Very friendly, humorous and knowledgeable hosts. Best breakfast ever. Absolutely recommendable. Kids friendly. Dont bother staying in quebec city, go straight to wendake. Apart from la huronniere there are good restaurants and a really interesting huron first nation museum.
We were very lucky to find Claire and Yves' B&B. We were enchanted by Claire's warm welcome, the most comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast catered to our various allergies to gluten and dairy. The house is walking distance from many of the Wendake attractions, museum, traditional site, town, etc. The house is a true gem, displaying a large number of first nations' artifacts. There is a delightful pool in the back. The host is extremely helpful with any directions and questions. All in all it was one of our best experiences from this vacation to Canada.
La Huronniere is a nice home, with nicely decorated and equipped guest rooms in its basement. I would categoriza it as a B&B. We arrived on an afternoon where Claire, our host, was out for an errand but nevertheless her door is open and there was a phone we could use to ensure she knew we were in! She immediately answered and was extremely apologetic but there were no issues, as she told us to proceed downstairs and pick the room we most liked! The rooms are all very nice and have all you need: comfortable beds, a sofa bed, spacious private bathrooms with tons of towels, soap(s), hairdryer. They also have a small window that can be opened if needed. We were there on occasion of the annual Wendake Powwow but the place is really close to Quebec and hikes, so you can make this a nice stay, in any occasion. Claire's breakfast (at any time you like, better if not too early and we liked that being on vacation!) was amazing with her own homade concoctions that varied everyday. If you are VERY private, this is not your place: you are in someone's house although your room is yours only. Everything is safe and secure but there is no key to your room, so if you are particular about that, you cannot lock your room (the door closed, but doesn't lock!)…
Claire is a wonderful host; warm, welcoming and always ready to offer advice about local attractions. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. We arrived at a very difficult time due to a sudden illness in her family, but Claire always made us feel welcome and well cared for. Advice about what to see, where to eat and where to park in Quebec City was invaluable. Without it, we would never have found Canyon Ste.-Anne, which turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Claire, nous vous remercions. A la prochaine ! - Fred et Linda
This comfortable B&B is located in the community of Wendake within walking distance of the main attractions. Claire proved the ideal host for anyone interested in the area's history, served a superb breakfast, and even tracked me down later in the day to return something I had left behind. I hope to return, and recommend highly.
