Cranston knocked it out of the park @ Nikkei restaurant @ the resort. All star status. The guy was unreal. Timely, personable, accommodating. @ an all inclusive resort we didn’t expect this kind of 1-1
My stay at the Melia was indeed beyond what I had expected. The rooms were nice and clean, the ice machine is always an amazing amenity and the service that I received was superb. I arrived at the hotel late evening with my husband and my parents and we were greeted by the friendly smile and professionalism of front desk personnel, Lavardo who provided valuable information and suggestions about the hotel, restaurants and activities. In dining at the various restaurants we had a chance to meet Judith at The Marketplace who went out of her way to get a slice of cheesecake for my mom after we noticed there were none on the buffet that night. Also at the Marketplace was Ian. Ian's customer service goes beyond what training offers. He was genuinely interested in our customer satisfaction and his attitude the entire time made him a pleasure to be around. Melia's staff all displayed excellent customer service beyond those that I have already pointed out and that extends to Jamal at Aqua, the young man that deals with the kayaks, the young lady in the towel hut and the men at the poolside bar. My overall opinion leads me to make Melia my first choice whenever visiting New Providence for business or pleasure and I would recommend it to anyone else.…
Overall great service by all the wonderful staff at the resort. My group was comprised of 3 20-year-olds who dressed like washed up 70's tourists the whole time and the staff would treat us the same as anyone else. Getting the Level upgrade for us was worth it as we took advantage of the OGrill breakfast and 24 hour room service at no additional cost. A special shoutout to Shelda, Crystal and Moses at the OGrill for their amazing people skills and awesome personalities. And Elheno Grant who was working at Cilantro one evening, he was especially great unlike the manager who was constantly bossing him around there. Overall great trip and made memorable by the wonderful people of the Bahamas, cannot say enough.
LEVEL all inclusive option was definitely the way to go. LEVEL guests get area on beach with better chairs and towels, plus drink and food service. The dining reservations were easy. Having a Starbucks inside the hotel was great. Lots of replenished water in the rooms. Rooms were cleaned early and turn down service was done late in the day. Food was "ok". Nothing special, but enough options to avoid having to go spend more money somewhere else, if you don't want to. Think "cruise ship". Not the place for a "foodie". Breakfast buffet was the best. hourly boat rides to Balmoral Island across the water gives a change of scenery option. But you have to pay for everything there, bring lots of cash. Melia guests can go to the Baha Mar next door to the casino, restaurants, bars...just not the pools and that's all extra cost as well. The pool bar and the evenings were a little snoozy, not a whole lot of entertainment or lively bartenders. But to each his own. Have a drink in mind that you like so you can ask for it directly, didn't see a lot of cocktailing going on. Had a great time because we made it great. We were nice to the staff and they were nice back...that's all you have to do. Don't expect a 5-star trip and you won't be disappointed. Big shout out to Hellen and Chrystall at the O Grille who started our trip off with huge smiles! cons (nothing major): not enough chairs right by pools music wasn't consistently playing all day main bar outside and inside closed rather early (would be nice to have something open at night outside) water toys weren't always brought out (i assume due to wind?) mini fridge in room wasn't always restocked soap wasn't restocked had to ask for towels AC crapped out (called front desk and it was fixed right away) Corner room had no table or chairs (just beds and dressers)…
There for a short layover, but enjoyed the dinner buffet- good variety, very friendly staff. We got stuck in a handicap room with a broken handicap shower (we did not request), on a dated hallway with a broken coffeemaker, but the staff was very nice.
