The overall experience was horrible, I wish I could get a refund. The checking in process took 2 hours … and that was for a wristband then another hour to check in. Then small bugs were all around our headboards. The only thing I enjoyed was the bar. The food was horrible at every restaurant except Mexican
I absolutely recommend this resort!! I traveled with my wife and 2 adult children and we had an amazing trip. On day one we arrived early and were given a place to change and full use of all facilities and restaurants and we were able to get into our rooms early. Although day 2 brought a hurricane, the staff did everything in their power to ensure that even though we were stuck inside, we had a great time. We awoke on day 3 to find a resort that showed no signs of a hurricane just one day earlier. While there were no negatives about this resort and everyone we came in contact with was friendly and pleasant and I wish I could mention them all by name, special thanks go out to Alex and Alex from the entertainment crew although they were all excellent and Augustin and Eddie in the Mexican restaurant who went out of their way to make us feel like their number one customer.…
I have to say that the occidental resort wouldn’t be my first choice to return when booking a vacation. The price is definitely what you get. Checkin itself is at least minimum 30 -45 minutes per party. The front desk definitely needs a better system when it comes to checking in guests and assisting other guests because multitasking doesn’t seem to be their strong suit. The food at the restaurants are decent, but definitely not the best. The waiters seemed to be sarcastic for the most part, which if you had the wrong guest it might not be the best outcome. The drink girls were probably the best thing about the entire resort, they were attentive and very helpful. During your first day if you want to go to a restaurant, you won’t be able to because you need to reserve a restaurant at 7:30am and checkin in is at 3pm. So that immediately doesn’t make sense, but you can go to the buffet. The snack bar is 24/7, but the food is pretty stale or just bland. I enjoyed the pool and the girls they had for games and activities. The beach front they have is quite small, so you might as well go to the pool. Sad to say I probably wouldn’t book here again.…
First off, the lines for checking in we’re ridiculous!! I had to stand in line twice, once for wrist bands then once for checking in. Then when we arrived we were told we could not eat because you have to make reservations for dinner at 7am… Well how could we do that if check in is at 3. So we had no food to eat that day. The room was clean for the most part, despite the little bugs that were by the bed. The food was nasty.. Mexican is the only restaurant that has fairly decent food but it’s so hard to book because everyone knows that all the other food is nasty! This was my first time in Mexico and I honestly wish I had stayed at a different hotel!
The beach is very small. A lot of seaweed. You MUST wear beach shoes if you want to walk into the sea. Some of the rooms are really worn down. Only one restaruant is good - MEXICAN. Italian and Seafood is not that great. Drinks are so-so. Some drinks are not taste good. And if you order a drink, make sure its in the glass. Drinks in plastic cup doesn't taste very well. TO make a reservation for the restaurant every day, you must do it at 7:30 AM, so you have to get up at least at 7 AM.
Pros Pool area Bars (very efficient service, lengthy menu, although the drinks are a bit watery. At least takes more to get drunk 🥴) Room has a good size Room cleaning service. Very reliable and efficient Cons Beach too small and surrounded by boats and bad fuel smell. Port area. Not a pleasant place to be. The shared photos don't depict that. Very disappointing when you are in a beach paradise. Be aware of that If beach is an important aspect of your stay. Check in process completely inneficient. Takes 30 min per guest and then you see the lines forming all the time. My room was not ready when I checked in and they wanted me to wait again in a huge line only to take the keys. It is not what I call customer orientation (or efficiency at all) They have 4 restaurants but only one doesn't require reservation for dinner (only from 7:30 AM to 9:30 each day. Not possible on the day you arrive or when you do some early morning trip ). Then you see several tables free and the buffet with a huge line. Again inneficient processes which leads to customer dissatisfaction. A virtual queue service instead would work much better Animation crew could be better. They had a special talent to stop the activities when they were getting fun. Not even ambient music was on all the time There is no AC in the lobby. It gets very hot there Renovation work in the surrounding started before 6 AM. Really noisy. Wi-Fi is terrible. It varies from 9 Mb to unusable throughout the day. Cannot be relied upon. They have smart TV in the room, what is great, but useless because of the Wi-Fi quality…
We have been to Mexico countless times, I've never experienced an all inclusive hotel like this one. We were only there for one night due to us flying out the next day and us spending a week in PDC first. We brought our teenager daughter, niece and nephew. We wanted to show them how cool all inclusives are since we have been to many in the past. This one we had to wait in line for almost an hour as they only had 3 people checking everyone in (understand everywhere is short staffed, not that wasn't too bad) once we checked in we asked about food as we were all starving. The lady said you can do the buffett, and I said we'll your website states 4 restaurants and she said no those require reservations and you had to be here at 7am to make those?! I asked how was that possible when we couldn't check in til 3 and it wasn't noted anywhere on the website that. She said it wasn't her problem. She said we have a snack bar upstairs and buffet. We were frustrated cause we've never had that issue at any of the all inclusives we have gone too. We got to the room and one bed was super lumpy. My niece just slept on the floor she said it was so bad. The towels had stains on them. We went to the beffett and the food was cold. Tried the snack bar and it was EMPTY! We ended up just going out to eat. It was disappointing and sad that that was the first experience the kids had, but we just know we won't go back to that one. I've never written a bad review before, but this place should have clearer restaurant information and the staff could be was nicer and helpful. …
I loved how friendly the staff were. Everyone was super nice and kind and went the extra mile to make sure that you were satisfied. The pool area was kept super clean and they served you drinks while you were in the pool which was super cool. I wish the buffet had more vegetarian options to choose from. A lot of the buffet consists of meat.
The hotel was great! This trip was booked a bit last minute and it turned out better than expected. The hotel was clean, the staff was friendly. The sea view was amazing and my favorite spot during the stay!
Arrived at 3:45, didn't get checked in until 6pm due to long line and only 1 receptionist working. Tried to give us a room other than what was advertised (had to walk far to 3 different rooms first that were substandard before getting the room we paid for). Drinks were watered down, and the same activities daily. Worst part was having to wake up at 7am daily to make in person reservations for dinner daily, so couldn't get any rest each morning. Horribly managed, however, the staff was friendly. Only plus side was that the hotel is very clean. Other than that, don't waste your money here.
