#8 of 15 hotels in Paradise Island
The Cove at Atlantis is elegantly situated between Cove and Paradise Beaches on Paradise Island in the Bahamas creating the feeling of being cast away on a private, white-sand sanctuary. The ultra-luxury 5-star hotel was designed by architect Jeffrey Beers to bring high design together with the bluest ocean and mother of pearl hued sand. The result is an open air lobby that rises and sets with the day, an exclusive poolscape that gently skims the private beaches, stunning and sensual rooms and suites, a collection of unparalleled dining and shopping and purposeful service delivered with Bahamian warmth.

I stayed at the Cove at Atlantis for 7 days in July on vacation. Let me begin with the absolute best part of the trip - the staff who worked Security and the pool area. I would like to personally thank Naomi, Kayla, Uriah, Ajené, Cameel and Shedrick for such an amazing time. Not only did they provide stellar service, but they went out of their way to ensure that I had the most fun possible on my trip. I also want to thank Monica (Security); I had a minor accident and she took personal care of me from start to finish, even calling my room each day to check up on me. Cephas (shuttle driver) went out of his way to wait for me when I went to get my COVID-19 test, so that I didn’t have to walk a long way back or wait a long time. All of these colleagues are 5* top notch and would fit in at any premium property around the world. I hope management sees this and recognizes them. I also want to thank Leotis and Troy for great service during dinner and for excellent food and beverage recommendations. The room I had was large and well-appointed, and housekeeping kept it spotless (thank you!). The property itself is nicely appointed, though showing some wear in certain places. My biggest challenge is that given the cost of both the room and the food/beverage options, I would expect for front desk/customer care to be better. My experience upon check-in was almost downright rude. My room was not available (even though it was the stated time), and I was not sent a message or text when it was ready. I had to wait in a line for 30 minutes to eventually get my key. A manager was walking around providing drinks to people instead of opening up a third line for check-in. When I asked about extending my stay, I was adamantly told no rooms were available for me, even though I showed the employee both the Marriott and the Atlantis website stating otherwise. I have never had a hotel try so hard to discourage me from staying there longer. I had just arrived, so it was not as if I had been a problem guest. The customer service button on the phones in the room is a joke. Every single time I called, no one answered. One day, just for fun, I kept sitting on hold. After 20 minutes of Muzak, I gave up. The only button that was ever answered was Room Service (which was timely and good food). I made a request to the front desk one evening (the 15th) before dinner, related directly to the injury I had received on property. The front desk agent was rude and surly about it. When I returned from dinner 3 hours later, the request had not been fulfilled. I tried to call, and got no answer. I walked back down to the front desk, and it took 10 minutes of arguing and me asking for a manager to get the simpler request filled. What was it you ask? I wanted vinegar, as prescribed by the on-site clinic, to treat my sea urchin sting. When the vinegar arrived, I was charged $15 for it! (I did have this charge removed at check out). Finally, there are fantastic restaurants on-site but they are impossible to get into. You have to reserve months in advance, which is kind of unfair to travelers who make decisions to arrive maybe just a month or two before. It is also not made clear when you book that you need to rush to make dining reservations. For first time visitors especially, this is frustrating because it is difficult to know when/where you want to eat if you haven’t experienced the property. It is this kind of experience that causes me not to list the property with 5 stars. If the entire property was run by the team at the Cove pool, this would be an improvement for sure. I will most likely return, as it is a beautiful and fun location. But I would really hope that the customer service gets better especially given the really high pricing involved. Thank you again to the stellar colleagues mentioned above - you 100% made my trip and you will 100% be the reason I will return.

Hotel's Favourite
The Cove is an amazing resort with breathtaking views. It’s truly relaxing with island breezes going throughout the property. The decor and ambience throughout is exactly the type of hotel I love when we are vacationing. This is now our favorite resort... we’ve been to many high end resorts worldwide. We were fortunate to meet Nasette who is the director of VIP services who made our stay a memorable and luxurious experience. We had a minor glitch checking in which was remedied very quickly. From then on it was amazing. Nasette checked on us everyday, almost like having a personal concierge. The rooms and bathroom are large, so wonderful to see the ocean views upon waking up. Yes, the restaurants are a little pricey but definitely worth checking out. Our prices are similar to home so not a big deal. The staff was very friendly and welcoming! My thing is if you’re friendly to the staff they will reciprocate ten times fold . We had lunch at poolside SIPSIP, fun vibe with music in the background. Dinner at Fish was very good... get the scallops. We went mostly for lunch and dinner at the Marina Village, take the shuttle there. Carmines was great and also Seafire. Keep in mind the portions are big so you can share the entree. Also try the Fish Market for authentic food. Take a snorkeling and sailing tour at Seahorse. Very relaxing sailing along the bay. All in all a great vacation and hated to leave. Pick the Cove for a more luxurious and more secluded hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the other hotels nearby.

The Cove is heaven! We selected it because we knew there was an adult-only pool and our 'kids' are early 20's so we figured this would be the best fit. There is a casino outside near the adult pool. I didn't love having to wear a mask but I totally respect that as did only about half the guests...Our suite was gorgeous with a view of one of the pools and the beach. The pools and beach were all lovely, after being on an excursion a few mornings - getting a seat was tricky. We tipped the pool and beach staff so that helped get an umbrella seat. We grabbed a quick breakfast from the Sea Glass Lounge all days but one, we did room service our last morning. Breakfast food good all around. The lunchtime food at the Cove leaves a bit to be desired. Sip Sip was ok - not a huge menu but we loved sitting outside. Cascades is more fast food, and for the price not worth it. The drinks all throughout the Atlantis, as I'm sure you know by reading reviews, are about 20 bucks each. We knew we were on this vacation once in a life time so we tried not to worry about cost. We will not return only because we live on teacher's salaries so this is not the place to keep going to, unfortunately. It was paradise and the staff were so incredible. The elevators were fast, the resort spotless, the covid testing at the Cove was quick, room service spot on each day.... The shuttle runs so often that we never waited more than 5 minutes. We walked to the water park area and spent hours there. Even with our adult children - they loved all the slides and so did we. The lines were not long, a bit for the Leap of Faith but so worth it - you gotta do it if you can! The Cove also has a big fitness center, and outside of it there is a lap pool. I used it early one morning and it was great! The night time was way too quiet for us. I'm not sure why there is no swimming in any of the pools after 7:00. Could it be covid? Would have loved to swim after dinner, and wished there was an outdoor night bar with music. We did go to the Casino at the Royal at night which was fun. We had dinner in the Marina Village often, and one night we took a cab to De Fish Fry which is authentic Bahamian food. We were pretty much the only people not from the island there, and we were appproached by many of the workers at the eateries to try their restaurants. The resort has everything but I like to venture out one night to see the culture of where I am visiting. It was a $40 round trip cab ride and a full, huge delicious meal for about $28.00 a person. If you are worried about the price of everything, The Atlantis is definitely not the place to go. Thank you to all of the staff. .Loved each day and night. Stay safe.

Our eight very long days of vacation was enjoyed, but we came home hungry and overwhelmingly tired. Due to the curfew in the Bahamas, many of the restaurants are closed due to low staffing. I found many vacationers didn't know about the curfew, so they were left confused about the already booked restaurants. Our suite was on the 21st floor, so it was incredibly beautiful on the Club Suites Floor. No complaining there and our bed was absolutely THE most comfortable bed, first night we slept 14 hours straight! Our morning room service was perfect and on point. Wonderful coffee service! Atlantis is an incredibly large place, so you're left scrambling for food, many restaurants closed, many already booked. Walking everywhere is a must with shuttle service to each tower. The Mandara Spa was a huge disappointment. Food and drinks are very over priced ~ welcome to the Bahamas, added VAT tax + gratuity added before hand. Beaches are beautiful, sand clean and the grounds at The Cove are stunning and romantic. It's the most relaxing and luxurious of all the towers I believe. It's difficult to find food if you don't plan ahead and I found myself doing just that, making it my daily job to find food, make reservations or go walking to search. The Mosaic restaurant closes at noon, so you had to repair time wise. I couldn't imagine how large families with small children deal with that daily since children are always hungry. The Cove could use a walk-in Patisserie with sandwiches, soups and salads to grab on the go. When we couldn't find food, we just went to Seaglass to eat. I believe things just aren't up and running to high capacity quite yet and if you're going to Atlantis, just know this ahead of time, make reservations for dinner before you get there. Sounds crazy, but necessary. All in all we had a nice time, probably stayed too long. The daily walking was really too much for us. I'm really glad I got to see the Bahamas for the first time, but wouldn't go back.

King Bed Suite ☆ Problems: balcony sliding door; bathroom door; too little hot water when showering and bathing, no mini-fridge; too little drawer storage; too much unusable storage for empty non-comp snacks/drinks and wine glasses/cups; sofa bed uncomfortable; decor too dated; missed some daily room service; not worth the $$$$ price tab per night, for sure (get the $$$ standard room instead). Indoor Dining ☆ Problems: Only breakfast choice was $40pp, unless you purchased yogurt (without spoons available) or muffins from the Sundries Shop or walked to another resort or off-property; no seafood restaurant for shrimp, scallops, crab, etc; all indoor dining for two was overpriced. Outdoor Dining ☆☆☆ Food is good around the pools, but hamburgers are $15 and with 27% taxes, you can't eat for less than $20 per person for lunch and early dinner (only serves food until 5pm); if you get a drink, you can't eat/drink for less than $40-$50 per person. The best food we found is at the Atlantis Village Marina, easily walkable from The Cove to The Royal, through the Royal and with easy entry to the Marina Village. Water Park ☆ Biggest Disappointment: Of the twelve water park features, only 25% to 50% were open for our weeklong stay Beach ☆☆ and Ocean ☆☆☆☆☆ Beach Problem: due to soft. unpacked sand, walking the beach isn't enjoyable; however, the ocean is great with clear water full of sea creatures when snorkeling. Pools ☆☆☆☆☆ Beautiful pools are everywhere you turn and all different, however, often finding an available complimentary chair can be difficult if you get a late start; too many areas to lounge require reservations and charges. Landscaping and Grounds ☆☆☆☆☆ Make sure you spend time walking the grounds of the entire resort as the landscaping, bridges, and sculptures are a must see. Outside Hospitality ☆☆☆☆☆ Inside Hospitality ☆☆☆ Everyone working the outside areas was extremely helpful and pleasant; those working inside The Cove seemed indifferent. I spoke with the Hotel Manager on the day before our departure to voice my disappointments and she did deduct a totally inadequate $150 inconvenience credit against our $8,500 weekly charge for room, food and drinks - $50 for the water park closures (for three people) and $100 for suite issues. Overall ☆☆☆ Comparing Atlantis to DisneyWorld ☆☆☆☆☆, Universal Orlando ☆☆☆☆☆, Great Wolf Lodge ☆☆☆☆☆ and other water parks, Atlantis just can't compare to our US entertainment standards. Since I was underwhelmed by the overall experience, I probably won't return to Atlantis, but I'm posting this review so others may be the judge when considering their first trip to Atlantis. BTW, you can stay at Comfort Suites, literally across from the entrance to the Marina Village, and CS gives you complimentary access to the Atlantis water park facilities and the beaches. Check it out!
