Very disappointed overall. What I liked was the private beach, although very small and nothing to see if you want to snorkel. Lobby is incredible and the hotel has a long and interesting history. This was our 35th anniversary trip, and hoped for a nice room with an ocean view. What we got was a small, cramped, mediocre space overlooking a parking garage roof or something hideous. Desk said they couldn’t change which was bs, not very many guests from what I saw. Room temperature was too warm and when I asked the desk staff they said we can check but never heard a peep after that. Food too pricey and okay not great. Some staff was awesome, many could have cared less if we were there or not. Next trip we’re staying at Margaritaville next door it’s fabulous!

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary. We did not travel with kids and wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big resort. The pool and beach is quiet and clean. We enjoyed walking to the Fish Fry, John Willes distillery, the art gallery, Greycliff, and Bay Street. Every interaction with the staff has been warm and friendly! We will definitely be back!

What was once, I’m sure a very wonderful hotel, is now quite tired and in need of renovations. The hotel needs more than just interior design help - the carpeting is threadbare and moldy, and the air conditioning unit is clearly in disrepair. The rooms are so humid, that the soap came out of the box PRE MOISTENED! All of our clothing, even freshly dry cleaned shirts, felt damp. And the rooms never became comfortably cool - despite turning the thermostat to 65. The room furniture and fixtures were all damaged to some extent, and the floor was sandy. The bathroom seemed recently renovated, with clean, new tile - however, the water pressure in the shower was abysmal. We received a very attractive rate, which was wildly cheaper than any of the big resorts in Nassau- but the old adage rings true: you get what you pay for.

The British Colonial Hilton, situated on the beach yet right in the centre of Nassau, is a relic from the past. It is grand an elegant, but not really maintained with the degree of tender loving care that it deserves. The lobby has an abundance of in-ceiling lighting yet these never get switched on either during the day or at night, so the elegance of the imposing lobby and grand staircase are lost. Instead, it is rather dark and gloomy. The room was very clean and the bed was sumptuous. The air-conditioning worked perfectly and all the amenities I would expect were on offer. The only complaint was that water pressure was very slow, making showering a laborious experience. Also, the smooth floor tiles caused me to slip, fall and hurt my arm as I stepped out of the shower (I did not complain). Breakfast service was slow. It took me half an hour just to have my order taken. The were only two waitresses assigned to the entire dining room at the busiest time of the morning (9.00 to 10.00 hrs).

Deteriorating rapidly. A quick summary… Positively, the worst breakfast and coffee I’ve tasted. Tired rooms with housekeeping every third day ! (Why not daily???) A hot and stuffy gym with no a/c and no music. Pool area where they can’t be bothered to collect the cushions at the end of each day, meaning the seats are wet for guests the following day. Dinner for one , a beer and one glass of red $80 And finally; Staff who don’t wear masks , but bellow at you; for not wearing yours! (For the avoidance of doubt masks don’t work and are simply “theatre”) I just felt a tad “wronged” by the staff here ! What’s good ? The location and the friendly “pool bar staff” The pool itself is spotlessly clean. I’m afraid the atmosphere in Nassau is grim thanks to the Covid nonsense. This isn’t the hotels fault of course, but I felt it worth mentioning, for anyone who is considering a vacation here.
