This resort is expansive and beautiful with many great pools, the beach and water park to busy the whole day. Staff was polite and readily available to help with all needs. The only complaint we had was that all the pools close at 5 pm so there was nothing for us to do with our kids all evening. They have mini golf open late but it’s very expensive. The hotel should offer movies on the beach or other activities to busy kids in the evenings. Overall great place but not as family friendly as it could be
Wonderful people, wonderful amenities and wonderful service. There is always something to do and the restaurants and shops are spectacular. The water park is very clean and well maintained. The spaces are always clean and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
We were looking forward to a weekend getaway here, but unfortunately we left disappointed. If you are reading this, please understand that you have so many other options -- why stay here? Our 4 day trip started off with food poisoning from the taco truck near the beach. This left us unable to enjoy the remainder of our trip. Even without the food poisoning, the price tag of nearly $150 for 2 burrito bowls, 2 (overly sugary) margaritas, and a side of chips seems steep. I understand paying more than usual when dining on site at a resort, but come on... The service across the Bahaha Mar properties falls flat. At Katsuya, I ordered a steak medium rare. It came well done. After asking for a replacement (with no apology or acknowledgment), the new dish came back well done once again. No offer to remove the item from the check or anything reasonable. Expect long wait times for below average food anywhere you dine on property. One silver lining -- Bahaha Bay Beach Club pool! The hostess was kind as were the pool servers we had there both days. Despite a rather lengthy wait time for food (for 1/2 who was able to eat on the trip as the other had food poisoning after the first day) one day, our server checked in on us frequently and we enjoyed our time by the pool. At breakfast, we were given a table inside despite asking for a table outside. After inquiring why we were forced to sit inside while there were tables available outside, we were finally seated outdoors. Again, the price tag for the meal wasn't justified -- the food just isn't good here. We tried food from restaurant offerings across Bahaha Mar -- SLS, Rosewood, and Grand Hyatt -- all a miss. The room seemed small, even after a paid upgrade. And the "pillows"...LOL. I suggest you bring your own from home (if you choose to stay here despite my warnings). The pillows smelled heavily of mildew and they were as flat as pancakes. We called for new pillows, but the replacement foam pillows we were sent still had the same mildew smell and same flatness. It was difficult to get a good night's rest -- average mattress, below average sheets, terrible pillows. One day, we walked in to see the bed was made, but our dirty coffee cups and some trash on the counter remained. We poked out to ask the housekeeper if she was still cleaning our room. She said she had completed it and when asked about the trash and dirty mugs, she said she "didn't see them." She kindly offered to re-service our room, and the 2nd cleaning was much better. We tipped her at the conclusion of our stay as one should, but we would have rather spent our holiday relaxing than teaching the housekeeping staff how to housekeep. I tried speaking with a manger at the property several times to see if we could correct some things and salvage our trip. The first time, I was asked to wait for 10+ minutes and was finally told that the manager wasn't available. I left my cell phone number and email -- no effort was made to reach out to us at any point in our trip. On another occasion, I called and was placed on hold. I hung up after waiting 10+ minutes. I wanted to solve all of our problems reasonably while we were at the property, not rely on a poor review to get a response after we've already left. But that's not possible. We had, let's just say "interesting" interactions with fellow guests on two occasions...unprovoked slurs hurled at us...at a "family" resort. While the hotel is not responsible for the behavior of its guests, it does speak to the type of people who stay here. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but the trip wrapped up with our hotel arranged airport transportation arriving 25 minutes late to pick us up. We thought the markup for hotel transportation would be justified by convenience...again, we were wrong. During our 25 minute wait, we were finally able to track down a manager. She offered to deduct the paid upgrade fee we had made and to deduct the meal that left one of us with food poisoning. While kind, that doesn't fix a horrendous stay and and 11th hour Hail Mary won't get us our time back. We won't stay here again and we will discourage anyone we know from ever staying here. We've had fabulous COVID holidays in Turks and Caicos and Jamaica at resorts of similar price points but with far superior service and amenities...and no food poisoning. While the room rate may seem sensible at first glance, when you add in tax, resort fees, food and beverage, the price tag quickly balloons. We are happy to spend on a quality meal, but you won't find that here. We live in a large city, so we're accustomed to steep prices, but this place really takes the cake. Please trust me and STAY ELSEWHERE!!!…
We are currently staying at the hotel and I am writing this review because I just read a review that stated the employees here were unfriendly and I find that to be so unfair. Everyone that I have been in contact with has been kind, friendly and helpful. What does bother me is that about 10% of the guests are walking around without masks, ignoring staff requests to mask up. Yesterday, waiting for a west tower elevator , a group of young men , just out of a meeting were standing around massless . Loud and invasive. Someone needs to walk around handing out masks .
We chose Baha Mar specifically for the kids under 5 eat free but we found it really difficult to find out which restaurants this applied to, there was no filter to search by or kids meal section, on the app or the tablet and we asked many staff and got different answers. We thought we understood anywhere with a kids menu, until we ate at Pizza Lab only to find that the meal we ordered from the kids menu was not included. We did not enjoy walking past the casino each time to get to our rooms, it spoilt the atmosphere for us, but we preferred the bedrooms and decor in the east tower which is where the casino is situated.
