Iberostar Coral Level We LOVE adults-only resorts. It's the only way to travel. We did a lot of research looking for the best in Cancun. We read endless reviews, looked at dozens of websites and finally settled on the Coral Level at Iberostar. We flew in December from Colorado Springs. Masks on the plane, anxiety, the whole she-bang. When we got there, all our worries washed away. The Room: The Coral Level is the adults-only section of the Iberostar resort. You have access to the whole resort, but your room, pool and beach area are private. Our room was modern, updated, and super clean. But it was the view from the balcony that stole the show. The ocean views were amazing, and we spent a lot of time out there. There is even a jacuzzi tub so you can soak while you watch the water. We had a little runaway bubble fiasco on a particularly windy day, but it made for a great story. The Beach: Absolutely stunning crystal-clear teal water. The waves were calm the first day we arrived which allowed us to float around in the sun like drunk otters. Later in the week the waves got HUGE which made for more thrilling ocean play. There are first come first serve cabanas on the beach that are wonderful to lay in ALL day. Servers come around often for all your drink and food needs. Get up early to snag one close to the water…we got up at 9am (early in vacation time) and they were all full. Even with the hotel at limited capacity. The Pool: The pool is a beautiful infinity pool right on the beach so you can still watch the ocean. The water is cold, but Mexico is hot, so it was fabulous. The swim up bar was closed but they still had MTV-style poolside activities like a drinking contest, which was amusing to watch. You also have access to the multiple pools on the family side. Entertainment: Every single night in each bar area, there was some kind of entertainment be it a Selena impersonator, a DJ, or an amazing electric violinist. COVID: Same rules as back in the USA. Masks indoors and until you take your seat at a restaurant. I saw staff cleaning and sanitizing constantly. We felt very safe. The Food: Ok. There is a reason I saved this one for last. The food was…ok. Everything we ate was just ok. Not horrible but not great. The food was much better in Cabo. There’s room service. There are poolside grills. There are two buffets on the resort which are modified for Covid, and several restaurants on the family side. They fill up FAST with the Covid restrictions so you MUST make a reservation in advance. We tried them all and they were all kind of meh. We spoke to other guests who agreed. The best BY FAR was the Japanese restaurant. If you can get in. Overall, we had a great time. We felt that the service and beauty of the hotel made it worth the trip. Thank you Iberostar Coral Level for an excellent escape!…
Our stay at The Coral Level was absolutely fabulous! From the moment we checked in we were treated with respect and in a friendly matter by all resort employees. They showed how much they cared about making the guest feel special. I want to mention one employee in particular, his name was Albin and he worked in entertainment. He was the best! His attention to detail was second to none, always striking a friendly conversation and keeping us updated on all resort activities. If you are looking for great food, an adult only environment, beautiful and modern decor, great entertainment options, best DJ in town, the best rooms in Cancun and top notch service, Coral Level is the place to be. I would definitely come back next time I visit Cancun.
This is definitely best views in Cancun, beach is clean and miles long to walk and swim on. Customer service over the top. Paola at the pool is top notch!! Resort is in a great location only 25 min from airport. Covid conscience and food is excellent!!
You have to see the beauty of this resort for yourself, my words alone won't do it justice. The Coral Level is fresh and modern. The resort spared no expense on the astestics of this place. Pros: Beach is clean and beautiful Rooms are modern and spacious All rooms are ocean view Friendly hotel staff with NO sales pitch Cons: The food selection is average with exception to Breakfast Ocean waves are rough in this area, alot of rocks at entry to water. This was disheartening bc I enjoy calmer waters There is one pool on this side of the resort. My overall experience at this resort was above average.
This is the second time I am posting this review. Somehow my first one was deleted, unsure if this was deleted by Tripadvisor or The Iberostar. The Coral Level concept is a flop – far from 5 stars, overrated and certainly overpriced. If you want to relax, be able to lose track of time and not worry about mealtimes, go anywhere else but here. If you do not want to have to look for anything -- breakfast, coffee, sealed bottled water or a place to go for dinner, go anywhere else but here. Truthfully, this resort would only be 5 stars to anyone who hasn’t experienced a true 5 star property. Please note that this review has nothing to do with enhanced Covid 19 measurements. Since hotels have adopted the required changes, we (my longtime boyfriend and I) have been to Dreams Vista Cancun (5 stars), TRS Coral (5 stars), The Reef Playacar (3 stars-3.5 stars) and Panama Jack Playa Del Carmen (4 stars, that I would personally rate as 5 stars). Now on to The Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Cancun, which is supposedly a 5 star resort. This was formerly Star Prestige and recently rebranded, opened as Coral Level in 2018. The building: The Coral Level is an ocean front building to the left of Iberostar Selection Cancun. The cool, perfumed lobby is a fake-out, the property seems like a 5 star from here but it's not. Yes, the look of the lobby and pool area are visually pleasing but all in all the decor is on par with any newer 4+ star property in the Riviera Maya. Do not mistake the credit meant for the aqua blue water of Cancun to be meant for Coral Level. OTW to the rooms/the room: • The elevators look like freight elevators • The hallways look run down • No coffee makers in the room • Water is in two recyclable bottles (you have to call room service or guest service to get these refilled and though we were told there were refilling stations, we never found one) • The tiny "fridge" has the sorry-est selection of beverages (3 beers and 3 sodas, that's all the "cool box" which didn’t keep cool could fit) • Side note: lots about this hotel is inconsistent -- on one hand eco friendly, on the other hand, takes too perks away from guests and claim it's due to Covid 19 measurement but actually feels like revenue driven decisions • The room smells damp • The AC is weak • You will want to request more pillows • The look of the room is overly sterile • No welcome fruit, chocolate, wine or anything (no "thank you" at all for trusting them with your precious vacation) • Very basic bathroom amenities -- none of the extra amenities you'd normally find at a 5 star (no hand sanitizer, which I thought was a Covid 19 requirement, no ear swabs, no sunblock, nothing extra outside of shampoo, conditioner and soap -- even if the Coral Level is aiming for eco-friendly, why not at least have a welcome kit that is only replenished upon request) • No beach towels in the room • No welcome cocktail or cool towel upon arrival (rushed, info-lacking check in) The food: The 24 hour room service is a complete joke. No coffee, no juices, no breakfast items. There are only a couple terrible wraps, burgers and pizza. *The overall food quality throughout this hotel is not good. Btw, the room service menu is the same as the 1 snack bar on the Coral Level property (again, not good, maybe besides the fries). The 1 small buffet at Coral Level is an optical illusion. Looks like there's a fair variety of items but upon a closer look, it's mainly bread spread out, cheese spread out, salads spread out and salami spread out. I have to mention that we tried 3 chicken dishes at the buffet, all were a strange texture. Also, good luck getting reservations for dinner. The one reservation we finally got happened because we complained. It was at the steakhouse. Steaks were good. Sides were not. *Fries here were the same as room service and the snack bar. The bars: The lobby bar/cafe is good but on vacation I don't want to have to get dressed and take an elevator to get coffee. They also hide the better brands of liquor and/or say they've ran out. The pool bar is closed. Why can't this be open with every other seat blocked? The hotel is at 30% capacity anyway. Plus, people sat along the pool bar and the poolside waiters/waitresses needed to go into the pool bar well to serve drinks anyway, causing the same “crowding”. By the way, while sharing feedback right before checkout, we were told that we could get breakfast delivered upon request to the room, lies. We were also told that we could get a coffee maker set up in the room, also a joke. In short, we got neither breakfast nor a coffee maker in our room, which we had asked for during our stay. Last comments, reception asked if we were celebrating anything special upon check-in, it was the second half of my birthday trip, not only was it ignored, the experience at Iberostar soured our trip overall. Also, when I asked what makes Coral Level special (whether it be services or what have you), the answer I got was that the building was newer than the rest of Iberostar Selection Cancun. This is laughable because the rate for Coral Level is so ridiculous for nothing. This conversation was with the hotel director. We were only offered an upgrade voucher for our next visit, this is after I took the time share my feedback and disappointment. An upgrade voucher? That is equals to asking me to spend again what we already regret investing in the Coral Level, only to get a “better” room. (the rooms at Coral Level look almost identical, no matter the category, unless you have a rooftop room. Even so, the main difference is a small plunge pool vs a large tub on your balcony). I could go on forever but this is long enough. I will say, the staff is nice and lovely (despite most of the reception team seeming green and unfamiliar with the property). The Cancun beach is truly 5 stars, though the Coral Level resort experience feels 3 stars at very best. However, for the experience I/we had, plus again considering the price point for this hotel, I have to give this place 1 star (actually 0, if I could). I hope you do not make the same mistake I/we did by choosing this resort. There are many, many resorts up and down the Riviera Maya, at much better rates, actually offering the 5 star experience that this place claims to provide. Recs for 5+ stars: Preferred at Dreams Tulum, Preferred at Dreams Vista Cancun, TRS Coral Recs for 4+ stars: Privilege at Ocean Riviera Paradise, Platinum at any Princess resort, Panama Jack Resorts Recs for 3+ stars: The Reef Playacar, The Royal Solaris Cancun…
