The "resort" is really what I would call a beachfront hotel. The staff were kind and friendly, although I was a bit alarmed that my son was able to talk someone into letting him into our room without a key. If he can do it, can others? He is 12, and looks a bit older, not a cute 4 year old who might be locked out. We only ate at the restaurant by the pool once for lunch and the service was unbelievably slow. Like over an hour to get appetizers . - although our waiter did bring some salsa and chips as apology. I don't know if this is always the case but it cut into our afternoon plans which was disappointing. It was often hard to find chairs at the beach or pool - maybe they need more? Room was nice but again not extra special. The prices were likely high because of school vacation and holidays so would consider it if less expensive. …
The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The kids loved the pool and water slide. Good food but expensive. Room not available on time but compensated for. Enjoyed the oceanfront cabana room. Lobby furniture was pretty beat up and needs replacing
Stayed here at this wonderful Marriott for two nights prior to our cruise out of San Juan. The views from the room were tremendous looking down at Coronado and downtown San Juan. The staff that we encountered at this hotel were very friendly personable and accommodating we look forward to our return at this property prior to going back to the cold of the east coast and Midwest.
Very business. Only a few table poker games and is very crowded. Friendly though and is attached to the Marriott Hotel. Since I like poker games, I was disappointed with only one 3 card poker table and one Caribbean Poker table.
The San Juan Marriott in Condado is a great place to stay on a family trip to Puerto Rico. Most of all, the staff are excellent. Every single staff member we interacted with was pleasant, helpful, and well-trained. In particular, Yean Del Valle was great for poolside food and beverage service, Sonny was great at Gingambo for the breakfast buffet, and Sheila was an excellent housekeeper. We were also served at Gingambo twice at dinner by a woman whose name I can't remember but who was wonderful. The resort is in very good condition and is very clean and well maintained. It's a good place for a family -- we had 2 kids ages 10 and 13 with us. The water slide is fun, the two different pools allow for fun for all ages, there are ample chairs, an outdoor pingpong table and outdoor giant Connect-4 game, a swim bar, a hot tub... We were there in late Dec/early Jan and there is a lot of shade available all day long -- which is essential for my fair-skin! But of course there is also sun for sunbathing. It's great to have the easy beach access, and we appreciated that the outdoor water supply for washing off the beach sand was WARM water. We walked up and down the beach from the Marriott, and we all enjoyed playing in the waves and sand. Nice to have beach hammocks available, too. The poolside meal service and Gingambo are convenient for outdoor dining. The dishes are a bit hit or miss, but that's not unusual for a hotel restaurant that is trying to serve American palates that often want some familiarity. The strengths were the fish tacos (not as awesome as a fish taco from a roadside food truck, but still tasty and filling), fish sandwich, pork sandwich, chicken quesedilla, burger, catch of the day and vegetable side dish, and guanabo dish (I know I'm not getting the spelling right, but it starts with a G and is under main entrees). And the Ocean Berry cocktail! It was convenient to have La Panderia to grab a quick bit from-- the empanadas were good for a filling breakfast and we particularly recommend the pork empanada and broccoli empanada. And we ordered room service one night and our food came in about 20 min! The Marriott is located in a good area -- it's on Ave. Ashford, which has many restaurants and is lively at night. We loved eating at Latin Star, just one block away -- good, local food with a helpful billingual menu. La Cocina Abierta serves very impressive dishes. Once night when the kids were tired we got pizza from the wood-fired pizza place right across the street from the hotel and hung out in the room. For your basic needs, there's a CVS right next to the hotel and a Freshmart (like a small Whole Foods) on block east. From the Marriott, it's easy to get by car to anywhere you need to go: the airport, Old San Juan, Toro Verde, El Yunque.... My only request to the Marriott would be to dial back the air conditioning -- we were FREEZING in the lobby and hallways. My husband and I we would have loved to hang out at the bar in the lobby some evening and to try the indoor Red Coral restaurant, but it was TOO COLD inside, even with the long pants and sweaters we wore on the airplane. But other than that, we'd recommend this property highly and would return!…
"Tower rooms are old and tiny. Cabana rooms remodeled but all face the pool area and are very loud even with door closed."Read full review
