Our original accommodation booking at Dunstanburgh Castle Hotel was cancelled an hour out from our arrival at the venue, due to a power failure in the aftermath of Storm Arwen. Disappointed, weary from the long journey and nowhere to go in the snow storm, my wife began searching online and came across Radcliffe's Lodge and booked us a room. From the moment we walked into the Lodge, All I can say is wow, wow, wow! what a lovely place. From the comfortable room to the awesome views over the yacht basin and up the river, to the comfortable modernised amenities, to the refined and tasteful décor as well as the super friendly and accommodating staff - wow! What was meant to be a one-night-stay turned into a 5 star birthday celebration venue for 5 days and our future holiday go-to. We explored the local town and surrounds, restaurants and eateries including all the castles as far as Holy Island to our hearts content and returned each evening to the luxury and comfort of Radcliffes Lodge. We have highly recommended it to family and friends and look forward to booking in for our next break in the new year and beyond.

What a find! This modern sleek lodge is a boutique hostel. The views from the lounge and family rooms are breathtaking. The communal.area is great, the kitchen looks brand new and is kitted out to a very high standard. Tony friendly and welcoming and even remembered our names. I can't say enough good things about it.

Arrived the night after storm Arwen with our 10 month old baby and cocker spaniel after losing power. We had the most wonderful 10 night stay and were made to feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Great facilities, super clean and tidy, well laid out with amazing views. We really enjoyed the space on the first floor and been able to walk into amble for fresh sea food. My parents joined us half way through our stay and were equally impressed. Highly recommend and ideal with a dog and children, far more freedom than a hotel but without loosing the high quality service or fit and finish. Just perfect...

An absolutely wonderful stay! I arrived the night storm Arwen arrived, I stayed in a 4 bed bunk room and enjoyed all the facilities this hostel provides, in total comfort. The owner was amazing, a warm welcome included fresh scones!! I was invited to come and go the next day due to the weather conditions ..... so kind. The comfort and quality of all the communal area was exemplary and the location perfectly beautiful. I’ve never experienced a hostel of this quality before and I have been in many!!

We just stayed one night but fell in love with Radcliffe’s Lodge. Our room was fabulous, we had our dog with us so chose the 4 person room on the ground floor with our own terrace. The bed was super comfortable and the shower room excellent. The communal lounge and the kitchens were well designed and equipped. Most importantly, the reception and staff welcome was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and they had excellent local knowledge. We were even blessed with fabulous weather.
