location is an extra charge). Upon entering there is a small bar with swings and multiple seating areas. We discovered this small, out of the way spot while exploring the resort after dinner on a warm evening. The location is nestled into the side of the hotel facing the shore with about a 10 to 15 foot drop to the sand. It’s almost like a deck built on the side of a cliff overlooking the ocean. The surroundings are very casual, we sat on a couch near a coffee table facing the ocean. That in itself was great, but the way the location as designed meant that there was very little light from the adjacent facilities, meaning the view of the stars was absolutely breathtaking. They seemed so close, and we just sat listening to the waves and marveling at the heavens. Words fail to describe the experience. Off Resort Dinner One of the great things about Mexico, and Cancun in particular, are all the off-resort options for excursions, dining and shopping. We always felt completely secure and didn’t feel the need to take any extra precautions beyond what we would normally do with a trip downtown in our home town. During this vacation we decided to explore dining options outside of the hotel. Our concierge helped us decide which options fit our taste and even made reservations for us at two nearby eateries, The Crab House and RosaNegra. Both of these were only a short walk from the resort so we didn’t need transportation. The Crab House was very good, specializing in seafood fare that went well beyond what you might normally expect in the US. It’s a bit pricey, but worth the extra money to dine on high quality ingredients while watching the sunset over the lagoon. Our second dining experience was really one of exploration and surprise. We arrived at RosaNegra and were escorted through a very busy restaurant by an army of young, chic attendants. Sitting at our table, we found it difficult to talk due to the surrounding noise. Some may like that kind of bustling environment, but we prefer something a little more subdued and less busy. For us, this just wasn’t the place, so we politely told our waiter that we were going to go find something a little less energetic. The next thing we knew, the manager arrived at our table, explaining that there were other dining options that would be a better fit just a short walk from where we were. She offered to take us. We were off! Instead of walking us back out of the restaurant, she escorted us to a boardwalk on the bay that led to an Italian restaurant called Parole. Apparently there are five different venues all connected and owned by the same company. Shocked at the beautifully lit paradise in the distance, we were completely intrigued by what lay ahead. We were warmly greeted and found a great table overlooking the lagoon. The menu was huge and included some really creative Italian favorites as well as some really nice wine options. I could go on about this experience but it was just what we were looking for. In short, the Wagu meatball is huge and excellent as were all the courses we enjoyed. Additionally, Parole had some fantastic entertainment that included an electric violinist and a painter. Yes, a painter (I won’t spoil the surprise.) I would highly recommend either of these as a great addition to the on-resort amenities. Evening Entertainment To be honest after dinner most evenings, we loved looking at the stars from the seating area at the Kanna Beach club. We did spend one evening at the Ginger bar. It had a band that played 80s music and were very good. However after long days in the sun, we were tired and ready to sleep by 2300. Spa One afternoon we spent at the spa. Left our phones in the room safe, (Believe it or not, lol). Upon arrival to the spa my husband and I were each escorted to the male/female dressing areas. Once undressed, we were given a robe and taken to the hydrotherapy area. Each dressing area had access to a steam room and dry sauna. After about 10 minutes, we were brought to a cool water shower area with a variety of water jets. We were lead to the hydrotherapy pool. It’s a cool water pool with various jets and sprays to relax your muscles. It was wonderful. Once you completed your time in the pool, you were offered water or green tea and had a few minutes to lounge on a couch before moving to the massage area. On our way to the massage area, we were escorted back through the dressing room and out into a public hallway area in our robes. This was a bit unnerving and did take away from the newly induced relaxation. The massage, for me, was a bit disappointing. The face pillows were very firm and I ended up with a headache by the time the massage completed. I was also disappointed because the therapist asked what area to focus on, which for me was neck, scalp and shoulders. Unfortunately, the therapist failed to really attend to those spots, spending most of the time on my legs and back. My husband also felt the face pillow was firm, but he managed to find a comfortable spot. His massage was focused on the lower back, and seemed better than mine. Overall it was a disappointing experience for me. Marching through a common hallway, pressed into a concrete face pillow and misaligned massage left it difficult to find a benefit from the therapy. Pool The adult reserve pool was nothing short of perfect. It was heated and always seemed just the right temperature. Surrounding the pool were Bali beds, complete with additional loungers for those times you wanted extra sun. Reserve guests are guaranteed a Bali bed for 2 days of your stay. Additional Bali bed access is granted via requesting placement on a waiting list. You may or may not get one depending on availability. We were lucky enough to have one every day of our stay. Go to the towel hut to coordinate Bali bed access. Jennifer and Nicole managed that amenity and were excellent, handling our requests and setting up our pool side oasis. Food and drink service is also available right from the bed. Valeria and Oscar were our pool-side concierges and they brought us drinks and food throughout out the day. They made sure we had an ice bucket filled with bottled water and seemed to effortlessly insure that anything you might need was already at your disposal. The food came from Sante so it was always excellent. One day we asked for a Bali bed over looking the ocean, this was not ideal as it was windy and a bit cold. The next day we chose to go back to our pool view Bali bed. The pool was perfect for floating on a raft and getting some sun. Special thanks to Nicole, Jennifer, Valeria and Oscar, they made sure we were comfortable, well fed and well hydrated! Beach Standing in surf up to my waist, i could see my feet resting on the white sand. The water was clear and magnificent. The waves were active and a bit rough for some, but I found it wonderful - an almost spiritual experience of the power, majesty and beauty of nature. The sand between the resort and edge of the water was not very long and the drop off to the ocean was steep. The sand was clean and soft, except for the occasional tuft of seaweed. Our daily routine included getting up and going to the coffee bar just outside of our room. We would have our coffee and watch the sunrise from our balcony. Then we would get dressed in our swim suits/coverup and go the Sante for a leisurely breakfast. After that we would make our way to the towel hut to talk with Jennifer or Nicole and find our Bali bed. We would alternate laying on a lounge chair for sun, swimming and then laying in our hut reading or napping. We also took random walks to the beach through out the day. Oscar and Valeria also made sure we didn’t skip any meals. We would return to our room in the afternoon, stopping at the Reserve charcuterie and bar before getting ready for dinner. After dinner we typically found our way out to Kanna beach club for drinks and stargazing. Overall this was resort speculator, from the sunrise views from our room, the food at Sante and the very attentive staff/concierge at the pool. Reserve is a must! …
Honestly, I read lots of good reviews on this place along with Rafael’s service. I’ve had some incredible sushi made by Japanese sushi chefs before. The sushi was overrated at this place. The rice reminded me of grocery store sushi in the US. Something very common in Mexican Sushi. Also, I grew up eating Mexican ceviche in Baja. I always thought that Mexican ceviche was the best until I ate Peruvian ceviche in Lima. Hands down, Peruvian ceviche is the best. The Peruvian ceviche in lemon fish is second rate, I’m sorry to say and the popcorn? Yes I said popcorn in the dish was a major head scratcher. Finally: the Lomo saltado (Peru’s signature dish), though very tasty at this restaurant, it was not Lomo Saltado. Can’t be lomo saltado if it doesn’t have potato’s, white rice and grilled onion. Lemon fish should not name that dish Lomo Saltado. Name it something else, because it is good but it is NOT Lomo Saltado. From all the reviews I read, I’ll tell you that Lemon Fish is overrated but Rafael’s service and attention to detail is not! Great server!…
We had the best vacation here. The staff was amazing and the food was good, even the buffet. Will be back again! Kids enjoyed the escape room on a rainy day. Our favorite food was the Italian restaurant but lemonfish was also yummy. Come say hi to Rafael!
Cecilia was amazing!!! Catered to all our needs! Love all her suggestions! Would go back anytime. She anticipated all our needs and made us the best cocktails. She showed us alternate ways and made our stay amazing. She made our visit so great and I hope I meet her I. The future.
