This was our first time to stay here and it was great. The rooms were nice & clean, staff were helpful & courteous and food was delicious. Only downside is there is basically no beach, the waves come right up to the stairs where you walk up to the pool & bar area. We ended up taking a short walk down the beach to Royal Palms Beach Club where we were able to get lounge chairs at no charge and enjoy a large beach area & pool. They serve food & drinks. We would stay at Grand Cayman Marriott again.
Hotel is great, food is amazing, drinks are better. Be sure and hit the Sushi every evening. Unfortunately the beach is about 75% smaller this winter due to erosion, first row of chairs are in the water.
Beautiful, exciting resort--lively events, fantastic setting--outstanding staff! This resort is lots of fun! the atmosphere in the lobby is energetic, with lots of people at the bar and Anchor and Den restaurant, and various theme nights and entertainment. The pool is beautiful, and the setting is fantastic--with friendly and helpful folks to set up chairs and manage towels. The staff is outstanding. Lorna and Anna are thoughtful, friendly, perfect housekeepers--providing all the personal touches! Adalberto is an excellent manager at the Veranda beachfront restaurant--engaged and busy with both customers and staff. All the servers at Veranda, Siska, Walter, Mary Ann, Tina, Michael, Shiva, Tamara and others are friendly, cheerful, provide excellent meal recommendations and do whatever is needed to satisfy special requests guests may have. Truly an outstanding experience to dine at Veranda and the Vista bar overlooking the beach and ocean--in wonderful atmosphere. We enjoyed the entertainment. We've been here eight nights, and have four more to go--we spend more and more time just at the Beachhouse--we have found that there really is no reason to go anywhere else!…
We have stayed at this hotel a couple times in the past but we keep coming back because you really can’t beat it. The service is absolutely outstanding! A special thank you to Neil, who took the time to remember all of our names. He always made sure that we were enjoying our stay! Anthonie from Veranda, Tina, and Alyona from Anchor & Den all made our stay even more amazing with their kindness and hospitality. There’s also nothing like the view, amenities, and endless activities here. Can’t wait for my next visit!
This was our 2nd time to this beautiful property- once in 2011 and once in 2020 and boy the property sure has changed. The ambiance is very open and welcoming, the rooms are fresh and comfortable and the service and attentive nature of the staff is really why I give this property 4 stars. The good- great location, can easily walk to camana bay, Georgetown, and tons of bars and restaurants. The service and staff- everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The rooms were cleaned almost always by noon and they were spacious and comfortable. The beach side attendants were very helpful with setting up chairs and getting your beverages or food. Everyday they’d come around frequently with fresh fruit and water to keep you hydrated. There’s a fantasist artificial reef about 50 yards offshore that you can spend hours snorkeling in. There’s also a free shuttle that takes you to various places on the island. The bad- this place is extremely expensive. Also everything is quoted in Cayman dollars which is about .80 US so add an extra buck for every $5 on your bill. A 16% service charge is also included in every bill. The breakfast buffet is $30 US plus the resort fee daily which equates to $60 US- that means for a couple staying 5 nights and just eating breakfast it’s about $600 without anything else. Expect to drop at least $800-$900 US here if you don’t drink much and have a lunch or two. The food is average at best, lunches are significantly better than dinners. We did the Wednesday night lobster fest, I chose not to get the Lobster and try the Paella, big mistake- my worst meal on the island by far. But the wife wanted the lobster fest, and she was very pleased. Bottom line, order whatever they’re doing that night - don’t go off the menu. We weren’t able to get a spot by the pool one time when we were there, all 6 days. People ‘reserve’ their spots with towels and books and then leave. The resort states that after an hour, they free up the sears but I didn’t see anything to enforce that. There were two books thrown down on two cabanas when we arrived at 10 am, by 3:00 there was still the two books sitting there with no one ever coming. The cabanas are also first come, first serve. We were disappointed but never really had a problem getting a seat on the beach. All in all we had a great time here, but being our second time to Cayman and a ton more places to explore- it’ll be awhile before we return. …
