Detailed Reviews
We had a 3 night stay at this hotel in a superior room. There were lovely little touches such as make up remover pads, robes, slippers and water. The bed was very comfortable, the room was very spacious and there was a separate toilet as well as one in the large bathroom and a jacuzzi bath.
Two things to note:
The location of the hotel is beside the Palmer slope which plays loud music all day and hosts the weekly ‘instructors show’ where the noise from the show and subsequent clear up lasts until midnight and this can be bothersome if you are an early to bed person
The hotel restaurant serves high end fare, predominantly fish and possibly not what you want after a long day travelling but there are pasta/pizza places in town, 10 mins walk away
The staff are friendly but don’t overly engage with their guests. The breakfast is adequate but no more than that.
The food in the hotel restaurant was a little pretentious but if that’s your thing then ok but personally on an active outdoor break, hearty traditional Italian food is what I’m after.

This was by far the best hotel we booked in Italy during our vacation.
It's around 10 minutes walking to the city centre.
Since we came by bus, they gave us a bus card to use local transportation. At the hotel, you have access to the city pool (indoor and outdoor), a jacuzzi outside and a wellness centre with sauna, whirlpool, gym, etc. There is even a play area for kids and a pool table.
The breakfast is splendid with cheese, bread, an espresso machine, juice, tea, fruits, jam, nuts, cold cuts, cereals, yogurt, scrambled eggs and bacon. The view from the windows at breakfast is just splendid.
I think every room has a balcony. The view was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. The room had a television, a safe and a mini-fridge. It said you have to pay 5 € per day to use the fridge though.
If it wasn't enough, the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Monica at the help desk gave us advice for hiking every single day with details about the trails around the city and in the area.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant stay in Ortisei.

We found the hotel to be great during our stay. The lady at the front desk was very helpful, giving us maps and advice for the surrounding area. As part of your stay you get free access to the neighbouring swimming pool, which has both indoor and outdoor pools that are great. We also visited the restaurant one night which was really good, pricey but they catered well for coeliac/gluten free. The hotel was quiet and felt very safe, good parking and very handy for getting into town.

Pros: lovely surroundings and views from the property. Our Standard Double room was a good size, with space to hang and put away your clothes, and it was nicely decorated. We had a large balcony with 2 chairs. The building is pretty and there is a restaurant and bar on site. Cons: front desk staff didn't seem interested in being helpful. The biggest issue for me, which may not bother most people, was that they used such strongly scented/perfumed cleaning products and/or air freshener throughout the entire building and in the rooms. Just a heads-up if you happen to be sensitive to this, as it made the stay really unpleasant for me. I'm guessing they didn't have any way to control it for individual rooms, because I mentioned it, and it never subsided over the 2 nights we were there.

It was a lovely hotel where service was very good. The front desk lady was very informational and gave us so many advice without us prompting. Was initially worried about the bugs (seen in earlier wrong review by someone else), but this was unfounded. Room was very clean and we slept very well too as there wasn’t any noise. The outdoor hot tub is heaven when after a hot day hike in the Dolomites. Would love to stay here again if ever we come back. Maybe they can change the buffet breakfast slightly as it gets a bit bored after 3 days…

We stayed 4 nights in the Hotel. The facilities are very nice, the room is awesome. But some staff members aren't friendly at all. Maria in the reception does not smile at all, in our arrival she makes us feel uneasy and also didn't help or ask if we need help when she saw us have a hard time with our luggage. In the breakfast room, the two girls were looking like "hell", they were surveilling us and not serving us... also they don't know how to smile, making us feel very uneasy also. We even joke between us, that the hotel was totally "hell". Just the people from the kitchen were friendly when crossing us. And we know about services, because we worked for year in 5 stars hotels in Paris.

Response from Giorgio Chiodi, Proprietario at Hotel Hell
Responded 30 Dec 2023
Dear Mr. Tiago Negrao Paladini. First of all, we thank you very much for your stay in our hotel. In reference to your comments, we would like to point out that what you indicated is not true. Our receptionist Mariia is the nicest person in the hotel. She explained everything to you about the hotel and the facilities during check-in, even gave you a much larger room, than the one you had booked, for free before the official check-in since you have a large family and she wanted to gave you some more privacy. Yes, she did not speak French and it was very difficult to explain something , since you spoke only french and just a little English. Mariia speaks 5 languages and unfortunately French is not one of them. Your room was always cleaned properly and one of the first, as you were with the children ad we understand how importand is for you. Whenever you need the slides, we provided them for free with no time limit. We are sorry that you had a negative impression of the hotel stuff, If you didn't saw sometimes smile, it doesn't mean they were rude, they were busy providing you with a fresh, full breakfast. We tried to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Best regards, hotel Manager

Beautiful hotel, well located, the 2 people at reception very friendly but…
- Deplorable breakfast for a 4*. Empty dishes and refilled 30 minutes later, very little choice. You have to beg for bread, croissant, fruit juice, etc.
- Pitiful service. 2 phlegmatic, annoyed waiters, bordering on politeness
Enough to spoil your stay and forget the charm of the hotel, especially when you pay €400/night.
There are so many other hotels in Ortisei that I don't recommend taking the risk.

We loved our stay here. Our room was very spacious and clean, the breakfast was excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful and we liked having the use of a pool table. Some rooms have a better view to the mountains while ours overlooked the parking lot and pool complex next door. We thought the price was really reasonable for an expensive area. I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Hotel hell and Maria were amazing. Rooms were big with heated towel racks, vented windows, and huge balcony. Loved the shuttle to other slopes but also ski in ski out right out the back door. Restaurant and bar were good value and high service. Wish hot tub was warmer and being used but service a short walk away. Closed at 9 not 8

This was a great place to stay in Ortesei. We liked that it wasn’t in the center of town but only a 5 minute walk there. Our view of the grassy hillside was so peaceful. The jacuzzi was an added bonus. Breakfast had a great variety and was tasty. Our bed was a bit too firm for me and they brought up a foam pillow topper immediately. Slept great!
Highly recommend this place.
