Stayed at the reef for five nights in August with my wife and two pre-teen kids. All in all it was a great trip! Getting in and out of the Bahamas was no sweat. Everybody took Covid protocols seriously. Our suite was spacious, comfortable and cleaned every day. The staff was cordial, if not overly friendly, and thoroughly professional. The location was amazing -- the beach is incredible. The Reef is tucked out of the way in the corner of the park, so you have to walk a bit of the way to everything. The upside is the beach and pools don't get overcrowded. If you are going to Atlantis I would say spend extra for a suite and take a taxi to the grocery store to make as many of your own meals as possible. You will come out ahead, as even very simple meals like burgers and fries for lunch will run a family of four $90. There are two grocery stores in town and the Taxis will bring you there and back for around $70 with fare plus tip. We made all of our breakfasts and most of our lunches in our room and it was great. Our room had everything you need for simple meals plus a Keurig that room service stocked up with three Starbucks pods a day. Also, there is a liquor store just off the property in walking distance where you can stock up. Is the food on the premises too pricey? I don't think so - you are paying a premium because it is on the resort plus you are on an island, so everything is more expensive. And you are on vacation - vacation is expensive. That said: be prepared to spend another $1,000 on food or drinks alone if you stay for the better part of a week. It's all cashless too, so your spending can get easily out of control. Two other suggestions: Hit up karaoke night - it's a blast. Movie nights and bingo are great too, though the MC isn't that great. She kind of phoned it in when she did bingo at the Cove pool, though she did a much better job at the big pool. Avoid the Dolphin cove thing - it's super expensive, kind of lame and they don't let you take your own pictures, which is nuts and some nickel & dime BS. They push their on-site snorkeling, which looks cool but is prohibitively expensive. But they also contract with an amazing boat crew that will take you snorkeling, scuba or snuba diving off the tip of the island. I highly recommend that - it's much more affordable and the crew is top-notch. It's not every day and you have to ask about it. They took us out to check out a shipwreck - one of the coolest things ever. Also, right now is a great time to visit because the cruise lines are running slow, so the park isn't really that busy. The park gets jampacked during cruise season because boat passengers buy day passes to visit the park. Bottom line: I'd highly recommend. Just be braced for a little sticker shock at mealtime, though you can work around that.

Just finished our trip to the Reef/Atlantis. While you do need to pay attention to the travel protocols, once you get there, the place is amazing. Traveling this time of year and during COVID-times, it felt like we had the place to ourselves. While not every slide was open every day (which I thought would be a problem), we never ran out of things to do and never even left the property. We did eventually get to ride all the slides (as many times as we wanted), and snorkel the lagoon, and get plenty of beach time. Also, some comments below talk about rude staff…disregard them. True, out of the 100+ staff members we interacted with, perhaps a couple were having an off day (not rude, just not as engaging), but the vast majority were friendly and helpful with many going over the top to be friendly and welcoming. Food may be a tad expensive, but here are just a couple tips. If you have a room with a refrigerator, go to carmine’s on night 1….you will leave with plenty of leftovers for a lunch or two. Also, the loaded nachos by the pool can easily feed a family of 4 for $22. So go and enjoy, you won’t regret it

The Reef at Atlantis is a nice hotel with a small kitchen. Everything is over priced and there is 17% extra added on to all purchased items. 12% Vat and 5% for tips. You can take the shuttle bus to Marina and walk to grocery store. I did this to buy water as the water in hotel has an odor. There were no lines for the rides which was a plus. Every meal when bought within the hotel was an $120 so if you multiple by 3 it gets alittle pricey. I have no problem paying that if the food is worth it not chicken fingers and french fries. I ordered 2 drinks for my wife and I $32, I thought i was in Manhattan. This may seem like I am a cheap person but I believe in getting what you pay for. The beaches are great with very little rocks and seawwed. The kids loves the Dig(aquarium). I lost some money in the casino but that was all fun and games, its expected. The rooms are all carpeted which is the only problem as I found a fish hook in the carpet and small piece of metal. I searched the carpet after my son got a cut on his heel and he didn't know how he got it. Everything was open except one restaurant and the walk through tunnel with the sharks was under repair. There are many pools to explore. My opinion is the Reef @Atlantis is ok but I will not be returning.

My daughter and I have just returned from the Atlantis Bahamas staying in The Reef . We became unwell whilst there and we would like to thank all the staff and management for taking good care of us with nothing that was too much trouble . A big thank you to our housekeeper Anika who was a joy. We have been going to the Atlantis for 20 years and have seen it grow into a special place so keep up all the good work as these trying times for us all is a challenge in itself.
